RE: Corpus Christi/Rockport/North Padre

Currently you can not camp in the county or State Park. State park closed yesterday. I don't know if National Sea Shore is still open or not.

RE: US Closes Mexican and Canadian borders

1 The United States has reached mutual agreements with Canada and Mexico to restrict non-essential travel across our northern and southern borders. Here in Weslaco, TX 5 miles from the border they said that anyone with scheduled Dental work could go ahead and have it done.

RE: Made back into the US without a passport!

I had the same thing happen to me last year down here in Progreso also while having dental work done. Only I didn't have the wife's as a backup. I just showed him my driver's license and he ran it through the computer and said; "yep I see where you were just over here yesterday with your passport. Have a nice day."

RE: Mission Texas Weather

By the way I just looked at the 15 day weather forecast for both us and Fort Meyers and we have 10 days at 75 or higher vs your 5 days. You have 2 days where the lows are in the 40's and we don't have any predicted. I'm currently paying $540 a month whereas you are probably north of $1,000. Come on over.

RE: Mission Texas Weather

Currently in the Mission area (Weslaco) yes the winds can be strong at times, but they aren't constant. I got here around December 10 and I only know of one time that the winds blew hard enough to worry me. This is our 3rd year in the Valley and we'll be back again next year. By the way I live in the Louisville Ky area and while we were down here last year the winds were so strong back home that they blew my Grill over. So my point is the wind can blow anywhere.

RE: Mexico Medical

I don't know anything about Reynosa however Nevo Progresso about 25 miles to the east is very safe.

RE: Texas Beach Camping

I 2nd Port Aransas for camping on the beach. I pull a 40 foot 5th wheel with my diesel and we have camped 3 different times on the beach in Port Aransas. If you want Corpus Christi area then check out the Texas State Park there on Mustang Island about 5 miles from Corpus. We recently stayed there for 6 nights. It isn't directly on the beach but only about a city block from it. Easy walking distance to it.

RE: US post new Mexican travel warnings

I arrived in Weslaco, TX which is about 5 miles from Nuevo Progreso Mexico on December 10th. So far I have driven over once and walked over once. Last year I stayed in this same area and went over at least 10 times if not more. Going again Monday or Tuesday. One of the safest places I have ever been.

RE: Family Reunion ideas around Paducah, KY

Can't say they have any activities as we only pulled in for an overnight however I promised myself if I ever need a place to stop near here again it would definitely be here. Duck Creek RV Park Very reasonable priced and they probably have the best swimming pool I have ever seen in a RV park and we didn't even use it. They also gave us a male and female rubber ducks. We put those ducks on the dashboard where they rode with us for 10,000 miles before someone reached into our truck and took one of them.

RE: Passports

This past winter I stayed in Weslsco, TX. I went over into Mexico on a number of occasions for dental work. One day I forgot my passport, all I had was a driver's license on me. I showed my license and said I was over there for dental work and had forgotten my passport. The guy looked on the computer and said yep I see you were just here yesterday. Have a good day. Didn't give me any flak whatsoever.

RE: Harvest Host

Some of the most enjoyable memories I have had camping came as being a member of Harvest Hosts. All that was suggested to me was to do the wine tasting sample which usually runs anywhere from $3 to $5. That being said I usually buy 2 or more bottles of wine per visit. I've stayed as little as 1 night but have stayed 3 nights and it was made known to me that I could stay more if I wished.
