RE: Compensating for GM crowned bed

https://i.imgur.com/ySraEj8l.jpg So I cut my mud flaps back to 15" and added a 3/16" board in front of the thick portion of it to form a wedge of sorts. So I got the 7/16" thick at the back for 8" then its 1/4" thick out to the 15". Thanks for all the replies...

RE: Compensating for GM crowned bed

....Shows pic of a Canadian 2x4...... a Newfie Straight edge Nope, not a H depot airplane propeller...this one eyeballed carefully before using and was straight...my 4 foot level was 4 feet too short for this job.:B Thats funny! I couldn't use my 4 foot level either even on my short bed truck. I haven't seen a 2x4 that straight for 30 years! I got plan now, will post pics...

RE: Odd Smell/Odor

Our 2017 camper gassed off so bad it set the propane detector off in hot weather while sitting in driveway. Took over 2 years to dissipate to the point it quit going off in those conditions.

RE: Palomino 1240 /F250 8' bed

I tried the horse mat nice thick material. Weighs about 100 lbs. After wrestling that around a few times I bought a dee zee mat that Weighs about 30 lbs.

RE: Compensating for GM crowned bed

There is a center crown in the box around the axle area to allow water drainage front and rear, it is obvious when I ran a 4' level lengthwise in the box. I put two rubber semi mud flaps side by side in the back half under my rubber camper mat, problem solved. Didn't you trim some off the length of your mats?

Compensating for GM crowned bed

I didn't discover this anomaly until about a year in when I noticed denting occurring in the front of the bed and on the camper where it meets the end of the bed. A result from the rocking motion from the built in see saw. Also noticed the distance from the bed rails to the camper was not uniform from front to back. Gap was less at rear. https://i.imgur.com/XwSIGf4l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qHyma3ql.jpg So I made a wedge using 3 pieces of 3/16" wood sheets glued together. So its 9/16" on thick end and 3/16" at the thin end. Its 50" wide and 21" long. Then I slip that under the rear of my Dee Zee bed mat. https://i.imgur.com/BbjmFHKl.jpg As you can see the mat leaves rubber on the wedge but little on the thin end leading me to think its too thick at 9/16" or too long. So I wanna make another using 24" x 30" trucker mud flaps which will need trimmed. MY QUESTIONS.... About how much drop is there on a 2016 Chevy short bed from the crown to the end of the bed? Can I ignore putting anything on the other side of the crown?

Why keep soliciting...

About every 2 weeks we get an offer for roadside assistance or travel assistance or what ever. We currently have "Platinum complete roadside assistance" and "extended service plan" and a GS credit card. There is nothing else to buy or upgrade to. Why not check your database before soliciting folks who already have the service. Today it was travel assist again. For fun I'd like to accept the offer to see what would happen.

RE: Tennessee state parks

Been there. They pay people to put a paper tag on your number post that has your reservation dates so you just need to show up. No check in.

RE: Overnight

I stayed at the Starke walmart in Florida 2 years ago. One of the worst. Very noisy. There's nowhere to no get out of the traffic flow off to the side at. Lots of hopped up cars all nite long. It was good enough tho

RE: Do you let you kids drive your motorhome

That would be a hard no! Although I used to borrow my parents motorhome. Never messed it up. Messed up plenty of their other possessions!

RE: V6 Silverados

My Chevy has a 36 gallon gas tank. A 1500 longbox has a 34 gallon tank:h

RE: Trailer hitch pin

I put a zip tie on my clevis pin for piece of mind. At least it keeps clowns from pulling it off, it has to be cut first so creates a simple deterrent and should never jiggle off on its own. I'm a lock but practically every single thing that can be locked is. I have to travel with 2 ball mounts for the boat one on a stinger with a 2" drop for when the TC is loaded and one with a 6" drop when no camper. Well I had a locking hitch pin on the stinger freeze up. Which is ok since I shouldn't have to ever remove it, the ball ain't coming off either. I had same pin in other receiver at truck. Quit using it out of fear of it corroding shut. Yeah I don't want a locking pin stuck on the truck!

RE: TC Fitted Cover

https://i.imgur.com/t3GBetil.jpg I used the PolyPro also. It's new so who knows about lasting but if they will warranty a new one who cares. I like that it was very light easy to carry up on roof and deploy. We have an 8.5 ft camper for which we ordered the 8-10 ft model. I wish it was 6 inches longer it wood have fit the length perfectly. It won't fit a 9ft or 10ft camper so order big. Also had to take some slack out of the front overhang (note yellow tarp button) and tuck front under camper with boards. I like it though...

RE: Removing Dicor from screw holes...

You can shove a screwdriver right thru it and unscrew. Easier to clean off then. That stuff stays soft for years.
