RE: Family Reunion ideas around Paducah, KY

Can't say they have any activities as we only pulled in for an overnight however I promised myself if I ever need a place to stop near here again it would definitely be here. Duck Creek RV Park Very reasonable priced and they probably have the best swimming pool I have ever seen in a RV park and we didn't even use it. They also gave us a male and female rubber ducks. We put those ducks on the dashboard where they rode with us for 10,000 miles before someone reached into our truck and took one of them.

RE: Passports

This past winter I stayed in Weslsco, TX. I went over into Mexico on a number of occasions for dental work. One day I forgot my passport, all I had was a driver's license on me. I showed my license and said I was over there for dental work and had forgotten my passport. The guy looked on the computer and said yep I see you were just here yesterday. Have a good day. Didn't give me any flak whatsoever.

RE: Harvest Host

Some of the most enjoyable memories I have had camping came as being a member of Harvest Hosts. All that was suggested to me was to do the wine tasting sample which usually runs anywhere from $3 to $5. That being said I usually buy 2 or more bottles of wine per visit. I've stayed as little as 1 night but have stayed 3 nights and it was made known to me that I could stay more if I wished.

RE: Allowing non-housebroken dog to move in

I forgot that yesterday morning around 6am I heard her trying to get out of the crate. I immediately got out of bed and took her outside and watched her urinate. I let her come back inside and decided that I would be getting up for good in about an hour so I let her get in her bed and went back to bed. My wife got up just as I was going to bed and walked out into the kitchen and stepped right into the dog's poop! I think my dog is starting to get dementia.

RE: Allowing non-housebroken dog to move in

My dog will be 19 in January. She has started having accidents. Last week I bought her one of those traveling cages. She had an accident (diarrhea) in it the 3rd night (around 3am). I took her outside and cleaned the cage out and put her back in it. One hour later she had diarrhea again. Last night we had to go out for a couple of hours so I put her in the cage. Today is the 4th day since her last accident. I love my dog but I know it is just a matter of time before her next accident. I think the traveling cage will help me from getting upset at her when she has her accidents.

RE: RV parks near Geogretown, Ky

It's held at the Horse Park where they have camping electric and water but no sewer. Kentucky Horse Park This one here about 15 miles away offers all 3. Whispering Hills As for the weather: high 60's low 70's with rain chances pretty good.

RE: Southeast Texas to the Smoky Mountains

First off most RV parks are closed in the winter by 5PM so I’d be looking at the Saturday start. From where you are to Memphis is 576 miles which in a RV is a very long haul. Going to take you around 9 and a half hours just to drive it and that doesn’t include time for your gas and other stops. A more logical stop (443 miles) would be in downtown Little Rock right on the river. Downtown Tell them you want a spot that backs up (you can also pull in) to the river. From Little Rock, Nashville is only 350 miles which is very doable. While I haven’t stayed here Nashville I have been by the RV park on a number of occasions and it is only 3 miles from the Grand Ole Opry. I’ve stayed here in Pigeon Forge Smokies it’s a nice park conveniently located and the trolley stops right in front of the RV park. Course I don’t know if you want to be riding a trolley or not in the winter time. On the way home if you put in Pigeon Forge and your city it wants to bring you back through Birmingham and Baton Rouge 1,030 miles vs 1,007 coming back the same way you went. Birmingham and I10 will beat you to death, I wouldn’t do it in a RV if I didn’t have to. To me it makes more sense to come home the same way you went and if you do than this would be the time to consider Tom Sawyer because from Pigeon Forge to there would be 425 miles and would still leave you 582 miles to do on your last day. I would bite the bullet and figure 2 nights on the way home. Possibly staying at Parkers Crossroad Nice Park which is 315 miles from Pigeon Forge and maybe Texarkana, AR for the 2nd night right at 400 miles at either exit 7 Rising Sunor down on 59 south of Texarkana at RV Park Remember it’s winter time so call ahead early for reservations or they will be closed when you get there. I would definitely make a reservation in Pigeon Forge at least 2 months in advance if not more.

RE: Bar Harbor Campground

CloudDriver, I have read that Bar Harbor has a shuttle. Did you take the shuttle, while you were in the area? I stayed there for 15 nights. They take cash or check no cc. They have a shuttle, I didn't use it. We had 2 different sites for our stay. Didn't have a problem getting a site. Make sure you get the Lobster dinner delivered to your site. 2 lobsters, 2 ears of corn and 2 pounds of mussels. It was 34.95 delivered to the site back about 4 years ago.

RE: Snowbird Report Card

We were also in the valley more specific Weslaco and out of 93 days we probably only had to stay in 20 or so days without Happy Hour

RE: Niagara Falls, NY State Park info needed

It would be very hard to walk to all the attractions however I reckon it could be done. I doubt they would let your dog in tho.

RE: Roof vent lid gone... how did this happen?

Ref the comments about children: Yes, I had to put my 7 year old granddaughter through it once because I couldn't find the keys to get in.

RE: Boondocking in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland

As a member of both Boondockerswelcome.com and Harvest Hosts, I had no problem finding places to boondock in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. My favorite place of all time was at Hennigar's Farm Market in Wolfville, NS I pulled a 40ft 5th wheel.

RE: Rio Grande Valley question

I stayed in Harlingen last year at a place called Eastgate. 6 month rate was $785 for a first time visitor. The people were nice but could barely fit the 5th wheel on the site. This year I moved over to Weslaco at a place called Ranchero Village rate is right at $500 per month but the sites are wide and long with free cable and high speed internet included. Lots of activities here, friendly people. Ranchero Village

RE: How far south do you need to go for Christmas

I'm staying at Ranchero Village, Weslaco Texas about $500 a month includes cable and high speed internet for a very nice slab site that is wide enough to park your RV and vehicle aide by side. 82 yesterday expecting to hit 79 later today and 80 tomorrow. Supposed to hit 49 Sunday before going back up into the 60's
