RE: 2017 GMC SIlverado Crew Cab Short Box

GOOD POST^^^^^ I pull a 27' T/T with a gmc crew cab short box 5.3 and have no problems at all, pulls great. just went 7000 mi. to Alaska and I couldn't ask for anything better. a 6.0 engine would be nice but I don't really need one. if I towed all the time then yes maybe. I like 20 + mpg I get on the h-way when not towing. when in Canada and crossing the mountains I could blow buy my B/Ls 40' diesel pusher. As for the Harley, I would have pulled the front wheel and blocked the frame at the rear then pulled the tailgate off. he could have then probably used a standard w/d hitch. Jay D.

RE: Yea, "cheap gas"

RE: Yea, "cheap gas"

That's less than 2.50 a gal how can they do it! the cheapest gas here today is 3.10 that's 6.10 for gas and 12.80 for the burgers. you won't get much of a burger here for 6.40. maybe a burger but they will hold the meat. Jay D.

RE: Yea, "cheap gas"

I started driving and paying for my own gas in 1971 when I was 16 years old. I vividly remember the first time I got gas at the pump myself, for my own car, that I paid for myself from working, making my money ... not sponging off my parents..... it was 17 cents a gallon. I thought that was a horrible price! Well, when I was making $1.60 an hour, it probably was! Yep, I remember the good old times. but for that 1.60 and hour you could buy 5 gal of gas and a burger basket for you and your girl friend and maybe have money left over for two ice cream cones. today you make 25.00 hour you get 2 gal of gas and two SMALL fast food burgers. RE: Black Tank Problems

Do like I had to do and use an old broom handle and knock it down, slosh it away from the poop hole. do this ^^^ then keep using it until your ready to leave. then fill with water and head to the nearest dump station and dump. Jay D.

RE: 2017 Artic Fox Y25

i always thought that Artic Fox was a superior R/V and priced accordingly. that was the T/T i was looking for when we were shopping. i would be REAL pissed. i think i would start by having a large banner made that said LEMON! one that would cover the complete side. then park it at the dealer for a wile. then up to the factory, then any r/v shows in your area and they have a few. post a picture on Crags List. i will just about bet you would get some positive results and fast. Jay D.

RE: 2017 Artic Fox Y25

I would get a good sized dehumidifier in it and get it completely dried out for starters.is the warranty still good? Jay D.

RE: The beginning of a trend? Tipping point reached?

Do ya think that the “fed” raising interest rates could “also” play into this? Or...are we just gonna “bash” the tariffs? It seems that the majority of fault finding points at the tariffs. I may be wrong....but I think the tariffs, are ultimately a good thing. They may cause discomfort at first.....but will help long term! correct, the POTUS I think knows what he's doing, just give it some time. Jay D.

RE: Selecting a dehumidifier

I'm going to drill a hole in my D/H tank and run a hose in into the sink or outside if possible. but it doesn't get that cold here. I can see one freezing up if it was real cold. you might need a heater set to come on at about 35 deg. just enough to keep things from freezing. Jay D.

RE: Selecting a dehumidifier

We have a Ivation ivadm-35 from Amazon, small and inexpensive for storage it works great. I close everything up tight and open everything inside and turn it on and let it run. T/T stays dry and fresh, I dump mine about every other day. but thinking about putting a hose in the tank and letting it go in the sink. best investment I've made for storage of my T/T. Jay D.

RE: Clear coat on Class A

Correct prep and the use of quality products is the answer. and there are over a million auto body shops that spray clear coat every day with no problems. if it didn't work they wouldn't be in business. Jay D.

RE: Clear coat on Class A

My clear coat is failing much like yours, mostly at the top edge of the side walls where it meets the roof. I'm not impressed with the "meth" addicts that they used to spray the original clear coat on my MH at the factory. Apparently inadequate thickness and quality control during application is the problem. I had an RV shop near me do some body work after I was run into by contractor's truck in my driveway. They did amazing repair work and found the last (used) replacement tail light for my MH in America. I asked the shop to estimate repair of the clear coat failure at the roof edges. He said that he estimated fixing a similar failure on another MH at $4,500. He said that his actual cost was $8,500. He paused and then said. . . guess what I'm going to charge you? He then looked me in the eye and said: It's only a motor home you know. He convinced me to live with it. I wouldn't be to hard on the METH HEADS. the factory as typical probably used the cheapest low grade clear coat they could find. there for very little uv protection uvs is most of what's causing your problem. Jay D.

RE: 30A or 50A Choice

this is what I was wondering, can you can plug into a 50 amp supply with a 30amp R/V with a proper adapter? and if so can you draw 50 amp. I guess what i'm try to get to is the cord from the R/V to the power supply on a 30amp R/V is not rated for 50amps. mine looks like # 10. Jay D. If you plug your 30 amp capable RV into a 50 amp source with the proper adapter, you'll only be able to draw a total of 30 amps before the RV's main breaker trips. Only a short in the RV cord itself could draw a heavier load, but the 10GA wires in the cord are capable of tripping a 50 amp breaker if shorted. A partial short could conceivably cause enough heat to melt the insulation before the breaker trips, but that would be an extremely unusual event. thanks Jay D.

RE: 30A or 50A Choice

Since you are in Texas, as I am, I would recommend an RV with 50 amp and two A/Cs. X2^^. In addition, what a lot of folks don't understand is that 50 amp service isn't just 50 amp service. It's two legs/phases of 50 amp service capable of supplying 100 amps total to your RV. There's a HUGE difference between that and single-phase 30 amp service. Rob this is what I was wondering, can you can plug into a 50 amp supply with a 30amp R/V with a proper adapter? and if so can you draw 50 amp. I guess what i'm try to get to is the cord from the R/V to the power supply on a 30amp R/V is not rated for 50amps. mine looks like # 10. Jay D.

RE: 30A or 50A Choice

Here's some food for thought. We have a 5th wheel with a 50 amp system. When we tried to make reservations at a KOA near Pittsburgh last summer, we were denied because they only had 30 Amp sites left when we were going to be in the Pittsburgh area. Even though we don't have a washer/dryer or a second air conditioner so there would be no extra draw than what a 30 Amp camper would pull, our camper is wired in case we were to add those things. We have a 30 Amp to 50 Amp dogbone to make the pedestal connection when necessary and explained all this to the campground owners, but they still would not let us book a site. From what I've been told, many KOA campgrounds are going to this policy and other campgrounds will likely follow this business model in the future. One reason I was interested in this post, was that I had just inquired about a camp site. I asked if I could have a 50 amp site, my T/T is 30amp. I was told I could only have a 30amp site for my 30 amp T/T. Jay D.

RE: 30A or 50A Choice

what about this, if your R/V is setup as 30AMP.and you plug into 50amp with adapter you could overload your 30amp system before the 50 amp breaker would kick. CAN THIS HAPPEN? Jay D.
