RE: Any issues having slides on both sides?

...Just like anything else, IF you wanna find an issue with something, you probably will.... If you wanna adapt to something, you probably will . . ...And that right there sums up probably 90% of the discussions/debates that come up on here. :) No it doesn't. Yes it does. No it doesn't. Yes it does. Yep.

RE: Pulled to the left when being passed by Big Rigs

An Airstream will prevent that. Do they make a toy hauler for the OP?

RE: Pulled to the left when being passed by Big Rigs

"But every time I'm passed by a big rig or a big box truck I get sucked over." Does anyone not get sucked over when a big rig passes? Me. Not even an inch. But maybe my 45’ fifth wheel qualifies me as a big rig too.

RE: Hedging Gas Prices

Hoarding as a hedge against inflation is a good way to trigger hyperinflation.

RE: My post reads "Topic Closed."

Hi Don and/or Ellen, I closed the thread after it got nasty and political. It's hard to tell now because I deleted the inappropriate posts, but there weren't any more helpful responses coming in besides the political ones. Feel free and send me a Private Message if you have further questions.

RE: Any issues having slides on both sides?

Sitting in my rig right now with all three slides deployed. We love all the extra room. We don’t camp at Walmart, but we’d figure something out if we did. Never once have the slides been an issue.

RE: Our most used adapters when towing with an Electric Vehicle.

Thanks for the info on the adapters, Riesender.

RE: RV registration in SD

Check the AZ DMV website for their requirements. A lot of states don't like local residents registering their vehicles out of state for pretty obvious reasons (revenue). Your AZ drivers license combined with SD plates might get you in hot water if you get pulled over in AZ.

Thanks for the helpful info, Reisender. Sorry that the EV threads so often go off the tracks.

RE: Camper Jack

I can't remember the last time I had to jack up the fiver to change a flat. As bad as our roads are out west, I can usually find a decent pothole to straddle and change the flat after loosening the lugs. If it's in camp where the ground is soft, I just dig a hole in front of the bad wheel. If I can't dig a hole or find a pothole, then I can always put down leveling blocks under my jack pads and use the six-point jacks to raise the whole thing up.

RE: Do you lock or unlock the hitch while pulling your TT?

Latch = safe. Lock = secure. Except... The locks aren't as secure as we think. I'll never forget the time I arrived at camp and my key was back at home. At first I thought I'd have to stay hitched, but the site wasn't level and I really needed to disconnect. One whack in the right spot with a hammer and my lock fell off into two pieces. It was never secure. It was safe, but not secure against theft. For the drive home, I used a couple of zip ties to keep the latch locked, but the trailer wasn't secured against roadside bantitos who might have wanted to hijack it from us.

RE: Waste water totes for fresh water

I'm not a picky person and I believe in the five second rule. I assume that anything on the list of stuff that's going to kill me has probably happened and is already fermenting in my body somehow, waiting to spring into action when I least expect it. But drinking from the stinky tote (even if it's never been stunk up yet) is definitely on my personal No-Fly List, especially when there are better ways to do it. The bladder in the bed of the truck with a portable pump sounds like a winner to me. Even if you aren't afraid of the cooties or tumor pills inside the tote, think about the weight. If you're already struggling with your 5 gallon jugs, then a tote is going to be even worse even if it has wheels on one end. I guess one more option though would be to just buy more of the jugs and don't fill them to the point where you can't carry them. Four jugs with 2.5 gallons would be more manageable than two jugs with 5 gallons. Maybe that's easier said than done though, because I typically fill my 5 gal fuel jugs with 5.5-6 gallons because that's what my caveman brain tells me to do (bring as much as will fit into the container). Anything but the tote though for me. And my queen would nix that plan even faster than I would.

RE: Rear Fiberglass Cap Damage

Grind out the cracks, fill with kitty hair. OK, I'll bite. What's kitty hair? (I hope I don't regret asking. :B)

RE: Rear Fiberglass Cap Damage

If you have collision on your moho, report it to your carrier asap. Have them take a look and write you an estimate. It’s a start.

RE: Hooking up to water/sewer

Same here with the gray. It really depends on how long I'm staying at that spot. If I'm just there for a few nights, then I leave it shut out of laziness. And somebody else mentioned shutting off the fresh water valve at the spigot when leaving for the day. I do that too if we're going to be gone for a long time. It feels superstitious, especially since I never do that with the pump when we're boondocking. So many of our rituals feel like the actions of superstitious natives, especially throwing chemical tabs down the toilet like virgins into a volcano. I quit that one years ago.

RE: Hooking up to water/sewer

1. I use pressurized city water because it’s quiet. We mostly boondock and use our pump, so the quiet water is a treat. 2. Close your valves until you’re ready to dump.

RE: Attn Dedmiston

But there is one that IMHO is too quick on the draw and will NOT explain why there was discipline as the others will happily give reason. I do recall that at onetime this Mod that you took to task explained to you in very plain articulate and eloquent language why and how you went beyond what is acceptable. I did agree with him at that time as I do now.IMHO I think that Forum Rule #5 was was very close to being broken. Let's drop this topic, please.

RE: Just checking in

I just drove from central Florida to So Cal. I could have taken I-10 or I-40 and done it in 2,500 miles, but I took a bunch of detours to see the sights and tacked another 1,000 miles onto the trip. I would have liked it if the fuel price had been lower, but I still want to enjoy life and see things that aren't on the interstate. On the other hand, I drove up to Spangler yesterday just to see a little of the desert, shoot some targets, and get a shake at Randsburg. I put $100 in the tank before I left and my Low Fuel light went off when I got home. It's crazy to see a trip up there without the toy hauler still cost a hundred bucks.
