RE: Hiwy 61 Missouri and Iowa

There are no washouts due to flooding. Not sure if you prefer 2 lane highways, but 218 is a much nicer 4 lane divided highway. 27, 61 & 218 run together from just west of Hannibal up to almost the Iowa state line. My route would be 218 to Iowa City, I-80 East to Davenport and then 61 North to Dubuque. I live in Davenport and have travelled to both Branson and the Dells many times.

RE: Dump valve won't close all the way

Pick up an add on valve. It will attach just like the hose and you will not need to take a shower after taking off the cap. Just use gloves and a bucket to catch the black water that has seeped past, attach the temporary valve and go. Its a temporary fix until you can repair the one that is supposed to work. Any camping supply store should have one. My new FW had a grey tank valve that would not close all the way. I picked up an add on valve to avoid a shower when trying to dump. After using the add on valve 1 time there was enough water in the holding tank to free whatever was causing it to stick. May not be as lucky with a black tank but certainly does not hurt to try.

RE: Bunk house conundrum and older kids

I has a similar issue where I wanted the rear living area but still had a need for a small bunk room. I found the Grand Design Reflection 31MB (mid-bunk) to work perfectly for us. I have no issues with pin weight, it provides ample room for the family and provides for a separate sleeping area for the kids.

RE: Andersen Hitch questions

I have 6" of bed rail clearance with the ball dropped to the lowest setting. Not sure of I can actually get to 90 degrees but thinking I could get pretty close in a pinch. FW is level while towing and have never had to use blocks to unhitch. So far have been very happy with the AU hitch.

RE: RV Blinds

We don't mind blinds but would like to see blackout/room darkening blinds in the bedrooms. In every RV we have owned we have put up the reflective sunshields behind the blinds to keep the area dark in the mornings. This works fine unless you want sunlight in that area when not sleeping because you have to open the blind take down the sunshield and then store the sunshield somewhere.
