RE: Quarantine for Florida trip?

There are no restrictions in Florida of any kind. The few local "recommendations" are pretty much ignored. Florida and our leaders pretty much have a "let em die" as long as the money keeps coming in attitude. We have been told our population is old so they will die anyway. So your only concern is for your personal safety and what you feel comfortable doing to keep yourself safe. Don't expect masks or social distancing for the most. Here it's business as if there is nothing going on. Chuck

RE: Comcast to charge extra for exceeding 1.2 TB data

I see dish got there act together, finally! It wasn't Dish that got their act together, it was Nexstar. They are the ones that ask unreasonable rates to carry their programming. The same stations with other owners never left the Dish lineup. Eventually, they all figure out it is costing them money in advertisers and get reasonable. Chuck

RE: Air Conditioner does not act right "some times"

Our front and rear do the exact same thing. I have replaced the electronics and it did not correct the issue. I recently replaced the thermistor style thermostats with digital ones and the problem has gone away. But we have not used them a lot so time will tell. For years we just never set them to auto and just used the high or low setting. I have hopes this is now resolved. I am pretty sure the issue is not with the AC units themselves. Chuck

RE: Zero-G water hoses

I think some of you are confusing Zero G with other brands of hose. I shop both Lowes and Home Depot and the Zero G hoses sold at both have metal ends. I have never seen Zero G hoses with plastic ends anywhere. Ours is out in the sun all the time here in Florida and shows no signs of deterioration. We use it all the time hooked up to the pressure water at the campsites. The bursting strength on the zero G is 650 PSI. If a campground produces more than that water pressure, there is a serious problem. Ours gets run over by the cars often when stretched across the driveways at home. No issues there either. Chuck

RE: Visible cell provider introducing 5G

It will be years before 5G is available to most of the country, if ever. It doesn't matter who the provider is. Chuck

RE: Latest Dish News Blackout ???

Dish Now Missing 236 Channels Due to Fee Fights. https://tvanswerman.com/2020/12/05/dish-now-missing-236-channels-due-to-fee-fights/ Most aren't worth watching anyway. I haven't missed anything since they dropped a few here in Tampa. They are not missing 236 channels from our available channels. Only about 3. So this headline is very misleading. These channels affect 115 markets or a little more than 2 channels per market on average. Not exactly earth-shattering. Chuck

RE: Latest Dish News Blackout ???

They have done it, my favorite channels now gone off DISH. Thanks Nextel! The only channel blacked out here is WGN, so what, that can keep it. Someone has to attempt to resist the strong arming, which is just for show anyway, as the annual $5 per month increase comes @ March. Here I have lost WGN, they are trying to be another News Station, like we need another, and the local NBC. We don't watch NBC much either. They have become All Reality TV. Unfortunately, we are too far away for OTA. But this too shall pass. We can always switch from Tampa to Orlando and get back all but WGN. Chuck

RE: Latest Dish News Blackout ???

The FCC or Congress could stop these retransmission disputes from using the viewers as hostages by allowing the service providers to use out of market stations during blackouts. :R You do realize that FCC AND Congress ALLOWED this to happen by changing the rules/laws to allow OTA TV stations to DEMAND "payment" to those stations in order for Cable AND Satellite providers to be able to rebroadcast those Stations? Station owners felt they were being "cheated" out of revenue as Cable and Sat markets grew and lobbied to get a ruling in favor of the TV station owners.. Additionally, you do realize that in most areas of the US you CAN also BYPASS the dish or cable and view the OTA channels DIRECTLY without the middle man? Just takes a OTA antenna and flipping your TV to OTA channels.. Not impossible and you WILL get a much better pix in full HD (you only get SD OTA channel quality on Dish).. Not to mention using OTA you get the additional SUBCHANNELS of each OTA broadcast channel.. Dish does not provide those channels and I suspect neither does Direct or most cable systems.. Except for the millions of us that are too far from any broadcasting towers to receive OTA. Chuck

RE: Beware Camco Water Heater Tank Rinser

Try one of these, you'll have to be extremely patient & lucky, but it beats leaving that thing in there. Thanks. I have ordered one of these. Hope it does the job. Chuck

Beware Camco Water Heater Tank Rinser

I bought one of these to clean my hot Water tank. Five seconds after I started, the long tube blew off inside the water heater where it now permanently resides. I don't know what this means for the future of the water heater but would advise others to use extreme caution in using this poorly designed and manufactured device. Chuck

RE: Options to Winegard Trav'ler

We have both the Travl'er and a portable dish. In almost every park we have been in that has so much tree cover the Winegard did not get a signal, we couldn't find a place for the portable that could get a signal either. Chuck
