RE: RV state sticker map opinions

I have been on a lot of road trips and flights and slept in a lot of states that I did not take my RV too. Maybe I need a second map.

RE: Arctic Fox Roof

That is what I did on my 5th wheel. No problems and they have been installed for 8 years now.

RE: Putting new decals over old.

I agree with Gdetrailer on this. Do it right the first time or you will be doing it again.

RE: GM 'o7classic LBZ dsl 6 spd to '21 L5P dsl 10 spd report

After reading your post and stopping by my local Chevy dealer I'm thinking about ordering a new 2022 Chevy 3500 SRW with the Duramax. So I assume that you had to get a new B&W companion hitch? Is the height of the new truck and the old truck similar?

RE: Toilet burping

It could be the vent as others have said but my bet is that the black tank is still full. Go ahead and add more water but keep a close eye on the toilet so that it does not overflow.

RE: Reseal questions on or near roof

None of your photos showed up. Dicor will work great on all except the Thule racks. I would need to see a photo to help you on that.

RE: Tire Pressure Q

Set the tire pressure cold. Yes they will go up as they warm up but that is OK.

RE: BAttery replacement.

When I bought my 5th wheel it had two 6 volt golf cart batteries that were dead. I replaced them with the same type of batteries. After seven years I decided that I should have more battery power so I bought four 6 volt golf cart batteries, that was five years ago and I expect to get another three - five years out of them.

RE: Wastewater Tote & Fresh Water Containers - Do you use them?

I use to carry two 6 gallon Aqua containers but now I use a 40 gallon fresh water tank in the truck and pump the water to the trailer. For gray water I use three 5 gallon orange buckets with lids. My black tank is 45 gallons and will last a couple weeks then we take the trailer to the dump station.

RE: Long term camping questions

Our 5th wheel trailer is parked on gravel when we are home and there is nothing under the tires. No need to support the slide outs.

RE: Heading North in a few days - are campsites crowded?

We came north on 93 two weeks ago. Boondocked all the way.

RE: Toad on Trailer vs 4 Down

I would use the trailer before I crawl under the truck to disconnect the driveshaft. I use to use a car trailer to haul a show car and it became very easy and fast to load and unload. I don't know what type of camping you plan on doing but have you thought about what to do with the trailer once you are set up at camp?

RE: Uneven Dually tire wear

So have you been rotating the tires? I would put the spare tire on and see what happens to it. It is time for 6 or 7 new tires.

RE: Solar expert please help me understand

I unplugged my converter 8 years ago when I installed my solar. It has been a couple years since I have be in a RV park but if I was my batteries would be charging from solar not the power post. I most likely would be plugged into the power post to run a heater or air conditioning.

Yes, but don't do it.

RE: New Dually - Need Hitch, Toolbox, Rolling Cover Advice

I love my B&W hitch but mine is before the puck system and kind of hard to remove. I don't know if you plan on doing much boondocking but if you do you might want to think about adding a 50 gallon water tank at the front of the bed and a rear tool box built for a 5th wheel.

RE: Solar Questions

I unplugged my converter seven years ago. My solar keeps my batteries charged. You can leave stuff plugged in when you power on your inverter. Your satellite dish will need to reboot after you turn the inverter on. I clean my panels with soap and water a couple times a year.

RE: Battery Percentage Before Charging.

This way a shunt based battery meter is so much better than reading battery voltage. When I checked this morning I'm at 81% SOC. My voltage is 12.2. My batteries started charging when the sun came up.

RE: Painting of RV

Call your insurance company and ask them who they use for RV repair and paint.

RE: Boondocking and working with no electricity

The simple solution is to stop working. I stopped 12 years ago and now I can enjoy life. The next best option is to spend less $$ on gas and buy some batteries, battery monitor, inverter, solar panels, and controller.
