RE: 83 and have hung up the keys

So I run my mouth and get a head cold as soon as I got down here to Myrtle. But so far so good. Went to a old car museum and the man at the door was from where I was born and the owner lives where I live now. 1000 mi apart. Life is still good.

RE: How big a toad?

As stated difference of opinion. I bought the dolly for $700 20+ years ago. Bought tires for it twice (I carry a spare tire but have never used it) We travel extensively and I only remember one time having to unhook the dolly. At home I store it in the alarmed garage, 52X40 garage, along with the DP. Not much trouble with thieves out here in the country. I am 82 years old and can move that dolly around with 1 hand, drop it on the ball, plug in the lights, and its ready to go. So since I never unhook it, except at home, all I have to do is unhook 1 pin roll the car (any front wheel drive car I have at the moment) on the dolly, tighten down 2 straps, put the pin back in and down the road I go. Me and that Road Master just don't get along I guess and I was using tow bars 60 years ago when you, some times, just clamped them on your front bumper. Remember those? Anyway that tow bar that came with this car is out there in the back of my pick up hoping to find a loving new home..Anyway, just having some fun here. Everyone be safe and have fun on your travels

RE: How big a toad?

Live music you ask why I use a dolly, I can load a dolly in 5 min and it takes 1/2 hour + to hook up that Roadmaster mess. It came with the car when I bought it is why I have it. + that wheel wobble business when making short slow turns. No thanks. I can tow different cars etc so I am not stuck using 1 car every time. I don't know what they cost now but when I bought mine it was $700. Tow Master, Fayetteville, NC. Anyone want to buy my Road Master less the plate for the car?

RE: 83 and have hung up the keys

I'll be 82 in a week. Leaving for Myrtle Beach Sunday and so far so good. I even still drive my drag racing car. My Monaco has served me well for 22 years and is still as good as new with 98,000+ miles on it. It is stored at home so we have never had to deal with the storage issue. I am sure thats a hassle. We are really blessed. Many years ago I got rid of a large boat the same way. It got damaged in a hurricane and as I was checking the damage in dry dock someone offered to buy it. Good by boat and hello Monaco. I am sure you have many memories and it will be an adjustment not having the RV. Good luck on your next adventure.

RE: How big a toad?

Never heard of having a tow dolly registered and inspected, at least in the 3 states I have lived in. I always use a dolly even though my current toad is set up to flat tow. You have a lot to consider just make sure those offering advice here actually know what they are talking about.

RE: Price of camping

I may end up camped at my house in Glen Burnie. Guess I lived there for 50-60 years but never camped there. Been every where but there I guess. Thanks for all the suggestions.

RE: Seven States to Ban the Sale of Gas Powered Cars in 2035

My brother retired last year from one of the biggest coal companies in the US. Their coal was and will be all going to China as fast as they can mine it. At the time of his retirement they still had 20 years left on a contract to supply electric power plants there. Years ago our family was in the strip mining business and every pound of it went to Japan. They use our energy to produce products they sell to us, like wind mills and solar panels. We elect them and we then pay the price. ICEs will go this century as horses went in the last. I don't like it, but that is the way it is. America is only a small part of this earth and as long as India, China, and many others continue to burn coal the air will never clean up.

RE: Price of camping

Good luck with that unless its somewhere no one wants to go. Most are booked up in this area already for next year.

RE: Price of camping

Lantley Where are those places? I have been looking for a spot up there for a month or so and none have had a price that low.

RE: Insurance recommendations

I have had 2 claims with Progressive and both went seamlessly. 1 for an awning and 1 where the pass side mirror hit a sign and went into and broke the windshield. I was pretty happy with it all.

RE: RV Parks near Charleston, SC

I stayed in a KOA in Ladson. It was a straight shot in to Charleston from there. It wasn't a 5 star spot though.

RE: Price of camping

OK---maybe I didn't push the button. Thought it might be because I named Yogi Bear as the place.

RE: Price of camping

Well, I see my post was removed. Guess someone couldn't stand the truth. This morning I was quoted around $190 a night + tax etc at a campground in MD for 4 days in October 2023.

RE: How To Set Up An F-250 For Towing?

I might suggest that a trailer ball in that hole in the bumper is not enough, but then again we don't know the size of the trailer. I hope it has a real hitch installed under the bumper. The plug on the trailer should match one of the receptacles on the truck. It may or may not have factory installed controller. Need a lot more info just to answer your questions.

RE: Fall 2023 Adventure

I was just quoted $190+ tax etc per night for Oct 2023 at Yogi Bear in MD for a 4 night stay for a wedding. For that I'll fly in and stay 2 nights in a motel! Everything around there seems to be booked up they say for leaf peepers, what ever that is.
