RE: Canadians allowed across US land border for vaccinations

If allowed into the US for a shot, what guarantee do we in the US have that the Canadians will immediately return to Canada and not roam the US?

RE: Avoid Silverton Colorado

I'm going to give Colorado the old heave ho and stick to Utah where my RZR and money are appreciated. Frankly, I don't see the difference between my RZR and a jeep. Both are licensed for street use, both have insurance, both are DOT certified. But enuf of that. The intent of this thread was to warn those of you who might have reservations in Silverton and not know they aren't welcome,

RE: So many choices!

Buy something used. Use it for a year or two and learn what you really want and need. We did that with our first 5th wheel.

RE: Avoid Silverton Colorado

I started this thread a dozen pages ago. Here is an update: I wrote the following to the Silverton Mayor: I just learned of the city council vote to ban OHV vehicles in town. This news is sad to hear. I guess the townspeople want quiet streets and quiet cash registers. We were in Silverton last September for a week of OHV riding and spending money in the local economy. It seemed to us that most all the people staying in town at RV parks were also driving OHV vehicles. We thought we were helping the local economy by eating our meals in local restaurants and shopping in local stores. It's sad to learn that the people of Silverton no longer want the business of OHV vehicle owners and renters. My friends and I will no longer be spending our money in Silverton and hope the town can do without us. We will be looking at other towns that want our business. The Mayor replied: Thank you for your email. This decision, with the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens at the forefront, was not taken lightly. I apologize for any negative impact this decision may have on you and your family and we hope to see you in Silverton in the future. I wrote the following to the owners of the Silver Summit RV Park we stay at: Just letting you know we won't be returning to your park after your city council just voted to ban all OHV traffic in town. We love Silverton but Silverton doesn't love us. The owner wrote back: There might still be a slim chance of overturning the vote, but I don't think that the odds are in our favor. I don't blame you for not feeling the love. We aren't feeling it either. The mayor and much of the current board are definitely not business friendly. ME: So there you have it, a BS reply from the Mayor and the reply from a concerned business owner stating the city council isn't business friendly.

RE: Avoid Silverton Colorado

I can understand, there are so many obnoxiously loud and aggressive OHV's that ruin it for everyone else that do try to be considerate. They should just make the OHV's street legal like a Dual Sport, put license plates on them all nationwide. Enforce the traffic and noise laws and don't punish the non-idiots. But there aren't that many reasonable minded folks around anymore I'm afraid. Its anything goes or nothing goes. Everyone wants zero responsibility. I've been hit by idiots way over their head on the trails, I bet they had issues in the town too. No insurance on those usually, you hit a car or run over a kid, goat, cow, maybe the mayor and look out. I carry liability insurance just in case. No one is perfect, **** happens. :)Our OHV's are plated, insured, and street legal. We also pay an OHV $25 fee to drive in Colorado.

RE: Bilstein shocks, oh yeah.

How are the 4600s when towing? I have Bilstein 5100s on my 2013 dually and they're somewhat firm and have been looking at the 4600s.

Avoid Silverton Colorado

If you RV and own or rent an OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) you can take Silverton Colo. off your list to visit as the town council voted yesterday to BAN ALL OHV traffic inside the city limits. I'm just trying to get the word out as Silverton is a very popular destination for RVers with OHVs. We were in Silverton last September and fell in love with the town and surrounding area. Friends and us have toyhaulers and OHVs. We enjoyed driving our OHVs around town to go to restaurants, shopping, and to get to the outstanding OHV trails leading out of town. Our basecamp was Silver Summit RV park, in town, and it was packed with campers and most had an OHV. The ban will not allow OHVs from this park to access the riding trails. During our stay there we saw all the other RV parks and boondocking sites were also full. Most of these campers were also OHV owners. I don't know the rational behind the city council 4-3 vote yesterday to ban OHVs but it seems to me there is going to be a huge loss of revenue with the absence of OHV people. Time will tell.

RE: RV towing on 5 through San Francisco

Went over the GG bridge with my trailer on Memorial Day no less. Lots of traffic. No issues. Nice thing was we were northbound - no toll.

RE: CA 1 from Monterey (Marina) to Half Moon Bay

Morrow Bay to Half Moon Bay is only 223 miles. Not sure why you'd be looking for diesel if you fill up first (unless I missed something, lol). BTW the Gas Buddy app is your friend for finding gas/diesel.

RE: Best route Provo, UT to Grand Tetons - Help!

Google Maps has 3 routes all within 34 minutes of each other. If mountains bother you stick to the Interstate routes. For me, I'd take the most direct route as it's also approved for truckers.

RE: Running Inverter Generator Safely From Pickup

When I don't want to run the on-board genny I plant my portable 1600w away from the trailer, usually the length of my power cord that I plug into the genny. No issues.

RE: Free Immunizations to Tourists

Here in Tucson the county is trying to come up with ways to entice people to get Covid vaccine. Seems there's a lot of people, like me, that are saying no to the shot. BTW there is no such thing as a 'free' vaccine. Somebody, somewhere paid for that shot with his/her taxes. Remember, the government has no money of its own.

Theoretically you want to know that everything works and hooks to the truck BEFORE signing on the dotted line. Sounds like this CW did it right.

RE: Front Landing Gear

What kind of front landing gear do you have? Mine is hydraulic and part of a 6 strut self-leveling system that I just periodically spray with silicon and wipe off.
