The politicians that the union supports aren't for the American Worker. They scratch the backs of the union bosses and the union bosses donate to their political campaigns. The worker is there to support both of them with their dues. The retirees of the company that I worked for just got what little retiree benefits we had taken away from us by the company. UAW International has said that they won't help us. My two brothers worked for a company for over 40 years each when they shut down. They were owed a huge severance package but never received it. Their union refused to help them. If you ain't paying dues you are left to fend for yourself.

There is a two tier wage system and temporary workers because the union gave it their blessing. GM workers getting higher wages and benefits will probably result in less sales for GM because the prices of their vehicles will have to be higher. The unions are political entities and maybe they want to help trigger a recession for obvious political reasons.

My personal experience is that our pooled dues were put to good use when we hired an experienced arbitrator to stand for us in contract negotiations. We got way more than we could have without a hired gun, money well spent. I'm glad that you had good experiences with your union arbitrations and they went well. The place that I worked at was bought out by a Canadian company in 2007 and after that point there wasn't an arbitration win by the union employees. Hmmm, wonder how that happens. We gave up our pension plan to keep our job. We took wage and benefit cuts to keep our job. A lot of us were laid off for years and a lot lost their recall rights. We did have a retiree medical expense account that helped out with our medical bills but that recently got taken away from us. Supposedly there was an arbitration on this very thing back in 2012 and we lost. No one knew about it until recently when the company told us that. The then vice-president says that he didn't even know anything about the arbitration. Can you smell a rat?

There is a lot of corruption news about the union bosses. There is even some where the staff were forced to contribute donations for flowers of the workers who had passed. They said that the top officials pocketed a lot of that money. It don't know if it's been proven yet but I have no doubt that they did that. Where I worked it was proven that the bargaining committee was charging the union for hours of negotiating a contract when they weren't. Nothing was done about it. The concept of a union is good but greed and corruption usually win out.

I retired from a supplier and was a member of the UAW. We were making peanuts compared to what the Big 3 are making. Probably about 50% or less of what they were making when benefits are taken into consideration. We were making those wages so parts could be sold to the Big 3 at a cheaper price and therefore the Big 3 could pay their workers more. The UAW wants to showcase what the Big 3 make and don't give a squat about what the suppliers make. The only thing that the UAW did for us is to hold us down. We were making more in 2007 than what the same workers at the same plant are making today. We had to take a huge cut in pay and benefits just to keep our job. Check into the FBI investigation that is going on now about the UAW leaders. The UAW is corrupt to the core and I'm sure that most others are too. There was proven corruption from our local leaders but nothing was ever done about it.

When they make an EV that will run for 400+ miles between charges and take less than 10 minutes to fully charge one I might consider one. Until then it's an ICE for me.

I've been thinking that there may be a turbo in the future for this engine. If a 3.5 can make the power that it does I have to wonder where a turbo would take this engine. Are there any reasons why a turbo wouldn't work with this engine? The 7.3 as is would have more than enough power to do anything I'd want it to do so fuel mileage would be my only concern. I do expect it to have better mileage than my 6.2 but only time will tell.

The green line shows how much torque is available under about 4500rpm than any other compared engine. I haven't ever had an engine with a turbo so I'd like to know how they work. First of all that's a very impressive torque curve for the Eco Boost. I wish my 6.2 had one like that. When it's running 2,000 rpms would the amount of torque shown be with the turbo running? Does the turbo start running at a certain rpm or at a certain level of throttle position? If the turbo isn't running at 2,000 rpms would the torque be less? Just wanting to understand a little more.

As you already know the HDPP has heavier axles, heavier suspension, heavier shocks and LT E tires. Provided you were staying within rear axle rating and you already had LT E tires I would consider Timbrens which will provide additional suspension without impacting the unloaded ride and putting on some Bilstien shocks. That would give you a pretty good idea of how the HDPP would handle before making a large $ decision. I would run a good WD hitch. Good luck, Stu I have Bilstein 4600's on the rear, I haven't replaced the front yet. I just can't imagine how having a stiffer suspension would help with stability in the wind- which is my problem. Now if I was hitting a bump and it was bouncing excessively or from side to side I would say I needed heavier springs,etc. That's not the problem. I have bad tendonitis in both elbows, the solid front axle of the F250 transfers dips, bumps in the road back to the steering wheel. This excessive movement of the steering wheel increases the inflammation in my elbows so I can't drive as far. The EPS in the F150 is way better. On the F250 (I have had several) I have tried dual steering stabilizers as well as the Bilstein adjustable ($475 one). They don't help much at all Both of my campers are fifth wheels Does your F250 have the snow plow package? If it does it may be why it transfers dips and bumps to the steering wheel. I have the snow plow package and the only place that I notice unwanted transfers is when I go over a patch of rough road but I don't have tendonitis so I may not notice it as much. There was a person on here who switched his front snow plow package springs out for lighter ones with success. I hope that you're able to find something that will work for you.

I would call it a semi closed block similar to the 6.2, but with small slots between the cylinders for coolant flow. Link Thanks for the video. I would consider that more of a semi-closed deck too. Most semi-closed only have support front to bottom and right to left. The 7.3L block seems to have more than that. Either way, it definitely has more structural cylinder support than the 6.2L which will go a long way in longevity and how much power it can handle. I would not be surprised if ford does not make a blown version of this engine for smaller vehicles. The block and other internals seem well equipped to handle it. The 6.2 is known to be a good engine so if the 7.3 will outlast it then it should be a super engine. I'm anxious to see actual tests and see what it can do.

I'm sure that Ford built this engine with reliability in mind because it's going in Super Duty trucks that are built for work. I'm sure they could have got more power out of this engine but at what cost. Would reliabilty be compromised? Would fuel economy be compromised? Just by looking at the specs it should be a joy to tow with unless you are pulling a very heavy load. I like my 6.2 but I think the 7.3 is going to knock the socks off of it. The low rpm torque paired with a 10 speed should be a winner.

I couldn't agree more... just because they have a platform to speak, they think they are experts... everyone one of them.... I agree also. “... So there’s almost no reason to have a gas car unless you’re doing long-haul duty.” There is a reason. I want a gasoline powered vehicle and don't want an electric vehicle. According to some of the experts New York city was supposed to have been underwater several years ago.

If I'm recalling correctly I think one of the earlier viedos on this engine said that the fuel mileage would be better than the 6.2. I'm sure there will be some teething problems with this engine but I don't expect them to be many or very serious. I loved that torque chart.
