RE: First Cat Scale Weigh In

allen8106, I have to ask where did you get the 3,719 - Max Cargo?? I have a 2018 High Country 3500 Dually and right from the door pillar mine is Payload 4930 Lbs. The max cargo came off the factory sticker in the glove compartment.

RE: First Cat Scale Weigh In

My big question is how many trips across the scales does it take to get all that data? Two, one with the camper on and one with the camper off. They will allow you to leave return as long as you return within 24 hours.

RE: First Cat Scale Weigh In

Heavy pin ratio.....5vr should track very well w/o any chucking going on Does it sit level when hooked up/nose high/nose low? And how is your bed rail clearance----at least 6" (more is better provided 5vr is level) 5th wheel tracks well and we only get a little chucking if we get some rough roads, otherwise it runs pretty smooth 95% of the time. The 5th wheel sets a little nose high and bed rail clearance is about 5".

RE: First Cat Scale Weigh In

-I found it interesting that the steer axle weight was the same with or without the 5ver hooked on. I always set my GN and 5th wheel trailer hitch(s) to where it doesn't affect the trucks front axle much if any. Your 4060 lb drive axle empty weight is one of the highest I've seen even on haulers websites. Is the 4060 lbs number as is from the factory or after you added your stuff in the truck. The 4060 drive axle weight is all factory, no mods, just the stuff loaded in the bed, hitch, generator, flag pole, blue boy tote, driver, dog and cooler.

RE: Tire wear outside rear curb side

Take it to a trailer shop and have them align it. RV dealers have no clue on alignments.

RE: Amp hours

You need to install a battery monitor. That will tell you how much power you are using. Battery monitor should always be the first device you install long before any other equipment.

RE: Tire wear outside rear curb side

Don't take it to an RV dealer, they don't know jack squat about alignments. take it to an axle shop and get it aligned.

RE: Solar Charge Controller question

Look at a Bogart Engineering SC-2030 PWM charge controller. They run about $120 and are a simple reliable device. I also use a Morningstar TS-45 PWM controller. They are a little more and run around $175.

RE: Using “wiggle wood” for roof on travel trailer?

First off i would never use 1/8" wood of any kind on the roof. you'll never be able to walk on it. I would use a minimum of 3/8" and might even consider 1/2".

RE: Toilet clog

I use the Flush King with success every time i have a clog. I tend to be too conservative when it comes to water and that leads to less water in the black tank than should be. My fault, i need to do better at adding initial water. Flush King gets two thumbs up from me.

RE: Home based cell booster

I use the Weboost RV and have it mounted to the top of my 20 foot flag pole which is mounted to the back bumper of the camper. So I didn't have to drill holes in my camper I ran the cable from the antennae to the cable TV connector then hooked the indoor section the output of the cable TV connector on the inside. Works great.

RE: Inverter questions

Based on my experience it might work if you are fully charged. I have a 1000 watt inverter and tried to run a 700 watt coffee maker off of it when the batteries were at about 70%. Drained the out rush of power dropped the battery bank too low and shut the inverter down due to a low power warning.

RE: Invalid VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

I found a VIN decoder for trailers that work with my 5ver VIN. Try this and see what you come up with. http://cmvid.nisrinc.com/CMV_ID/CMV_ID.asp
