RE: Rice Ranch RV, Quartzsite

I have stayed at Rice Ranch. Nice people. Very Large flat gravel park. No trees. Be fully self contained. No pool or rec hall. Easy in Easy out. Some areas better than others for OTA TV reception, just like all of Q. Right across the road from the BIG TENT. Short walking distance to a huge field of venders. I would go back with no regrets.

RE: Route 13 & Route 17 to Fl

Taking Rt13 down across the CBBT is easy peezy and beautiful. Just turn off your propane to cross the bridge. Once in Virginia Beach I usually jump onRt58 west to connect with 95 south. I have not used Rt17 so I know nothing about it.

RE: For those with no bathroom access during travel mode.

For us, having access to everything or at least bathroom, refridge and bed is essential. It is a deal breaker every time.

RE: camping in Delaware

I suggest Lums Pond Campground. It is ALL full hookups. It is right on the pond with a dock and hiking trails around the pond. Lums Pond is much easier to get in and out of and is very close to main highways. It is also very big rig friendly. Elk Neck is beautiful but the road to it has many twists and turns. And, trees are very close and encroaching into the road.

RE: Does your slide interfere with any operation.....

Yes. I can get to kitchen and bathroom with the front slide in. I can get to the bed with the bed slide in. I just cannot walk around the bed. I can totally live with both slides in. I would not have bought the motorhome if I could not.

RE: Tips on asking friends for mootchdocking?

I would just ask. If I would be parked in their driveway a couple days at the most. If I was parked in a side or back yard maybe 5 days. It also depends on how close a friend. I would never ask for any amenities like water or electric. If offered I would partake but return the favor with $$ or a gift or dinner. Also, do not drag everything out if the RV. Awning out and a couple chairs. Don't make it look like you have moved in. just my 2 cents.

RE: Florida to Arizona Trip

Mark Twain gave a good answer but if you are pulling a toad I would change the 50ph to 40 or 45 mph.
I agree.
Retired means that I am in no hurry. I get tired after about 4 hours of driving. My daily travel distance ends up being around 200 miles.

RE: Who Tows a VAN 4 down ?

I tow a 2004 chevy astro cargo van 4 wheel down behind a motorhome. I have a REMCO drive shaft disconnect on it. Been using the drive shaft disconnect for about 16 years. Works great. REMCO is still around but it appears they are not selling the disconnect anymore. Sad. An American company called SUPERIOR DRIVELINE out of Iowa sells a drive shaft disconnect.
