RE: Roadmaster or Hellwig

I've got a 2020 DRW with factory airbags and the Roadmaster will not work on it. Helwig does not have one yet for it but is working on one. It was suppose to be available end of March but I called last week and it is still in development.

RE: Host Cascade

Billsnp5, how are you liking your host? How is your truck with your cascade? Is the Host as well made as your AF was. My Cascade is on order, not sure when it will be ready to camp in. Host is pretty backed up manufacturing wise. That's good news I think, as people will wait for quality. Hoping that is the case for the back log. Barry So far we love it. The quality on our AF was good and the Host seems as good so far. The recliners are nice. They are not as comfortable as at home but large very comfortable recliners would take up to much space . I would suggest trying them out. We didn't try any of the other makes with recliners because of the weight difference between the Cascade and the other large truck campers with recliner options. The new truck handles it just fine. The only thing for some reason Ram decided the 3500 didn't need a rear sway bar which seems so dumb. Waiting on Helwig to come out with one for it.

RE: Host Cascade

The main thing I'm looking for in my next camper is comfortable recliners. Doesn't need to be any particular manufacture. I do need to be comfortable with the build quality as I was when I bought my SR from five star rv in henderson colorado. Thanks for the replies, never easy making the final decision. Barry The recliners is why we bought a new Cascade last November. the dining room benches in our previous 990 AF got very uncomfortable after sitting in them for a while.

RE: New 2021 Host Cascade

Finally had time to take the complete rig on a trip. Went to Lake Havasu for a few days. All was as we expected. New truck handled Cascade and boat well. Cascade was very comfortable. https://i.postimg.cc/Fd2gSvnN/80905311-AD52-44-BC-83-A5-CDCD4593-DF07-1-201-a.jpg

RE: Ram 3500 with factory airbags

it does exist as I have one. I have a 5K+ camper on the truck and you can look at picture I posted of the overload spring and they are not being used with 5K+ sitting on truck. I measured the distance from trailer ball to ground before and after loading camper and it measures the same. I cannot say for sure but seems as tho this is a full air suspension rear end.

RE: Ram 3500 with factory airbags

To the OP, your signature states 2017 Ram 3500 DRW. Did you just purchase a new 2021 to replace it, or did you just buy the 2017 and were told it had factory air? I just change my signature, it is a 2020.

RE: Ram 3500 with factory airbags

Maybe I am ovrethinking it. Ram may have to make all the rear suspensions the same but when the airbag system is installed the airbags are suppose to carry all the load like a semi as rhagfo stated above. Attached is a picture of the overloads after truck is supporting weight of camper. https://i.postimg.cc/xcNvq8nN/07-B1-D069-08-C3-47-C0-93-B7-FC926906656-B-1-201-a.jpg

Ram 3500 with factory airbags

I bought a new Ram 3500 DRW with factory airbags for my camper. I just loaded the camper on it for the first time and it looks great. The issue I have is after loading camper the airbags brought the truck up to the same height as it was when unloaded so the overloads are not touching the rubber stops and are not in play. There is a 1 to 1 1/2 inch gap between the rubber stops and bottom of springs. It doesn't make sense that they would even have the overload springs on the truck if they aren't going to be used. I would like the overloads to help the airbags so all weight is not on the airbags. Am I overthinking this or does someone make a bigger rubber stop or something else to put on the overloads. Here is a photo of front stop.https://i.postimg.cc/xcNvq8nN/07-B1-D069-08-C3-47-C0-93-B7-FC926906656-B-1-201-a.jpg

RE: Real world weight sticky?

I think that might be a good idea to have a sticky. I have already weighted my new truck. We are loading everything tomorrow for a first trip and I plan on weighing the complete rig with boat. I will post my real world weights after weighing,

RE: New 2021 Host Cascade

Took the rig out for a test run for a couple of days. It was all we had hoped for. Very comfortable. https://i.postimg.cc/GBxthy5x/77-B1-B465-C0-CF-4-E6-A-A9-FC-23-C50-C984-B84.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KR3Y3VWz/30-D01-BC2-D6-AD-4-C40-ABD0-C8-D3-E5-A876-E0.jpg

RE: New 2021 Host Cascade

Do you have to open both slides if you want to make a quick stop and get in the camper and use the bathroom? Yep, I found the answer in this video SWEET CAMPER though. I should have bought a Cascade instead of my AF 992. We went from AF 990 which is nice but having a dinette and the recliners to relax in made it well worth the upgrade. But as you probably know we did have to pay the price.

New 2021 Host Cascade

Bought a new 2021 Host Cascade Truck Camper and man is it nice. It has everything. Onan generator, full bath, king bed, 2 TV's, fake fireplace, dining table and seat, and 2 recliners. If you go to the Host website you can take a virtual look at it. It is amazing what they can put into a truck bed. We had a Artic Fox 990 which was fun but we wanted to upgrade to a camper with comfortable chairs to relax in. So the 2 recliners cost us around 20k each and it will be well worth it. I know there will be those who will say you could have a nice MH or big trailer with the money we paid but with the truck camper is the only way to go. We can unload camper on ground and have the truck to use for unloading and loading boat, going site seeing or just going to town for more supplies. Of course I know most of you know the reasons for having a truck camper. Cant wait to load up and take a trip to Lake Havasu and camp a few days. I will post a picture of the entire rig with boat when we load up next time.https://i.postimg.cc/Bvq034Hq/1-D533-B34-6-D44-4-D5-B-883-A-BFC2-FADECBED.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/gJjbwsgQ/8-B6776-E7-0667-4-C3-D-8-A86-DD0-A6-F373-A7-D.jpg
