RE: Niagara Falls scow moved

I agree. I didn't even know about it until we visited the falls 5 years ago. It was interesting to find out it's history. It will probably rust away and go over in pieces eventually. When that happens you will not even see it at the bottom of the falls.

RE: MIA - Mexico

Especially after reading about the couple that was murdered on Padre Island. This post does not belong here! Hijack alert!!! This is about a popular member and should stay on subject! Yes, and the username "mexicowanderer" makes it very much relevant to the title and original post on this. So it should stay!

RE: Mysteries of RV design

Another generator start switch by the door would be helpful for me. And thankfully my kids are older so the TV hidden 40% by the slideout when in would be an issue. Also, I don't think the people that designed my dash board have ever driven a car. All my switches are almost at floor level. The radio is near impassible to reach while driving. And you have to move your head to far to look at the rear view monitor. I'm taking care of all that this winter. My winter project is to make a new center stack and floor console. Stationary we love the coach!

RE: Blow out water lines question

This is why I don't blow out the lines. Too many questions on if you got it all out! Pull the low point drains and run the RV antifreeze through it.

RE: MIA - Mexico

Especially after reading about the couple that was murdered on Padre Island. My wife just read about them! Very bad, but with how close Padre Island is to Mexico we can only imagine what happened to them.

RE: Mysteries of RV design

On my '04 Itasca, the range hood & light are built in to the underside of the microwave...and they are 120VAC. So unless I have hookups or use the generator, I have no light/fan over my LPG stove! :S Huuuuh ... those are 12V on my 2005 Itasca ... just like the rest of the lights and fans in it!! The separate range hood is 12V. The ones built into the microwave are 120V.

RE: Electric side entry step problem

Yes, pull the power before working on the steps. It may be low voltage or the magnetic switch mat be out of adjustment.

RE: Gap year, family of 6, TV and TT recommendations

You would be better off buying a class C and towing your minivan on a dolly. No way in the world you should try and fit 6 people in a crew cab pickup for more than an hour. I have probably a dozen or more friends who fulltime with families of 6 (one has been on the road for 6+ years). I'll let them know they chose wrong. That would be a really good idea. Let them know they may not be safe on the road!

RE: Gap year, family of 6, TV and TT recommendations

You would be better off buying a class C and towing your minivan on a dolly. No way in the world you should try and fit 6 people in a crew cab pickup for more than an hour. Most class C's don't have the CCC for a family. Some only have 900lbs! Hardly enough for a couple let alone a family of 6. That's not always true. Yes, many luxury versions are really tailored for couples. But some larger family floor-plans have nearly 2000 pounds of CCC on the E450 chassis. This certainly wouldn't leave a lot of headroom for packing heavy, but with 7500 pounds of towing capacity, some of the cargo can go in the toad! Just one example with enough seatbelts and sleeping space, and over 1900 pounds CCC: https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/ImageHandler.ashx?ImageID=99420 width=600 That kind of payload is a rarity. Most I have seen had a hair over 1k lbs. I've even seen an F53 class A chassis with bunks with only 1200lbs! My TT had 4100lb of payload. Of that I used 2200. That was in a TT. Now put that in a MH and add in the people and you are at 3k lbs easy.

RE: Frameless windows question

I also worried about "no breeze" because of the narrow opening abilitty of them but like the salesman said, "turn the Fantastic Fan on low and you have all the breeze you need" Darned if he wasn't right. Tinbender I agree that I rarely have my windows open. But it would be nice to have that option. I do not have frame.ess windows.

RE: Is it a fiver or class a or c?

I'm ducking just look in at it! Can't imagine how it is driving it and coming up to a bridge!!! That's gotta be well over the federal 13.6-14ft height limit! Not to mention top heavy as hell.

RE: Exercising generator and A/C after winterizing question?

Just change the oil and run a fuel stabilizer through it. No need to run it before or during storage. Short run times are worse than sitting without running. Then in the spring start it up and put a load on it. No need to make it harder than it should be.

RE: Frameless windows question

Since there are no mounting hardware showing how is the glass attached to the opening hardware. I believe they are bonded. If so over time the adhesive may fail! It’s too early to tell that though. They do look good though. But how are they thermo pane with that type of mounting system?

RE: Doom for the RV industry???

Well its only at least 30 years late. Hopefully they will straighten up. I`ve said it for years, Ill gladly pay a bit more for better quality! You'll pay more alright. But not for quality. It'll be for any potential litigation.Very true, you'll just pay a lot more for the lawyer fees. Illinois has a history of making things cheaper for the consumer, NOT. Look at fuel and tag fee's that have increased. Maybe, maybe not. I don't think any manuf would want to go through all that. If they don't do something about the quality they will have more people doing the same!

RE: What were they thinking?

Its like the scammers just stopped trying! I`m still checking out all the beautiful 5 year old DP`s going for $30k! I want to look at them but they are all stored away from the owner, it makes it had to look.
