RE: Found Excellent Battery Compartment Black Paint At Wal-Mart

I've been using Rustoleum Stops Rust Hammered when I redid mine. If that fails your choice will be my next stop.

RE: 22.5 tires $$$$ ?

You won't find any class A coaches with 19.5 tires built after 2009. Huh? Almost every coach not on a F53 24k chassis has 19.5's.

RE: Any experience renting out your motorhome?

I didn’t read that he was charging them to show them, he was renting it to them for the weekend and would show them how RV St stems work. Not a bad idea. We tailgated UF games for years. I’ll bet you could get $750 a weekend, more for big games. Yep, you got it. Rented it last week (I only took delivery of the RV 2 days before I rented it). It was used for the judges to meet at the Red Hills Horse Trials. A little sand on the tires, and a little change in my pocket. Already have it rented for 2 football games.

RE: New Class A Buyer with Questions

One thing to keep in mind when financing (if you are financing) is that many banks/credit unions will not loan as much money on a private sale as they will on a sale via a dealer. It may mean you need a little more down payment cash to get the really nice condition private sale coach.

RE: NOLA Park Recommendation

So no one is recommending the French Quarter RV Resort? I thought it looked sketchy just from Google Earth.

RE: No Overnight Parking at Interstate Rest Areas

EXACTLY. It's not a campground, it's a rest area. Amy and I have used rest areas for years. but no slides, no bbq and no generator. I'm with you on the no BBQ. No awning. No lawn chairs or pink flamingos. However we have had RV's that we had to put the slides out just to get to a bed. And in the south, sleeping isn't possible without AC most of the year. However if I do have to put out a slide (don't have that RV anymore) I try to get an end or something where it won't cause me to take two spaces.

RE: Best Sausage Gravy

Real gravy is so easy, you will hate yourself when you make it the first time without the can or packet. I follow this basic recipe https://thesaltymarshmallow.com/best-sausage-gravy however I use more back pepper and I add red pepper. To me, gravy is a way to get pepper into my mouth.

RE: Wfco power center going bad?

WFCO's are bad when they leave the factory. (Esp the converter charger portion of them).

RE: Dingy with room for 5 adults.

Used. I've done pretty extensive looking at this point and it would seem not one single car manufacture has a car that has a back seat wide to fit 3 adults for any period of time. The widest back seat seems to be that of the full size pickups with crew cabs and SUV's based on them. For example the 18 Silverado Crew Cab has 40.5 head room, 40.9 leg room, 65.7 shoulder room, and 60.2 hip room. Compare that to say a 16 Nissan Altima (our old car). Headroom 37.1, legroom 36.1, shoulder 56.4, hip, 52.1. Most cars and smaller SUV's are around this same size with few exceptions. The edge is a bit bigger, head 39.3, leg 39.6, shoulder 58.7, hip 56.1. So it would seem to really haul 5 adults in comfort for more than 15 minutes, you have to look at something with 3 rows, or a full size SUV/Pickup.

RE: Any experience renting out your motorhome?

I'm hoping to rent ours, but not for folks to take trips in. College football is big here, and I would take it out to the parking lot, set it up and show them how to use it. Hell for enough money I will even stock and provision it with beer.

RE: Where in Tallahassee area...

Caster is how the steering axis is tilted, forward/back. Think about the front wheels on a working shopping cart (not the one at walmart that wobbles and drives you nuts). The point where the wheel pivots is behind where the center of the wheel is. Very stable, it just wants to go straight. A really good explanation of all alignment terms. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=4

Dingy with room for 5 adults.

I'm looking for something with two rows of seating and the back seat can fit 3 normal american sized adults. The Ford Edge seems like the best bet so far, but I am looking at any options. I have 5k towing weight limit.

RE: Too Big/Pricey/Soon for Me

Big tractors do something no pickup does. Go straight down the road for thousands of miles in all weather without requiring you to saw on the wheel.

RE: Jacks down or not??

Jacks down will feel more comfortable. However from a safety standpoint it probably doesn't matter. If the wind is strong enough to blow you over it probably will either way.
