RE: Campground Rates

When I go to San Diego it's usually for at least 10 days. What makes it hard and frustrating getting a space is the weekenders will fill the place up for 2 nights and then it's only half full during the week. I think the 3 night minimum helps folks like me get a space by ruling out the 2 night weekend traffic. Is it right? Depends on if the place gets more long term traffic or weekend traffic. Perhaps hold a percentage of the spaces for the weekend traffic and the rest for longer term.

RE: us 65 south from branson

The part of the 65 I've been on (I didn't go all the way to the 40), Branson going south was fine. I don't think you're going to find a straight road in the hills of MO and AR. I checked my Motor Carriers Atlas for the 18 wheeler crowd and the 65 is an approved route for them.

RE: Switching from Florida to Arizona or Texas

Several time a year I get the pressure washer out and clean the radiator fins.

RE: 8 people killed in Utah sand storm

It was the typical low visibility scenario. If people knew how to drive and when not to drive these things would happen less frequently. I was on the road last week and driving in some very low visibility rain. Amazing how many cars and trucks passed me as though the weather was clear.

RE: Tires and their pressures

You need better tires. Try Michelins.

RE: Providing my own WiFi

We have unlimited data plans and use our phones as Hot Spots. Works great but is pricey.

RE: Possible Canada boarder opening mid August

I'm not showing my 'papers' to anybody. Not to cross a border, not to fly in a airplane, not ever. Whatever happened to the HIPPA Law about medical privacy? As a cop, when HIPPA first came out, we were briefed that at an accident scene, for example, the medics weren't allowed to tell us cops if the person they were working had any DUI symptoms. Yet there's folks demanding to see our vaccination 'papers'.

RE: RV sites near Raleigh, NC

Look at your Good Sam app in map view to find what is available in the area.

RE: RV campground closing

This has been several years in the making, like around 3-5 years now. Chula Vista was supposed to have closed back in 2019. City of Chula Vista is tearing everything down for a billion dollar convention center, hotel, and other amenities. Up on 'E' street the company developed Costa Vista RV Park, which just opened, as a replacement for Chula Vista RV. So I can you can say the RV park is just moving to a new location.

RE: Thoughts on a weird/unique way to empty holding tanks.

Seems a black tank might fill up that pit toilet pretty quick.

RE: FOB keys and theft

I didn't read all the previous pages but for me I'm not going to change my FOB use. I have excellent insurance to replace anything stolen. In fact I'm glad I don't use keys anymore. Back in the 90's, here in Tucson, we were having many auto thefts committed by hoods who had master keys. You see, with all the cars made in Mexico some of the people down there somehow got ahold of the master keys from the factory. They'd then come up to Tucson and look for cars the master key might fit. They trolled the shopping malls and were pretty successful stealing our cars. We had an undercover detail that caught many of the thieves and soon the problem went away. Actually it's no different with RV's. Myself, my co-workers, and pretty much every RV worker in the country all have access to master keys to pretty much every RV out there. Except Airstream trailers, they do not have master keys. But not to be alarmed, our keys do not work the deadbolts.

RE: Benchmark atlases or ???? Hiking trails on something else?

I do a lot of off-roading and GAIA and ONX are great. Gaia is free and ONX is $29/year. Bottom line is GAIA and ONX work without being connected to a network. I've been way out in the boonies and still the maps still worked. I've never been lost with them.

RE: Looking at purchasing a safe and Reliable Motorhome

Cummins without airbrakes? Why? $25K - you might try a junkyard.

RE: Towing w/out weight dist -- am I being too conservative?

At work we move all travel trailers without using a WD system. Seems if you have enuf truck WD isn't needed.

RE: This may not be good news for full timers

Well, that article is labeled as an opinion piece; and maybe not factual. The pictures of dismantled cruise ships looks more than a little photo shopped. Air travel? I have a nephew that's a first officer for Delta. He came back from a 5 month air national guard deployment to the Middle East wondering if he'd still have a job. He's flying his maximum hours monthly now. And cruise travel? My wife and I booked a Western Caribbean cruise (bucket list thing for me) in April 2023. Wanted to go in 2022 but the suites (and most of the ship) was booked on the line/vessel we chose. Maybe he's just pumping the RV industry?Delta announced the hiring of 1,000 new pilots.
