RE: Hitch jack fully extended: Should I be nervous?

If it’s there for a while, lower the hitch on to a jack stand, crank up the jack and add more wood. Reverse to hook back up. Or put the front stab jacks down- on blocks. I have a farm jack that I would use to hold the tounge up and raise the jack to put more wood underneath.

RE: Hitch jack fully extended: Should I be nervous?

I would add more wood so less of the jack is out. When we had our TT I had to use 4 treated 6x6 inch post pieces that I stacked like a pyramid. I also put two pieces stacked under the front stabilizer jacks to add more stability.

RE: Pull Through or Back in sites? Which do you prefer.

If we’re just passing through and only spending one night we like the quick in and out of a pull through. If we’re going to be there awhile then we like the back in.

RE: Why Would Anyone Choose Above Bed Fifth Wheel Rails?

I put rails in my truck because I think it is a more secure way to use my Andersen hitch.

That Dutchman looks like it’s about to break in half.

RE: Short bed or not?

I have a 1t short bed with an Andersen rail mount hitch. No chucking or clunking and it weighs about 40 pounds. I have never come close to hitting my window with the front cap. I have a MorRyde Orbital pin box and have it locked out.

RE: Andersen Ultimate #2 or just the Ultimate

I have the steel version that pins in my rails in the bed. To me it just seems more secure being pinned in four spots instead of just one with the goose ball. I don’t have to worry about dents or deflection of the bed floor. If I had the pucks I’d buy the adapter to pin the steel hitch in.
