RE: When do jets fly at Va. Beach?

Since neither the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds are based there, you pick your poison. Since we used to get in the area quite frequently, there is no way of knowing when. Like here in Yuma, AZ. at the Marine Corps Air Station, sometimes they fly over our RV lot and then we may not see them for several days or weeks.

RE: Pine Grove Furnace State Park PA

Bucky, when we lived about 30 miles from there, that was our favorite state park. We also used to go there when my wife and I were dating and rent a canoe. It was interesting to talk to the thru hikers on the Appalachin Trail in the evenings down on the porch of the store. Did you check out the lake, that has to be some of the coldest water during the summer that we swam in. That price is just crazy.

RE: Nascar Follies

Sure looks like the interest in the two NASCAR threads on here are about the same as the interest in the organization and TV viewership!

RE: Im in myrtle beach.. hurricane help.

Like mlburst said, don't WAIT for mandatory evacuation to be in place. Don't remember what year, but in the 90's, a beautiful Wednesday morning I walked up to the store for the morning paper. For several days each morning I would converse with a guy from Charlotte. I knew what day he was due to leave but this morning he was packing it in. I asked him what he was doing and he said that "they had issued a voluntary evacuation and he was outta of there. He asked if we had ever been run out, which all the years we had been coming we never had. He described the situation, I went down to the rig, told my wife we were packing it in. A friend that we had met years before from the ST. Louis area came down and inquired what I was doing. Told him and he quickly named me "throw and go Bob". The next season we get down there, and he comes grinning. He said if you ever leave under a voluntary evacuation, make sure I'm on your bumper"! What a story. When it became mandatory he left. It was in the morning, 12 hours later he was all the way to Camping World on RT 501. Spent the night there, than the next morning headed on East. Finally got a bite to eat in Knoxville, TN. He said "NEVER AGAIN"! We simply drove out like any other time and headed Northwest.

RE: Onan generator fuel filter replaced with a fitting

fred42, I also have the stupid Onan Marque 7000 that I installed new in our fiver in 2004. Of course it had the notorious gas drip at the filter below the carb after some use. Saw on a forum that Onan had brought out a solid piece to replace the leaking fuel filter. Got the part number than stopped by a "certified Onan service" joint. They had the replacement part hanging on their display boards, picked one up and took it to the checkout counter. The guy tried in the worst way to talk me out of that purchase and replace with another potential leaky POS. Said "we never install that replacement part". Needless to say I was out the door with the replacement part and have had no drips since. As far as a recall, never saw or heard of one and I bought the genny from Rocky Mountain Onan so it was traceable. Other Onan problems, yes.

RE: NASCAR dying a slow death!

mookystinks, you are correct about Rod selling but Barney is closing up shop. Sure feel bad for the crew guys who are going to have move back to Charlotte for jobs. I'll bet you they aren't going to get what Barney was paying them to be in Denver.

RE: NASCAR dying a slow death!

Cloud, they did have a good crowd, but several things entered into the good crowd. Location, Sunday afternoon, and ticket deals. By the way in the commercial for Dega next month, I see with soft sided coolers you can bring in eats and drinks, and free weekend camping. Might be a continuation of the "Throw Back Look". What I would give for a bag of Bojangles biscuits!

RE: Nascar Follies

Hard to believe, but 50 years ago today, my wife and I were at the Southern 500 while stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. We had seen NASCAR on several short tracks when they were on what was called the "Northern Tour" prior to this.

RE: Converters

I have an Alfa Gold also with a 80 amp converter. I really don't use it anymore since I put solar and an inverter/charger. I believe the reason for the 80 amp at birth for mine was all 12v stuff plus the ability to charge the two batteries. You can certainly go lower but don't go too far. Try donrowe.com I also say no WFCO converters! I have changed numerous WFCO converters out for friends. Personally a POS.

RE: Virginia City Montana ?'s

There is some parking at the one end of Virginia City. But I sure wouldn't waste a day of no Yellowstone to walk the short street of Virginia City.

RE: Nascar Follies

Cloud, since I'm sure there will be more hoopla over the "throw back paint jobs and etc. than racin, I'll settle for some "throw back" racin. The hump in what use to be turn 4 was great, but since they turned the track around it is now turn 2. Loved to see the cars skate across the hump toward the wall. Boiled peanuts, fried chicken, beer, what a Labor Day weekend it used to be.

RE: Trip Report: WA to Yellowstone/Grand Teton NPs and back.

Huckleberry Hunter, glad you made mention of Teton Pass out of Jackson toward Idaho Falls. We spend quite a bit of time in the Yellowstone and Teton areas during the summer. We travel that road quite frequently with just our dually. It is not uncommon when descending into Jackson to see hot or burnt up RV brakes. And again when pulling the hump to see overheating. RVers, please take note of what Huckleberry Hunter posted and take the bypass he mentioned.

RE: Between Yellowstone and Glacier???

Just west of GNP on US 2 in Columbia Falls is a zip line and a water park. At Kalispell City Airport you can take flights over western Montana.

RE: Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!!!

Mr. Moderator, too far gone. The All-American word GREED. All the big time programs have prostituted themselves to corporate America. Bend over to what the networks want for more money. Sign contracts with Nike, Adidas, and the new big boy on the block, Under Armor. The coaches are signed to mega-buck contracts for one thing only, W's. They have had their own parameters for years but maybe the noose may be tightening in the future but I really doubt it.
