RE: 2019–20 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC POSTINGS

I would like to say thanks for all of the information that has been shared, it is appreciated. My wife works for Orlando Health and they are receiving approximately 5000 doses with the first scheduled team member day this Friday and she has a 7:45AM. It’s at a different location so we will be going together on her day off then getting a nice breakfast. She was a little reluctant which is understandable and I pushed for her to get it. On a goofy side, she said if she grows a tail or something she’s going to mad at me. Just a little of our humor.
I will report back on how it goes with any reactions and obviously this is the Pfizer approved vaccine.

When I lost my credit card I didn’t bother to report it... the crook was only using it about 1/2 what my wife did!
Wow! Funny stuff right there.
That is really funny! :B

RE: New Sailor in the Family

That is awesome, congratulations!
Our DD23 is graduating with a major in finance and a minor in marketing this month and will be a virtual ceremony. We have a nice party planned here with some of the elders coming first and leaving then her friends and coworkers so it should be fun and it will be a mask required get-together.

2020 Strikes Again

Opened a SBA envelope addressed to my corporation today finding a loan statement with a deferred loan payment coupon due 9/10/21 and called to find out what was going on. Someone using my name, my business name and personal SS number applied for a large sum of money that was funded and is showing on my credit report. The SBA agent emailed a check list of chores I have now including filing a report with the sheriff’s office and informing all of the credit reporting companies.
What a pain in the rear! I’m glad we’re not in the market for a mortgage at the moment because I’m sure that wouldn’t go through. After getting through this I guess I’ll look into a LifeLock service. I did receive a change on my report notice from Credit Karma a few days ago never opening it and sure enough this loan was the reason.

RE: Very pleased with my Chevy PU.

Yes Kenny, it needed tires when I bought it and have been searching for take offs since and took months to find these, the tires alone on the stock wheels would have cost more and was about to do that. The Toyos are like new and was a little concerned with the aggressive tread liking a smooth & quiet highway ride and these are way smoother than what was on it so I’m very pleased. You and I go back a long time and this is probably the best buy on a vehicle I've made, and when you actually like it too it does feel good.
That look really nice.
This might be the year that I look for some factory take off aluminum wheels for my truck.
Its been a while hasn't it. :)
Nice to be back.
I actually like driving my PU more than my Lincoln Town Car. :B
Thanks know what you mean, I’m enjoying this thing a lot too.
I have seen some good deals on 8 lug Silverado take offs here I thought about forwarding but the shipping would be a killer I’m sure. And like I mentioned it did take months of searching occasionally to find these.

RE: The strange ramifications of COVID shutdowns

There have been many ramifications from Covid including starting a new business heavily based on Florida’s tourism closing it 2 weeks before turning the insurance and W2 payroll on.
A current ramification is one of the lady’s my wife works with signed with us to build her kitchen and had to break the news to them this week the cabinet manufacturer in Indiana is having problems with Covid at their plant and all I have is basically a guess on a late December delivery date. Wonderful people near retirement with a huge family and they won’t have their dream kitchen for Xmas. At least everyone in our circle is still healthy and that’s good enough for me.

I still think we need a like button.
x2. Probably won't happen since Zuckerberg was still in high school when this forum was created, and it still uses the same architecture! ;)
How about a :C when we like something? A thumbs up would be cool but couldn't find one of those. I like this simple format myself... :)

RE: Very pleased with my Chevy PU.

Hi Kenny! :B Lol
This truck has the stock WT wheels with 255/70/17 tires and one mismatch, plus serious dry rotting. Found these takeoffs today, 2016 8" Z71 wheels with 85% tread Toyo 285/65/18 Open Country AT2’s and made what I feel is a fair deal and taking it in tomorrow (880.00 installed including swapping my existing sensors) . It will be tight in the front but shouldn’t touch and should look pretty good, plus they will handle well on the beach. I’ll share pictures once on the truck.
These need to be changed.

RE: Very pleased with my Chevy PU.

Very nice Kenny! This is my 2014 1500 WT with a 4.3 V6 I got a few months ago and like it a lot, it’s in good shape with only 63k miles when I got it so a lot of life left in it. Took this picture a couple weeks ago after a landfill and scrap yard trip and the combo handles well on the road. Obviously the Z71 pinstriping isn’t original and was done by the dealer because it sat on their lot for so long from what I was told. Compared to my old 1 ton Ford 6.0 diesel and 1 ton dually Chevy 6.0 gas dump truck this thing is like driving a sportscar. A cheap improvement from Amazon for around $30 is a backup camera and works well getting hooked up the first time.

Nice camera. I like it.
short YouTube video of TV
The only thing I've added to mine is an in-dash TV and a hi-end stereo.
https://i.postimg.cc/MKhXX49k/IMG-3490.jpg
this has been my work truck for the last two weeks, a 2018 1500 with the 5.3L. It really needs to be a little bit peppier.
I like that and the song is a favorite too.
A nice thing about the camera is the USB port inside the console is on the keyed switch so no worries about turning it on or off and stores nicely inside the console when not sitting in the cupholder. For the cost and simple install definitely useful.

RE: Is anyone doing anything fun lately?

Great replies everyone, it is nice to see folks taking the time to relax and enjoy things :). We stayed in Daytona Beach Shores again and it was a great time with mostly couples, everyone was relaxed and friendly. It was windy with Sally out there and high tide was hitting the seawall with periods of hard rain but still super nice and we live under an hour away.
Old Biscuit, I hear you on the bath conversion. It’s what I do and hope to finish a major build soon that touched every aspect removing the slab and repouring after the 1 plumbing rough, this has been a tough one. Share some pics if you want and I’ll do the same if you want to talk shop.
Great Jeep picture and the Skim bikes were funny! :C

Is anyone doing anything fun lately?

It’s business as usual here for us, meaning busy, and besides an unexpected 8am meeting for me tomorrow that won’t take long my wife and I are heading to the beach for two nights.. without any kids or their friends. :)
There's enough going in life for most right now and thought sharing some fun would be nice.

RE: Tool box / Access Toolbox Edition Tonneau cover

I had a Access Lorado cover on an 8’ bed for over 10 years and was very pleased with it, definitely a high quality product and going to order another for a new truck. Today I had one of their ADARAC racks delivered and owned one before and liked it a lot. If you find their Outlet link they are discounting old stock, no covers but found the exact ADARAC I had for $300 with free delivery compared to the new model with a few minor changes for over $500.

RE: Foolish Things We’ve Done as Kids

This is a good, boys will be boys thread. As a child we did all kind of things including drilling and filling the empty Co2 cartridges from our air guns with black powder and a firecracker fuse. Glad you didn’t ignite the war trophy your dad brought home because we might not be talking to you right now.
In my early 20’s I was in the Army NG and my friend and roommate was the captain of the armory, I can remember him bringing artillery simulators to a dove hunt spot we had and one was a dud. So, he walks right up to it and shot it with birdshot and it went off peppering his face with paper shrapnel and a lot of blood.
I was deer hunter at the time and he bought a nice used Remington 700 .308 with the scope already mounted and fired it for the first time at the same dove spot and didn’t understand what eye relief was and half mooned his eye again with blood pouring out. He was 5 years older than me and 6’9”, a big man but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

RE: Aftermarket Silverado motor mount recommendations?

Also, I’m new to using this shop and very pleased with them.
And the mechanic did confirm the new factory mount he installed is an updated version.

RE: Aftermarket Silverado motor mount recommendations?

Weird...
If you saw the motor "jump" when you did a little brake stand,it's broke. If you just saw it "flex" and no "clunk" then it's not broke.
That makes sense. I'm no expert by any means but it appeared to be flexing more than it should. The problem seems to be solved with the new mount installed. Not perfect but I'd rate 90% better, before it would dropout to the point it felt like it was going to stall but never actually did. It didn't throw any codes either. Before taking it in I did a thorough throttle body cleaning using Sea Foam and while it did blow out a good bit of smoke for a second under heavy load that didn't do anything to improve the idle.

RE: Aftermarket Silverado motor mount recommendations?

That is the question I would like to understand. The shop called at 9am and can tell they did a lot of reading on it finding the same service advisory mentioning shimming the mounts to solve the rough idle problem. They are trying and now agree the driver side mount is the problem.
I just need this truck back, about to order a dumpster and 14” gas walk behind concrete wet saw for a bathroom demo this weekend. We do some pretty large jobs and removing the slab inside a customer’s house getting to play in the sand below is actually kind of fun. :)
