RE: Do you use glass plates ?

Not us. There's more than enough dinnerware to wash when we're home. When we're off in the RV we're on vacation and vacation means as much of a break from everyday routine as possible. Virtually everything dinnerware-wise we use in the RV is disposable and recyclable.

RE: RV "Coffee Table" Books

Thanks all for the recommendations! Make your own. We haven’t done this in a while, but we have used our own trip photos to create bound, hardback photo books that turned out very nice. We used kodakgallery.com, which has since been replaced by Shutterfly. It’s very easy to use, we aren’t even photo hobbyists ourselves. We just use our smartphone cameras, and typically come home with hundreds of photos from a short trip. There’s always a few dozen that are worthy of printing. The best part is, they’re YOUR photos! About the stuff that you did! When your memory starts to go, you’ll pick up those books and say “Who are these people, why did we buy this book?” :):) Neat idea! Will have to get the DiL to get us computer neaderthals started so we can just plug in the pics.

RV "Coffee Table" Books

Coffee table not quite right term but can't think of a better off the cuff. Looking for RV & camping books, not guides or how-to, but books that you can pick up & put down, start & stop reading on any page. Got what I could find at Amazon: Camper & RV Humor, Trailerama, Peculiar Place of the RV in American Culture. What else is available? Doesn't need to be new purchase, I've no problem buying good comdition used books.

Shore Power Question -- (15A+30A=45A)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61HgQHXYulL._AC_SL1200_.jpg height=432 width=243 How well does a dual-pigtail like this Camco item work for 15A plus 30A giving you a nominal 45A when they don't have 50A? Reviews at amazon etc are pretty good.

RE: What does having an appointment mean?

Mildly and pleasantly surprised at the truthfulness when we brought the OKIEbago in for a safety recall, were told outright the "appointment" was nothing more than the day they'd have an open parking space in the to-do lot and that they'd get to work as soon as they could but they had no idea when they'd be able to start the work.

The orange version is the breakfast drink of the astronauts! https://www.kroger.com/product/images/xlarge/front/0004300003227 height=300 width=300 Horrible stuff, by the way.

RE: Slide out awnings yay or nay?

Overall another vote FOR the awnings. The TT w/slides didn't have them; came with the 5er and they came with the coach. Haven't yet been in situation where leaves or stuff gets blown in sideways on top of the slides. Appreciate having one less campground departure step to take.

RE: Question -- "It's Full" Gifts for RVers

Thanks, NOW I get it. Haven't seen any of those Lampoon movies. "Tasteless" is the word I was looking for but posted anyway. You younger folk, this is what you're coming to. It's inevitable.

Question -- "It's Full" Gifts for RVers

What's with it on all the "S**tter's Full" stuff I see at Amazon, Ebay, etc? Someone please explain. I don't get it. What kind of gift is that for an RVer? In the first place it doesn't make a bit of sense to me (or to any of the other RVers I've asked about it). Is it some kind of private insider joke? I'm no prude and I get and appreciate well-turned double-entendres but I also don't get anyone even offering anything that's just plain crude and senseless.

RE: How to clean the toilet flap thing...

I don't remember what it is DW got but it's marvelous for removing mildew, mold and hard water deposits. It's in a purple trigger-pump spray bottle that sprays out foam. I assume she got it at Walmart, that's where she gets 99.9% of everything.

RE: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community?

Agree that fewer and fewer fellow campers seem to want or be able to initiate sociable contact. But I've found that once you say hello and start up a conversation very few people turn out to be unsociable. That 'Hello' (with the ubiquitous weather comments) generally leads to showing off photos of the Gkids, comparing the day trips and the aches and pains of advancing age, and often 'Hey, we just got a bundle of firewood, pull up a chair and have a beer.' I think part of it is campers who are like us, don't go camping to hang out at the campground. The RV and campgrounds are our base camp, tools we use to do what we want: riding the ATVs; fishing; visiting aquariums, zoos, museums and other area attractions. Campground-initiated activities (potlucks, pool parties, movies, dances) rarely have any interest for us. And anyway we're usually off someplace else doing whatever it is we want to do that day.

RE: Oxygenics Fury RV Handheld Shower

I do not dry camp and usually only two of us. I have the Oxygenic and due to the flow restrictions, I drilled it out to get more water. Nurse daughter turned us on to this. DW greatly dislikes dry camping and on the occasional times we're forced into it we'll 'shower' with packaged (forget brand) hospital single use 'washcloths' from the local medical supply store. x2 on the restrictor. Thankfully the WaterPik we have had a pop-out metal disk restrictor, real easy to remove. Also had a hose easily twice the length of what came in the RV.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Was thinking about this thread just the other day and realizing I hadn't seen anything new. I haven't done it yet, but I'm considering a motion-activated light near the door for when we forget to leave our porch light on. It may have to be one that we remove when we are on the road. Does anyone have a good idea for this? We use one of those $19.95 "as-seen-on-TV" solar motion activated lights hung on a 3M command hook at easy arm height next to the door. Only takes a second to put it on or off when we park/depart.

RE: Quartzsite show

One of these days. Quartzsite's been on the list for a couple decades now but every year something's come up to postpone our RVmecca trip another year. Here's hoping for 2021.

RE: utah activities for seniors

Plenty of places rent side-by-sides. Those things go anywhere and are loads of fun. Utah is a favorite place for us to take our RZR. THIS! Every couple years we spend a week riding our ATVs out of Richfield or Maryvale. The scenery is fantastic. The roads/trails are good, the riding is easy - at least our kind of riding, we just pokey along and enjoy the scenery. Try as hard we can we haven't been able to get ourselves lost yet.

RE: What is a good camp stove to buy now days?

Two. We carry a no-name all-stainless propane grill we got at Sam's maybe 20 years ago, use that most of the time. Also carry a 2-burner Coleman HyperFlame we use when whatever's cooking on the grill takes up most of the space. Both will run on the little quart bottles or can be hosed to a larger bottle or the coach tank low side. Both have legs that can be extended (or not). Hardly ever do any cooking inside, and what little we do is 90% warming leftovers in the microwave.

Need Help with Utility Trailer Decision

Need to get 10-12' utility trailer primarily to haul our SxS UTV behind the coach. On occasion to haul mower or small tractor for service (TV for that will be the pickup). Am I better off getting the deck made with 2x6 treated wood or with 1/4" steel diamond plate? And why? Everything else is the same except for total weight and cost, and they're so close wood vs steel it's negligible and irrelevant.
