RE: ARE THERE ANY SNOWBIRDS ANYMORE?

The fairgrounds in Tucson where I work is usually full of snowbirds this time of year but currently it's maybe half full.

RE: Tires for Towing 20k 5ver and Snow at altitude

The Michelins you have are M/S, which means mud and SNOW. I wouldn't change them. I'd be more concerned with the tires on the trailer. I run Michelin XPS Ribs on my trailer.

RE: Tesla delivers there first semi

From the few studies I've seen it remains to be seen if there will be a total-cost-of-ownership advantage for fleet owners to switch to battery electric trucks. We'll see what they decide to buy.

RE: Changes at CG's in the Tonto National Forrest Roosevelt Lake

My family grew up on Roosevelt when we were into boating/camping beginning back in the 70's. The feds came in and ruined how we boated/camped at Windy Hill with those ramadas. Boaters don't want to shore park their boat and be 1/4 mile away in a ramada. And those fees they charge are outrageous. I used to pay $10 a day to put my boat on the federally owned Roosevelt. Seems to me the feds don't want our boats on THEIR lake. I've been to the Texas gulf coast and also the Florida Keys and there is no charge to use their boat ramps.

RE: Traveling to California

I-10 and I-40 are both good choices. My advice is to look at a terrain map of your route and it will show you mountains to avoid.

RE: Newbie - 36ft vs 41ft fifth wheel

My first 5th wheel was a 35 footer. Next I got a 40 foot toy hauler 5th wheel, which I still have. Towing them I can't tell the difference in length. I can tell the difference in the weight, though.

RE: Just Asking

Mentally unstable? No. Is it a right time to sell? That depends if someone is willing to buy. At the RV dealership I work for we are still selling and customers are still buying inspite of the doomed economy facing us.

RE: tire time

I just posted in another thread not to use any tire made in CHINA, they're junk. I only use Michelin truck tires on my 5th wheels, since 2012, and have not had any tire issues. I am currently using Michelin XPS Ribs, a commercial truck tire, and will continue to use them.

RE: Two blow outs in one day

If your tires are stamped Made in China dump them, they're junk. They're low quality. I've been running truck tires (Michelin) on my trailers since 2012 and have had zero issues with them all the while amassing thousands of miles cris-crossing the US.

RE: Diesel Ram Owner Forced to Scrap Truck !

How can a New Jersey bureaucrat demand a vehicle be destroyed? Doesn't that require a court order from a judge and such? I mean, the owner still has Constitutional rights to his personal property. Perhaps he needs an attorney.
Update: I just read that he crushed his truck a few days ago. Apparently the bureaucrats in New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection (the global warming crowd) have the power to separate you from your personal property.

No thank you to having an EV and I especially don't like how the government is forcing them on us.

RE: California to Ban the Sale of New Gasoline Cars by 2035

So these electric cars have a range of around 400 miles. I just drove 500 miles from Tucson to Newport Beach in 8 hours. How long would this same trip be in an electric car, considering the time to charge the battery? Would I have to spend the night somewhere enroute?
Not sure where you're getting the 400 mile range ... I'll admit, depends on vehicles batter bank, like how big the fuel tank is. Older sisters BMW is around 175 Mile's in DC, another 75 or so Mile's using the her words, motor cycle engine to sorta kind recharge the batteries before running out of gas.
Then again, this particular vehicle may be designed for local use only, vs some having a longer range ability.
We're too soon IMHO to say electric has come into a real usable reality for most of us. BMW is working fantastic for sister. Me, it would be useless!
MartyTesla's website says one of their models is around 400 miles on a charge. The only sure thing I know about these electric cars is that the electricity they use comes primarily from coal or natural gas so what's the benefit to an electric car?

RE: Camping in an EV.... Always charging...

EV vehicles are powered by coal or natural gas because that's where the majority of electricity comes from. People don't seem to understand that. With that in mind, just what is the benefit of an EV vehicle?

RE: Point to ponder, hornets nest stir

Before I bought my current toy hauler I was towing my previous 5th wheel (14,500 GVWR) with my DRW Duramax. One of my concerns was the added safety of having a DRW. Case in point my wife was driving on a trip and an inner rear tire went flat. We heard a rumbling sound but had no idea we lost a truck tire; I thought it was a trailer tire. She got us off the road and it was a non-issue. Had we had a SWR it may have turned out differently losing the only tire on that side.

RE: Route from Cortez Colorado to Gunnison

I towed my 40' toy hauler on the 550 and won't do it again as I held up traffic while negotiating the hairpin turns and uphill grades. On my Harley the 550 is a blast.

I don't trust the government doctors or the CDC because they all lie about Covid. Masks and vaccines don't work and I have a dead wife to prove it. But Covid didn't stop us from travelling and enjoying life.
