RE: Winter Camping - Golf Cart

IDE be more concerned about the 12 seasons!!!! That sounds pretty bad. Otherwise just keep them charged and check the water before it gets below freezing. Biggest things is don’t cook the batteries, that will boil the water out and shorten their life.

RE: Just a thought on truck campers place here

Never realized there wasn’t a TC forum. The closest would be the class C forum.

RE: Campsite Sanitation - Beware

When you were born you were given this great thing called an immune system. If you don’t let it do it’s thing it will not work properly when the time comes! As far as slobs, well there is nothing we can do about that after the fact! Just watch what you are doing if you are not sure!

RE: 1987 37' Winnebago Elandan for Sale >$45,000< ??

At best it's worth $10k! She was good on Different Strokes, but that doesn't make it worth anymore than a similar model. As it sits it's worth $7k

RE: Where in Western MI with 3 tweens/teens

Silver Lake sand dunes! Meads MI. Right on Lake MI. Perfect for your kids! Lots to see and do. https://i.ibb.co/1sNwfmg/26-F55-B27-782-D-495-E-BB3-A-36-C60478-C079.jpg width=600 https://i.ibb.co/JRk7xhw/CF0-A96-C8-4997-462-F-B1-D9-B60-DC5-E8-A37-C.jpg width=600 And if you don’t have 4WD then you can go to the other side of the state park and take the dune vehicles and they take you on dune excursions. Or you can rent a Jeep and drive it. Also part of the state park is designated for foot traffic only. So you can hike the dunes out to the lake and not worry about vehicles.

RE: Pickle on My Entry Door Grab Handle

If this is true, and it is a game, I've heard the proper response is to place sardines on the ugly tents of those nearby and sprinkle the juice around the tent!

RE: Proper electric fireplace install

I don’t remember seeing a sticker indicating to retorque the screws. I will double check when we go to fix it. The fire place is not part of the load shedding feature. The only things that are On the lord shed feature are the front and rear AC’s and the water heater, only 3 circuits. The fireplace is plugged into a regular outlet. And there was no load shedding going on for this weekend. With temps in the 30’s and 40’s at night!

Proper electric fireplace install

So my buddy asked me on Friday at the campground to look at his fireplace. It started to run and then turn off. It would run for a minute and then turn off for 2 minutes. The cycle would continue. He bought his MH new, a 2017 Fleetwood Bounder 35K, the fireplace is part of the floor plan, so it wasn’t installed after the fact. So I pull the unit out of its recessed opening and I notice the fresh air intake is on the back. I start to look around the cabinet and there is no fresh air intake to be found. He said he only started having a problem this year. So we set it on the floor in front of the opening with a container lid as a baffle so it didn’t suck in any hot air. It ran fine all weekend. So we are going to cut out the bottom of the cabinet at the floor and install a vent of some kind so it can pull in fresh air. It’s crazy that on a $150k MH they can’t even install a simple electric fireplace properly. The other problem he had was a heated up/melted wire in his circuit breaker box. We finally traced the wiring and it’s for the electric water heater! He has a load shedding/mgt system and they left the screw loose at the panel for the load shed. So now we need to move that over to the other open position so it has fresh contacts. The other one is melted. He got 1/2 a turn out of the screw! The quality control is terrible to non existent!

RE: Jeep towed discharged when towing. This is new.

I don’t believe you need the key on. I don’t think the column lock the wheel with the key off. Also do you have a batt. Charge wire running from the MH to the Jeep to keep the batt charged? Most vehicle need to have one to avoid this issue!

RE: MH accident in gas station!

Another example of why there should be mandatory training, testing and licensing to operate anything larger than a car or pickup, or to tow a trailer. A lot of folks can't negotiate a Walmart parking lot in a Kia Soul, and the next day jump in a class A and hit the highway towing it. Some people with CDL's can't drive either. So there goes that thinking! It's not about the size of the vehicle, it's about paying attention.

RE: MH accident in gas station!

Yes the Georgetown has frame extensions. The receiver is rated at 5000lbs. But this is lifting it from the bottom of the receiver. A bit different. But still not the ideal way to lift it, however with the damage that was done there wasn't much of a choice. At $150k the damage would have to be around $100k (70-75% of its value). Not sure if that was $100k in damage. I'm guessing at least $70k! And yes they were temp tags, they could've been coming from an older class A or are completely new. We will probably never know.

Stranger how this went from the posting of an accident to how people can sue someone for being in public! Let’s keep it on topic!

RE: MH accident in gas station!

Sorry that the RV'er had an accident. BUT if the tow truck driver I called took videos and put it on the internet? Well...I'd be making a phone call about it to them and my attorney. I don’t know about that! The guy was in public! It’s fair game at that point!

MH accident in gas station!

I don’t think this has been posted before, so I’m posting it now. How do you do this much damage in a gas station? MH hung up on gas island!!!!

RE: rolled MH onto the side - and the towed

Diminished value only comes into play if it was totaled and then repaired or not totaled but repaired improperly! As far as Carfax goes.....well don’t get me started!

RE: Gap year, family of 6, TV and TT recommendations

Have you given thought to a Class A gasser. You would all have more room. and you could tow your Honda. Might be cost effective. You're going to butt up against cargo carrying capacity with a lot of gas motorhomes once you factor in people and fulltiming weight. My 2012 has a 4K lb CCC. More than enough for me, it leaves me with 2k lbs left over.

RE: Gap year, family of 6, TV and TT recommendations

Personally, I wouldn't do that trip with any gasser. We towed a 10,500 lb 5th wheel to California and back with a 2011 GMC 2500 6.0L and traded it for a diesel a year later. As previously mentioned, i hated towing over the mountains with that gasser. A gasser wouldn't be an issue if It's properly configured. I've been all over the east and west mountains with my V-10 and 9300lb TT and never had an issue. Didn't even slow down in the mountains.
