RE: Cairo IL bridges

Very narrow. I had to scuff the curb with the right tires to clear a semi coming the other way. I would just go around the next time.

RE: Magnum Inverter/Converter Question

So yesterday the batteries went down to 10.5 volts. Did a reset and it came back up to bulk mode with 130 amp on remote for batteries. It apparently charged them. This morning it is back in "batt save" mode and currently at 12.7 volts and showing 0 for current draw on remote. I would think there should be some draw as we are using 12v lights etc. Yes I am connected to AC and a 50 amp service with both legs operating properly. I have seen my Magnum 2812 hit 130 amps charging whenever the batteries are low. Normal operation.

RE: (update bought Hankook tires)

The first Carlisle tires I had were on a boat trailer 20 years ago. It was stored inside and in about 2 years the rubber separated while in storage. Fast forward another 10 years when Carlisle came out with their new tires, (RH then HD), I had to get another set of tires for my car hauler and the only ones that were available at the time were the new Carlisle RH. The dealer swore that Carlisle had made major changes and he would personally guarantee the tires. I ran those tires for 6 years and didn't had any issues then installed a set of the HD's and they are still on the trailer with no issues. All of my local friends have also switched and none of use have experienced the separation issuers we were all having with the other brands of trailer tires.

RE: I hate dinettes

We love our dinette. Wouldn't have an RV without. I hate the idea of having loose chairs. Our dinette is way more comfortable than a stiff chair.

RE: Triple digit heat! Generator won't run

I suspect that the problem was triple digit heat. I went out this morning and the generator started right up. I turned on the a/c and let everything run for a while, with no problems. Thanks to everyone for your advice, which I did pay heed to and tried. I doubt it was the heat. The generators in all my Motorhomes for the last 15 years run more when the temp is over 90 than below. When traveling I usually start the generator when the outside temp is above 90 and leave it running with the A/C on until we arrive at our destination. I have run the generators in 115+ heat many times and never had any issues.

RE: FL Keys in June

In 2017 we went to Key west for 3 days the first week of June. This was our first time. We thought it was nice at 90. But then that was cooler than it was at home in AZ...but humid.

RE: Ford V-10 plug problems

I have a friend who drove his for some distance and ended up melting all the wiring and air intake system on top of the engine.

RE: Looking at Greenball Tow-master ASC tires

I ran Greenball Tow-master 15" tires for about 5 years (the only ones I could get locally at the time). I averaged about 18 months before one of the set would start separating. Since I bough the "certificates" I got them all replaced each time for almost free but I got tired the continuous fear of a blowout. When the new Carlisle Radial Trail RH tires came out in 2009 I gave them a try. Never had one issue since. Replace them after 7 years and got another set which I haven't had any issues with either.

RE: Magnum error code

Look in your owners guide: "High Volts AC appears on the LCD. The FAULT (red) LED is on. The PWR (green), CHG (green), and INV (green) LEDs are off. High Volts AC – This fault causes the charger to be disabled because a very high AC voltage (>150 VAC) has been detected on the AC input. Remedy: Remove all AC power from the inverter’s AC input for at least 15 minutes to automatically restart this fault. Ensure only 120VAC power is connected to each of the inverter’s AC inputs."

RE: No shore power

Question from an electrical novice. If the house batteries are dead or defective, do they prevent the shore power from working? We have a 50A circuit on our house and the breaker seems fine. Plugged in power cord and got nothing. That has never happened before. Thanks for your help. Without a lot more information we are all guessing. So I will too... The inverter/charger should have a input circuit breaker that may have been tripped. This will cause no AC power (on all inverter powered outlets) and no battery charging. And it will do the same thing with the generator.

RE: New Battery boiling

Just an FYI, I had one of my two 12v chassis batteries (in parallel) start boiling without anything changing since Motorhome was new (6 years). One of the old batteries got an internal short and didn't stop boiling until I disconnected the other battery from it. The bad battery was smoking and really hot. I feel very lucky I caught the issue before something really bad happened.
