RE: First Time RV Buyer

What year was that Monaco? I have a 1998 Monaco DP, 8.3, 6spd Alison. We have always kept it inside so it still shines like new. Heater core failed on the way home from FL New Years and had some suspension parts replaced about the only major things that have failed. Has 98,000mi on it. Heading back down to FL Monday. Stay safe.

RE: Would you back a camper for someone?

I have backed several in for other people. I have backed my 40ft DP into my driveway towing a 32ft enclosed trailer many, many times. All from the drivers side. You take your time and practice you will be ok just go slow and if its not going where you want stop, pull forward, and start over.....Don't worry about the gawkers, they to were learning once up on a time.

RE: Cost to repair or replace half a windshield?

I had 1/2 of the windshield replaced on my old 97 Winnebago and it was $1200. That was several years ago

RE: 2001 Holiday Rambler

MountainAir I had a new Winnebago Luxor in 1997 that had a factory Sony system. Monacos had the same in 1998. Popular system.

Bed level of new trucks

2021 GMC SRW 4WD---Had to get goose neck horse trailer lifted because truck was higher than old one. Was explained this way, have you ever noticed how the house part of an RV trailer sits on top of the wheels rather than down over them like they used to. I always had a class A so I never noticed but is this true?

RE: Too old to drive ?

Here we go. I will be 80 in 3 weeks and have driven the DP over 10,000mi in the past year towing a 30ft enclosed trailer or a car on a dolly. The enclosed holds my race car which I also drive. Took that mess to West Palm Beach over New Years. We are leaving Monday to go back to Fl for a couple of weeks. So far myself or anyone else has noticed any driving skills dropping off but when they do I will park it. For now I will carry on.

RE: Has camper quality gotten any better in the last 10 years?

My Monaco cost $234,000 new in 1998 and it has had very little of the problems many experience now with a new RV of any kind. I expect to get this quality today would cost 1/2 a million. So far and close to 90,000mi it has been good to me and just hope that continues.

RE: CC&R dated 1973 says no RVs, trailers, boats can be stored

I imagine about the time the complainer has to plop down some money to retain a lawyer to pursue something they could very well lose and still have to pay they rethink their complaint. Is it really worth it?

RE: Resuming Rving... ideas dealing with Covid.

Been all over the South East this year from central PA to West Palm Beach and as far West as Knoxville. Plenty of campground space and just kind of keep to our selves. We both have now had our 2nd Phizer Covid shots with no after affects. Heading back to FL next Monday. I say motor on but stay safe.

RE: Harbor Freight - what happened to the 20% off coupons

I have never seen a line at HF, never! I buy in bulk when I need it (TP) and when the Pandemic rush hit I had just bought a bundle of TP and paper towels at Costco and never did run short of either. Several times I was in there later and would see people with 4 bundles heading for the gate....they won't run out for 5 years. Many restaurants her offer free meals to vets on Veterans day and the lines are around the building. Although I am a 80 year old Vet I have never been that hungry.

RE: Fuel mileage

Exactly. My mileage and power all dropped coming home from FL. Guess you would just deal with it and drive on with fuel prices escalating? Took it in and it was more than just the filters. $160 fixed it though.

RE: Dollar General grocery?

You are dreaming if you think anything is cheap in a DG. I don't think anything casts $1 in there. In 3 years I have visited the DG I mentioned before twice. Although close I can't see it and don't use it.

RE: CC&R dated 1973 says no RVs, trailers, boats can be stored

My question is this. Since there is no evidence of anyone doing anything with this in over 50 years and there is no HOA, who is tasked with enforcing it as it appears the city (county)have no jurisdiction or desire?
