RE: Here she is - our new to us 5th wheel

The awning over the door looks interesting . It appears to extend over the slide a bit. Can you post a picture of it extended? https://i.imgur.com/1GFZ2jzl.jpg

Here she is - our new to us 5th wheel

Sold our toy hauler so hopefully you’ll see more post from me over here. I was very active in TH section so looking forward to sharing our trips and exploring more of the U.S - this is our 3rd trailer, first 5th / travel trailer 2015 Grand Design 323BHS https://i.imgur.com/2UO7O9el.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5DwcIl5l.jpg

RE: Paddle board / kayak rack

How long is your TV BBC? I have seen T shaped racks that pin in the receiver. Add a arch at front of bed, and a idiot hitch. With toys over cab, could overhang front 2-3 feet without issue. If a kayak is in the center, it does not need clearance to turn, only for drive axle to drop in a dip. We have a 07 Dmax 6.5 bed - I do have a receiver up front

RE: Paddle board / kayak rack

Inflatables, not as good, but fun for tooling around. Yeah we sold Our inflatable sups - I like my carbon race boards

RE: Paddle board / kayak rack

I made a custom mount on the rear of my trailer that uses BOTH the ladder AND the 2" receiver mount for support.... We carry 2 of the 10'6" SUP's.. This was without the brace on the receiver hitch so I could fly my flags ! https://i.imgur.com/NOwm5B4l.jpg Nice ! I’ll have to custom make something for a 14ft board - but man it Going to be high Up

RE: Paddle board / kayak rack

Think shorter toys. I have a 10.5 foot kayak I strap down on the bed for travel. Of course I have to wipe it down and put down old towels under it. Your other options would be inflatable or there are a few versions out there that break down or fold down. Yeah inflatables are cool but we sold ours :( - I like my Carbon race boards too much

Paddle board / kayak rack

We have 12 foot and 14 foot kayaks and paddle boards, we used to own a toy hauler but no longer do. We are picking up a 5th wheel and I still want to bring my water toys. How the heck am I going to do this with this size equipment ?

RE: ***update*** Sold the toy hauler :(

Good luck as stated we've enjoyed your photos and post. God bless. Thanks! We will still be traveling and camping just with something bigger as our girls have grown up so much - we need the room basically for 4 adults now lol.

RE: ***update*** Sold the toy hauler :(

I will really miss your photos eDUBz, but I also understand that there is a time for change in everything we do. We hit that point with our two boys, ended up buying a boat after the ATVs, now a Jeep and now considering getting a SxS for my wife and I. Hope you will drop by from time to time! Thanks. I enjoyed sharing our journey, this page gave me tons of info and knowledge. Our daughter will be turning 17 so we are car shopping sorta, my other daughters 14 and wants to get another shot at dirt bike riding, we are keeping the rzr since we have riding access from the house. I’ll try and be more active on fifth wheel page, our first trip is Antelope Point CG in Page AZ to paddle the slot canyons in Lake Powell. I see you moved from Channel Islands To WA :)

RE: ***update*** Sold the toy hauler :(

Noooooooooooooo!!!!! :E I'm sure your family was tired of the hauler after living in it during construction. You guys sure got your money out of it though. You made some incredible memories in that trailer. What do you think you'll replace it with and how will you bring your toys? Negotiating on a 2015 37ft Grand Design Reflection 323BHS. Since we live where we can ride anytime we want right out of our garage the girls aren’t interested in taking them out. So basically for me I’ll be doing solo desert runs with my dirt bike. By the way, we sold the trailer for what we paid for it lol

RE: Will it be difficult to find a reliable 5er on a 20K budget

Just gotta be patient, open up your search area further out. I see your in Murrieta. We just negotiated and got a 5th wheel in our price range (30k) and everything we wanted in Temecula. We don’t live far (San Jacinto) which was nice. The market is hot and things are selling fast. This is what we did, we researched and narrowed down what we wanted and were looking for, so that way you are ready to pull the trigger. I was texting the owner back and fourth before our appointment to see it. There’s was a lot of people going to see it, so we decided to put a deposit on it through Venmo to secure it. He didn’t accept the offer but instead told us we sounded very serious compared to everyone else that were going to look at it and that’s been contacting him. He agreed to give us first look and scheduled us on a Thursday to view it. He has all the other potential buyers going out on Saturday since it Was in storage. At the end it all worked out great for the seller and us. Your 5th wheel is out there just gotta be ready when it comes up. Cheers!

RE: Zion to Grand Tetons trip (part 2 )

Love the pics! We love that area and go as often as we can. This may be the year to do it again due to Covid19 and the low crowds. Yeah I’d say now is the time to go back. I can’t wit to go back, I really enjoyed the Tetons.

Zion to Grand Tetons trip (part 2 )

We left Zion NP July 3rd for the Grand Tetons. This would be our longest drive of the trip (12 hours) I believe we got one of the last RV sites in Moran Wyoming at Fireside RV park since it was over the 4th of July - again luck was on our side since everything in Jackson was booked and a few other places we called. Fireside was recommended by another CG. https://i.imgur.com/Oe3xELkl.jpg This Campground has full and partial hooks, we got partial which was power and water. They did have free showers which was cool. https://i.imgur.com/aQvnbdNl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3gJkdgbl.jpg Fireside is about 15 minutes to the Moran Junction Entrance on the east side of the Tetons it’s also about 45mins to Jackson and i believe something like 55 miles to the South entrance to Yellowstone. This area is more relaxed and further away from the crowds which was nice. It’s surrounded by Horse ranches which made it pretty cool because the girls would pet some of the horses at the fence. Here’s a map of our route we planned out - Schwabacher Landing, Antelope Flats, Death Canyon Hike to Phelps lake and then took a cruise by Jenny lake over to string lake. https://i.imgur.com/BHOqaIOl.png Our first stop at Schwabacher to try and get a glimpse of the beavers and possibly some moose but we were a little late. Arriving around 9 when you should really be there at Sunrise. https://i.imgur.com/ukDxH99l.jpg Schwabacher has a nice easy trail that goes in to the woods about a mile https://i.imgur.com/U39vzcAl.jpg Our next stop was Antelope flats to see the Famous Moulton Barn https://i.imgur.com/JKkqYJQl.jpg Again not many people out as you can see we were the only ones there taking a pic at the barn https://i.imgur.com/d2O6gFGl.jpg Our next stop is Death canyon - As you enter the dirt road you have to drive about a mile in, it starts to look like it’s going to be tight to park but it opens up a bit and there’s plenty of room for a u turn at the end. :) https://i.imgur.com/MJRxSOEl.jpg The hike to this point which is the Phelps lake overlook is 1 mile - to get To the lake I believe was another 1.5 miles. We opted to hike to the lake. https://i.imgur.com/q5qNIxUl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BSKQNXdl.jpg It’s a beautiful calm lake and ice cold water - jump in for a Quick swim is what we have to do everytime we get to a body of water :) https://i.imgur.com/dj9AYpKl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UsBdVs5l.jpg On our way back https://i.imgur.com/8WlyRHtl.jpg Right after death canyon we drove around it hopes of seeing some moose or a grizzly bear. We ended up seeing a young grizzly the park rangers were trying to capture. They said he became to used to people and would just come right up to anyone . https://i.imgur.com/JLOhAyJl.jpg Pic of Jenny lake - we skipped this area as it was the most popular place in the Tetons. Everyone was taking the boat across and hiking to inspiration point. https://i.imgur.com/44M2UhTl.jpg We Also ended up skipping string lake as it was packed as well. By this time the girls were exhausted from the drive up here the day before and I think they were over hiking after Zion....haha! But Nicole loves hiking so I kinda planned this Whole road trip with a lot of hikes in it. https://i.imgur.com/oz8DBa7l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1Uuyxbvl.jpg And that’s how we spent our 4th of July in the Tetons. We only spent 1 day but we had a great time. Nicole made enchiladas when we got back and some kind of white cake and pudding with fresh strawberries, blueberries and black berries with whipped cream for desert. Me and the girls swear it was the best dinner we ever had lol! When we left the Tetons on July 5th our plan was to stop at Leeks Marina to enjoy the views and eat Lunch from Leeks Marina Pizza but it’s was closed due to Covid, it was a sad day we had to eat sammiches :( Our next stop is West Yellowstone. Cheers!
