RE: Driving from Tetons to Yellowstone

What you need to do, is get a move on early in the AM. Don't be sitting in the 3 Bear Pancake House chomping down on a large stack and sucking down coffee.

RE: how to leave home

Absolutely turn off the water! Then turn off the energy source for the water heater. If electric, kick the breaker, if gas, turn off the pilot light. If you have a driveway, make sure newspapers, or anything dropped off doesn't sit there for a long time. If somebody is going to be checking the inside, have them bring along several buckets of water to flush the pottys' with.

RE: Nothing But Respect - College Football.......

thomasmnile, sure was expected. Just how it was going to go down was the intriguing part. Pretty much the same exit from the Gators, medical and carrying baggage. You won't make me believe he is "Retiring". Now to watch the recruiting, commits and de-commits.

RE: Paying for electricity

RobWNY, the park charges the $2.00 and they read the meter. If you think $2.00 is high, try the Phoenix and Tucson areas!

RE: Paying for electricity

Something to ask, is there a meter reading fee and if so how much? Most snowbird destination parks in Arizona have a meter reading fee. The price can vary by quite a bit. The park we were stayed in Yuma had a $2.00 a month reading fee.

RE: Is Yuma safe

Thunder Mountain, you touched on a joke we always bring up at Happy Hours. Always wear a flack jacket, hard hat, football hip pads anytime after 7 AM on that Wednesday. And as far as I'm concerned Fry's contributes to this dilemma. Those huge carts the employees use to load groceries on for customer pick-up in the parking lot blocking aisles, and their stupid corporate "Huddle Meetings" at 10 AM held between the checkout stands and product shelves.

RE: Henry's Lake, ID.

zigzagrv, list his town as Nazareth, PA., Thus why while parked in Yuma, AZ. for the winter, I asked him about the old track property. zigzagrv and us have both been to Henry's Lake, ID.

RE: Let's talk NBA basketball for a moment...

"Ginobli, Ginobli, Ginobli", as Sir Charles Barkley would say on the TBS telecasts.

RE: Let's talk NBA basketball for a moment...

akaPedro, yes as far as I am concerned, it is all the above. I can't tell you typing what it actually is, but they use it in NCAA basketball as well. And if you watch some of the high profile high school players, they use it also.

RE: Discount Tire Black Friday 10-20% off

I use Discount Tire quite frequently. But if having dual's mounted check for proper spacing between air valves and make sure they put in metal valve stems. Some of their shops aren't up to speed on this segment of the tire business. Bucky, I personally like that they don't do alignment, because at most tire shops such as Big O, they like give you a whole laundry list of parts the front end MIGHT need. Of course the parts are a commission item so they want to sell whether you need them or not. I really prefer alignment shops only, no tire sales and vice versa, sell tires and no front end work.

RE: Snowbird Rentals

Like the previous poster said. Craig's List under "Yuma Craig's List' then "vacation rentals", how many do you want? Rentals available in some parks and the Foothills.

RE: Is Yuma safe

This being our 15th season in Yuma, 12 1/2 at a park and now 2 1/2 at our own RV lot here in the Foothills, crime has never been a concern of ours. My buddy and I would walk 3.9 miles beginning at 5 AM for years until we left the park. He now goes alone. We have a gate on our RV lot, locked during the summer while we are north, gets unlocked the day we get back and STAYS unlocked and wide open until the day we leave. There is no more of a problem here than anywhere else. If your concerned about the clos-by border, forget it, turn off the northern TV and come on down!

RE: Diesel fuel prices - have they been dropping?

Here in Yuma, AZ. at Fry's, diesel had been $3.15, but the other day it "dropped" to $3.07. With T-Day coming and along the I-8 corridor, I imagine it will jump back up.

RE: Nascar Follies

Never forget sitting in the stands, I believe 1976, at Daytona when the "King" and David tangled coming to the finish line and with the "King" in the grass and David bringing the Wood Brothers, Purolator #21 across the finish line with the starter for the win. The "King's" crew came across pit road trying to get him to the finish line by pushing. In todays FRANCECAR, I could just hear Steve O'Donnell trying to explain that on the Monday morning Drive or what ever it is called! Another time at Daytona when, I think it was Cale and David, on the back stretch going into turn 3 with the race in closing laps, David leading and Cale closing with the draft, David did a brake check on Cale and of course Cale had to hit the binders and that broke his momentum. Never saw another driver that could run 500 miles, climb out of the race car looking like he looked when he started the race. Of course this was before cool suits, power steering, etc.

RE: yuma or bust

There are many parks along the I-8, N Frontage and S. Frontage Rds. Of course amenities vary. Beware of the parks along N. Frontage Rd. as a lot of folks complain about the Union Pacific RR. This is our 15th year in the Yuma area. The parks "downtown" tend to have very small spaces as they have some age to them. And like another poster stated, there are hundreds of private lots available here in the Foothills. Please PM me if I can be of more help!

RE: Nascar Follies

That deal with Fanatics was highly criticized when FRANCECAR pulled the stunt. I was at the Vegas race the first season they were doing it. The complaining and just general "what the hell is this" could be everywhere at the track. And then the TV ratings at Martinsville: https://sports.yahoo.com/tv-ratings-martinsville-cup-series-race-worst-20-years-133258082.html

RE: best RV Park in Quartzsite

Quail Run RV Park. Just north of I-10 on west side of road. Completely redone about 5 years ago. Sites have room and if you are a large rig there is plenty of room to navigate. If you are going in prime time, they could be full.
