RE: Hwy 168 to Shaver Lake in California recommendations

My trailer is 4200 pounds dry and I do not fill the tanks when towing it. A trip to the scales may surprise you.

RE: Hwy 168 to Shaver Lake in California recommendations

I live in Fresno and know that grade well. I would not want to be anywhere near you either coming up the hill and especially going down the hill. Many do it, but I would recommend getting a real tow vehicle first. JMO Keep in mind what the temperature is going to be in Fresno and going up that hill in August. August is usually in the 100+ range.

RE: I need to find 6V batteries

Batteries Plus Bulbs in San Antonio. Duracell 6v. Same battery as Sam's Club if you don't have one. https://www.batteriesplus.com/ usually can save 10% by purchasing and paying online and picking up at store. Bring your core batteries with you!

RE: Narrow Staple Gun

I usually see 1/8" leg staples but seldom see a crown of less than 3/8".

RE: Rock hard ice cream

Super_Dave. Glad your freezer is working for you. Where do you place it? Which model did you get? And in this pandemic, where did you even find one? Amazing how easily a thread gets derailed.;)

RE: % bleach to sanitize fresh water tanks

I pour the bleach into my fresh water hose at the hose bib end. Hook it up and fill my FW tank. Hose is sanitized and so is tank. I've always gone with 1/4 cup to 15 gal.

RE: Buying a new travel trailer-first time buyer

I think most buyers plan on 25 to 30 percent off sticker price or msrp. Remember..most of these units are slapped together without much quality control and you are at the very low end of the scale at that price.

RE: Black spots on ceiling = leak?

In the environment you live in I would keep some DampRid or the cheap knock off from the Dollar store in the camper all the time. I keep three in my trailer all winter.

RE: Money from government

I'm not going to refuse mine but I don't understand the logic of sending me a check. I'm retired and have a retirement and social security. My income has not been affected by this mess. The working (unemployed) could have benefited more if the gov. was not sending checks to us that are unaffected. We may look for a place to re-direct the money we get.

RE: Optimism in the RV Industry

It would be nice if the RV Execs would use this time to re-think their production methods and put Quality at the top of the list. They could come out of this down period with a new fresh look. Sure they are going to cost more, but when you buy a new unit and it's in the shop for the first 5-6 months, how much has that cost you?

RE: LP Detector 12v vs 120v Price ?

Unfortunately it's like anything else for an RV or boat....twice the price. I guess they know they've got us and can charge a higher price. This is basically what my TT has and I will be using to replace. Comes in black or white. Scroll down for black. just copy and paste model number for CA Amazon. Co detector

RE: Thoughts on the 'need' factor of a main line surge protector

Just for clarity...If you do decide to purchase one, for better protection, you DON'T want a "Surge Protector"...You DO want an "EMS".

RE: Upgrading head and bars only on EQ hitch?

Glad to see they have changed their ways since I traded up to my current trailer. I had to purchase an entire new hitch. They retain their value pretty well so it wasn't a total loss.
