RE: Chinese RV tires... holding up!

A family friend runs his family trucking business, a few years back he changed the fleet over to Chinese (company and manufactured) tires after hearing so many good things about them. He says they are far superior to the traditional brands in all aspects, and FAR less money. Wonder who you can sue for damages in case failure of the tire due to faulty manufacturing. Or would the manufacture in China even respond?

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Sold all my Tesla stocks. Looks like Elon gone rogue or simply don't care. Tesla may get dropped on the ESGV (environment, social, governanc) or good guys ETF-mutual funds. Tesla's latest letter to stockholders is to vote for his new director James Murdoch (of Fox infamy), vote against reporting on human rights, diversity and inclusion and employee arbitration. And true FSD, as we thought it would be, is stilll a pipe dream -- calling our Cybertruck to fetch us in our campsite or go to one campsite to the next with us napping at the back seat. We will always have to be on the steering wheel.

RE: Chinese RV tires... holding up!

I have a lot more confidence in US or Japanese branded tires even if marked Made in China as I'm pretty sure it was made under our standards and strict supervision. "Branded tires". The (mainland) Chinese are very capable of manufacturing tires to the buyers specifications! Michelin has mfg facilities in China along with other brands who put their BRAND NAME on the tires. However - even YOU can be a distributor of YOUR brand of tires mfg in China to YOUR specs. Simplified: YOU place the minimum order for "Yosemite" Tires, have them shipped to the USA, line up distributors and you're good to go. Also, cut a deal with trailer manufactures to equip their product with Yosemite tires - which meet the desired load range for the trailer. (Think "Bean Counters"!) Soooo maybe lots of complaints and tire failures! Next batch gets a new brand name. If folks are happy with their "Yosemites", they get good reviews (like in this thread). When a company has THEIR name on the tire - their expectations (and specs) are higher....Ex: Michelin. Unfortunately - sometimes even USA mfg tires can be losers! Ex: USA mfg Goodyear Marathons from a few years ago. The Airstream forums have (negative) threads that never stopped - but would be deleted or closed on other forums. If you bought a new trlr a few years ago, it had USA mfg GY Marathons (with lots of unhappy folks on RV Net also). My Marathons developed bubbles & tread seperation in the first year, with a mimimal load range (D) for a 10K (unloaded) trlr. Best of luck -and trouble free miles- with your choice of shoes! :W . One line could be "Idgit Camels" China can manufacturer whatever you want. Just bring a sample and give them the downpayment for minimum order. Quality. Don't bet on it. But if a US company control and supervises the manufacturing with veery specific quality materials and QA, it can be comparable to US made. That's how I guide myself in buying anything around. US brand, wherever it's manufactured.

Maybe you should back off for a while. You seem to getting a bit hot under the collar Yosemite Sam. Have you actually seen and read what's been deleted through his edit?

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

@Reisender - good luck on whatever decision you make and the road you take. Yup, we thought of ferries doing that Alaska route and definitely, small RV will be an advantage. It is too for US West Coast national parks, lol,

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

@Reisender - I'm still getting email notifications but I have to drag myself to respond. Seems everyone and his brother are into building charging stations -- some offering commercial center free charging installations. The Alaska set up is one exciting development. Encouraged too that Biden administration is into it in their insfrasture plans. Pull throughs and charging cycle-access for Cybertruck is still an outstanding issue. Is the wifey still canceling her CT order with the smaller trailer purchase? Interesting new cool models there too. Except my own DW won't ever give up her sofa feature in an RV. We may be looking at truck camper though with the CT doubt about the sofa feature unless it's classified heavy, can carry the Lance 1172 with a modification of super fat tires at the back in place of dually (interesting discussion of dually mods at the Tesla-Cybertruck forum too).

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Right, that's why NHTSA has opened an investigation, and the FTC may follow suit over Tesla's marketing of driver assistance, autopilot or whatever it's supposed to be. There's obviously an issue besides the loose nut behind the wheel. I drive a Toyota with less sophisticated features like lane keeping assistance and collision avoidance. Hasn't aimed me at another vehicle yet. I bet you don't sit in the back seat when driving like some idiots in Teslas ? video Sandy Munro shares his thoughts on Tesla being investigated by NHTSA If Tesla is guilty of anything it is under estimating the stupidity of many Americans. However, I am really looking forward to Version 10 of FSD that is supposed to be released next month. Simple solution. Tesla should make all buyers read vehicle manual and learn how to safely operate AP feature and sign the statement saying so, before seling them the car. And IQ test, pleaaaaase!

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

If EV's are going to be a success, all charging stations will need to be available to all vehicles, just like gas stations. Here is a map. Zoom in a bit to your area. https://www.plugshare.com/ Looks like there is or will soon be an electric path to Alaska. I had no idea this was moving so fast. Oh yeah, am putting Alaska national parks back into my bucket list.

@Reisender - Wellcome back! Am myself is parked at Cybertruck/Tesla forums. Comes here only with the notifications on interesting topics. Nothing changed my opinion that this forum is over moderated. One even got zapped relating my bad experience with Camping World San Bernardino and Valencia in CA. And the Ellla infamous, IM me your Elite Member number -- and then nothing happens. So Tesla is stil not into pull-through charging stations to benefit us trailer-pullers? Thanks for the update.

Why did you delete the post about me the OP implying I didn't know anything about the subject of government budget? Lost your manhood suddenly? Why are you blaming fla_gypsy for that? They aren't a moderator and don't have the ability to delete posts.... Have you read the unedited post to know what's been said before you opened your trap?

RE: Wine Country north of San Francisco

Get into a nice campground in Sebastopol, it's the nicest city out there, and sign up on a 4 to 5 star wine tasting tour. Then when sober, take your own road trip to the area. It's beautiful with charming downtown in their cities. Yup, can be crowded on weekends.

RE: Sad state of national parks and forests - II

"The Bidens paid about $3.7 million and $1.5 in taxes for 2017 and 2018, respectively — about a third of their adjusted gross income. They gave roughly $1 million and $275,000 to charity in 2017 and 2018, respectively." Compared w $750.00?????? SMH Compared to the $400,000 salary donation alone, your retyping a prior typo, at least get your lies straight. I don't know about modern math. But in our elementary arithmetic, $3.7 million paid by Biden is bigger than the $750 paid by Trump -- or still higher if he donated $400,000 and change of his salary. And we don't care about donations, just pay the nooestt taxes for his self-proclaimed billions, and we are all good. I'm off this forum but these kinds of mindless last two posts before me that sets my hackles and raise the dead.:E

RE: Sad state of national parks and forests - II

Just a reminder, the Federal Govt doesn’t pay for anything. It takes money from others to give to whatever it pleases and borrows the rest at our expense. Why did you delete the post about me the OP implying I didn't know anything about the subject of government budget? Lost your manhood suddenly? Yeah, I only researched to tie up my observations about the deteriorating conditons of our national parks that I just camped recently and digged into the national parks budget.. And indeed, politics aside, it's budgets get cut under Obama, understandably with the Great Recession. Then further cut under Trump, seems on their sense of priority since they gave $1 Trillion tax cuts to big business, And oh yea, I must not know about budgets since it's what I did for a living with several global-multinational companies.

With Atitude like that China will Own US soon,, And they already have over 500 EV manufacturers bc thats whats in greatest demand everywhere. This is why Reisender and I stepped back, lol. Parking my behind now on the Tesla and Cybretruck forum. Oh well, good luck!

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Tesla's stock price is!:EAnd that has exactly what to do with the semi's availability? Huh, so you seriously don't know? Let me edumacate you, in Finance and Production Management 101. In Tesla's case (I know, my son used to work for Elon). 1. Most, if not all of Tesla's responsible employees are stockholders. 2. When stock prices are up, they report for work earlier, sometimes stay on the job 24/7, work harder and complete their goals, building their megs and overshooting their production targets. 3. When stock prices is down, they dilly-dally driving to work, takes their coffee in their lounge longer, chit chat around the water cooler more often and longer -- thus delaying the completion of their megas and their gigas -- thus delaying production, in this case, the semis. There you go. You can thank me later for this 3 units each credit on these subjects.:B

RE: Iron air battery -- too heavy for RVs, but interesting

This is quite different from a Nickel Iron battery, as it uses air (oxygen) as the cathode. It is great to see the dramatic leaps we are seeing in batteries and energy storage technology. The other emerging technology that is more directly relevant to EVs and RVs are Solid State Lithium Metal Batteries . These will have a higher energy density, charge faster and last even longer than lithium-ion batteries. Indeed! Every battery tech's head is into this and it won't be surprising to have a breakthrough developments along this area. Interesting times.

RE: Iron air battery -- too heavy for RVs, but interesting

I wonder how similar these batteries are to the Iron-Nickel ones from early last century? Asking for a friend, are you someone who is nostalgic to the good 'ol days of horse buggy and want the world to go back to those days?:B

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

I am interested in this thread, but the constant "almost here, almost here, almost here, almost here" just gets so tiresome. Why can't the fan boys just accept that it will be late, and it will get here at some point, and give it a rest? Instead we get daily reports about it's "almost here". I mean it's coming up on 4 years and it's still not here, but it's "almost here". Meaning, like a fly to the cow's pie?;)I can't believe it, you're equating the Tesla semi to a cowpie? Tsk, tsk. :) Tesla's stock price is!:E

RE: Iron air battery -- too heavy for RVs, but interesting

Yup, if it's too heavy for electric cars, then it will also be too heavy for RVs. There is a frenzy out there to come up with more densely packed battery. Weight and size is always a major consideration.
