RE: Fuel mileage

My Monaco with a 8.3 Cummins averaged 9.5 round trip to West Palm beach and back towing a car on a Featherlite trailer. I drive around 65 most of the time.

RE: Saw a unicorn F-150 on the road yesterday!

begum I also towed a 18ft camper trailer behind a new 68 Corvette for 2 years. Started out in Dallas and worked a year in DC then back to Oklahoma City then back to Baltimore. Finally sold it in VA, car and trailer.

RE: Help! Heater core

Got the original part from Comfort Air in Michigan for $197 about $80 less than the other place. Will chime back in when I get the part in hand sometime this week. Hope those following can find this post as it now seems to be hidden

RE: abbreviation lookup or glossary

I call it to lazy to write out the complete word....1/2 the time I have no clue what they mean but I am getting better.

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

Since my post is gone I suppose you thought something was wrong with my helping a woman in distress without thinking she had an ulterior motive. Why don't you PM me with what was wrong with my post?

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

I posted before but this also happened to me. A lady posted on here she needed someone to drive her 45ft DP towing a 24ft enclosed trailer from CA to FL. Had a whole bunch of BS offers + people wanting a fortune to do it. I contacted her and agreed to do it just for expenses. She made all the arrangements, I flew out, took 3 days to get back to FL. I started flying back home and got stranded in Charlotte 2 days by a snowstorm. Her husband had died in CA. I never heard from her after.

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

I dropped out last year in FL. The EMS hauled me off to the hospital. Daughter flew down from MD and drove our DP back home. I am 80 and it turned out to be something minor but I think we have all our ducks in a row. Don't matter if I drop dead they got to figure it out--I won't be here. I just try to keep on moving and not worry about things like that

RE: Help! Heater core

3 more hours and it is out. 5 total. Pretty straight forward but with little more than the Irv pictures it took me awhile because I didn't want to break or mess up anything. That sucker was stuck even after all the bolts were out....there are only 4 as the other 4, which I also removed, hold the metal piece on the back on. Now to order a new one.

RE: Help! Heater core

OK, 2 hours into this project and the rain came. I removed the panel in front of the gen and pushed the gen back as far as it would go. Lots more working room. I then removed the pass side headlight assembly, 4 screws and unplug it. Better access, Not sure on the bolt deal but it appears to only have 4 but since there are 4 smaller ones it may have 8. I have 3 of them out and the housing still don't want to move..... will get back to it as I don't think rain will last long.

RE: Help! Heater core

The RV in those pics is different than mine as it looks like the gen cover lifts up and mine comes out with the gen. But it looks like only 6 bolts to remove the cover. I will try it, stay tuned.

RE: Help! Heater core

Mountain Air I saw that before. BUT it looks like they have the gen pushed in and I had it out--I'll take another look. Labor I don't worry about, those guys got to eat to. I am sure some of the people that paid me, a person that never finished high school, thought I charged a lot of money but fact was I could do the work and there were few that could or would. So now its my turn to not be able to do the work so I don't mind paying.

RE: Help! Heater core

Guess I need to get it pulled out. Looks like a bit to much for my 80 year old self. Looks like the easiest way is to take out the head light and go in through there. Thanks everyone

RE: Help! Heater core

Iryrob I bought that 23 year old unit new and its never sat outside other than when I was using it. I paid it off in 3 years so no more payments and to get one of this quality would probably cost 1/2 a million. That radiator is 16.5X6.25x2.75. Pretty small to cost that much but if I don't find a better deal I'll bite the bullet---don't look easy to do to me!

Help! Heater core

Need a NEW heater core for a 1998 Monaco Windsor Part number I have is E56407. I found one place at $276 surely there is another source for less than that---if not I'll just bite the bullet.

RE: Ruined manual transmissions

In 1966 I towed a 4 speed 1959 El Camino from Mesa, Arizona to Washington, DC behind a 66 T Bird. Both ran for years until I got rid of them.

RE: RV parts shortages

Well after 1 day looking I have found one outfit that claims to have my heater core. $276.00. Monaco part number is E56407 and all suggestions will be considered.

RE: Tow Dolly Question

Tires on my dolly are like the ones on the DP. They age out before they wear out. Saving fuel?, thats probably wrong but it sounds good. I have seen 2 Smarts being towed 4 down and should have took a closer look. We bought a Honda C RV new in 2017 and got a front wheel drive only so we could tow it on the dolly. Got caught in a bad snow storm in North East PA and the front wheel drive did just fine. I also bought a Featherlite trailer so I can take my F-150 if I want or anything else for that matter. We all tow what we think is best for us so just be happy if it satisfies you.

RE: RV parts shortages

getting ready to hunt down a heater core for my Monaco Windsor, 1998. Best one I have encountered is the step motor. $300+ at dealer and $45 from Auto Zone. And its like that for everything. If you can find out who made it you can usually find it and usually cheaper.
