RE: Large dog

I am between dogs right now, but I have traveled with Akitas who ranged from 115 to 136#. Akitas are included on some cg ban lists. I ignored the ban list and planned on claiming mine was a mutt- a cross of a husky and who knows. Most people don't have a clue about Akitas and I was never questioned. That said, I am someone who demands that my animals are well trained/behaved and obey me at all times. All my Akitas have also been the most loving of all humans. They all believed that people existed only to love on them. That's a long way of saying my dogs are always more welcomed than someone else's yappy ankle biter. (Akitas rarely bark- some don't at all). So yes, its possible. BUT, you are restricting yourself with any dog, regardless of size. DO NOT leave your animals unattended in a rv. They will make noise no matter how much you think that they wont. And if youre camped next to me, I WILL report your failings as a pet owner. That usually means shape up or get out of the cg. The biggest drawback for us was not being able to do things together like see a movie, spend the day somewhere that dogs aren't allowed, and don't ask about summers when they have to be in AC. That means staying with them either in the truck or in the rv. I would suggest that you travel without a dog for a while but act like you have one. See if the inconvenience is worth it to you. Because that's what it comes down to- your personal preferences. And if you don't both want a dog, DONT get one. My cousin raised Akita's. They are some of the best well behaved and relaxed dogs there are. They are very laid back. We traveled with a Chow/Golden retriever mix, 120lbs! He was very well behaved and didn't bark. Traveling with him was easy. He would just lay in the back seat or watch out the window, he really loved traveling! When we stoped for gas he knew it was time to get out and go. I love traveling with animals, but it has to be the right animal.

RE: Electric Mustang

This would’ve been better off as an Explorer with the Mach E name. This is not and never will be a Mustang. Ford tried to kill the Mustang back in the 90’s and we said no. We were fine for 25+ years! Now they are trying again. Trying to pass off an all electric crossover as a Mustang to the Hipster crowd. This is going to be deadly to the Mustang. Don’t do it Ford! You’ll be sorry. I think they still have a gas version too don’t they? Not sure. Yes they have a gas Mustang. However this crossover is not and never will be a Mustang!

RE: Tow Package Installation

Terry, I think they are talking about towing it behind a MH.

RE: Large dog

I agree that some campgrounds may not want them because they are considered dangerous. I'll argue that, because my small 20lb dog is not a good people/kid dog. Our male shepherd we had was a people kid dog. I would never hesitate to leave him alone with kids. We now have another shepherd and she is good with kids and people also. With that said they are easy to travel with. The only time you have to worry about them damaging anything is when they are puppies. After that they are great dogs that are very easy to travel with. You will have to stop for bathroom breaks before the dog. I would highly recommend them, and skip the campgrounds that don't want your money! The amount of campgrounds with breed restrictions is low compared to the new that are pet friendly.

RE: Resivlor for jacks

The reservoir under the hood is more than likely for the coolant. My buddy has a 17 35K and his is in the RR behind the wheel.

RE: TV engine oil

I just leave each one upside down in the oil filler for a minute. Not much left after that. But it does show how much is wasted if you just dump he oil in and toss the bottle.

RE: Loud Water Pump

I like a potable pump that I can hear. That way you know if a tap is dripping and can deal with it before you potable supply gets pumped overboard. Coming the marine trades and such, this was a constant worry. More than once, sitting in the main cabin someone would hear the potable pump rattle and jump up to find the errant tap. Matt That is another reason It doesn't bother me. Nice to know that if you hear it running there is an issue.

RE: What is the purpose of low point drains?

When I had my trailer I didn’t even drain the lines. I ran water through the system until it all came out pink. Never had an issue. If I’m not feeling lazy then I’ll pull the low points and drain, otherwise I just run the pink through it. If your low point drains are valves above the floor line you can get away with this. If they are caps below the trailer, do yourself a favor and drain them. If you don't there is a good chance you will have nothing but water in the lines hanging down. No antifreeze. When those caps freeze and crack you will have a problem next year. I agree with you. The very first year I didn't even think of it. When I thought about it I went to the storage yard and seen pink in the lines at the caps so I left it. It was fine all winter. After that I would crack the drain open and let it trickle till it came out pink. I either just got lucky that first year or ere was some leftover pink stuff from when it was new.

RE: New RV TV show 11/17/19

Watched it last night with the DW. It was OK. Didn’t care for the driving segment. He wasn’t having her watch the swing on the rear. And the push pull of the hands was crazy. Made it much harder to drive that way. I’ll Give it a few more shows before I pass any real judgement.

RE: New RV TV show 11/17/19

All set to record. I have never heard of it until now. With that, I do miss Stu. Hopefully this new show will be good and not the typical "reality" show Discovery and History channel like to make?

RE: Loud Water Pump

On my TT it was also bolted to the floor, but it was mounted to a flexible rubber foot. Mine was loud also. I never really bothered with it because we only dry camped about 3 times in 13 years. What I did notice was although the pump was mounted on a flexible mount the water lines were rigid mounted. If I were to quiet it down I would've cut the lines back and looped flexible lines so it didn't transfer vibrations. However i fixed that by buying a class A with the pump mounted down in the storage compartment. Now I can barely hear it, That was my $65k fix!

RE: Time to hang up the keys...(consignment ?)

Camping world does not have your best interest at hand. I'm still waiting for a call back on a bunk house MH we were looking for. They told me it was impossible to find one at the price we were looking at. 2 weeks later we fond one in Indiana at a small family owned dealer for a couple thousand less than what we were looking for. Looks like new. I would look for a place close by that knows how to sell RV's.

RE: Wanna bring a golf cart and a Jeep towed

Just for fun I googled "Jeep Gladiator Dimensions" and here's what popped up: "By the numbers, here's how the Gladiator's bed size measures: The bed floor is 60.3 inches long with the gate closed, the bed width at the tailgate is 56.8 inches, and the gate opening itself is 50 inches wide while the floor between the wheel humps is 44.8 inches wide." Yep, not something else would want to put a golf cart into. Not too mention that the rear axle is located very far forward. So the golf cart will make it very heavy on the rear axle. Not to mention probably being over the less than 1k lb CCC. I work at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealer and see them quite often. Not much you can do with the bed other than haul some flowers.
