RE: Wanna bring a golf cart and a Jeep towed

I sometimes take my Smart car and race car on an open 20ft Featherlite trailer. AS far as length goes for a long time I towed all over the country at 72ft but with the open I am down to 60ft. Trailer weighs 1800lbs,

RE: 20 year old hoses

A few years ago I had the radiator replaced on my Freightliner Chassis DP. About a month later a top radiator hose failed on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere. No help to be had so I had to abandon it, get a rental car, buy tools, hose and clamps and repair it myself which was no fun. It was hot and I at the time was 75 years old. They had not replaced the hoses while replacing the radiator.

RE: Short Term Winterising

I never really winterize. Most of my "water" is located in the same area or compartment including the water heater. If the temp is going to be below freezing I turn on the water heater and have a heater inside to keep it above freezing in the bathroom and kitchen. Did this for years in MD and now in NC and so far its been OK.

RE: 1999 Monaco Windsor Dash air/heat trouble

That was good. So many things on these motor homes are simple to fix if only we could find what is causing the problem---

RE: Diesel Pusher upgrading to heavier toad-advice needed

you will see the difference on the hills. No matter if its in the slip stream, and has little friction you still have to "lift" it to go up hill. Still shouldn't make much over all difference.

RE: Looking to buy our first DP

I currently have a 36ft Monaco that has a queen bed. I previously had a 45ft Dynasty, and a 40 ft Winnebago. Never got turned away from any campground but never tried a forest service place.

RE: Ford V10 Catalytic Converter

RE: Ford V10 Catalytic Converter

My friend has a auto salvage yard and cuts the converters off first thing as soon as they get there. If he don't the thieves will get them but once he sold a truck load for $17,000 and another time $14,000. Those things are pricey. When I lived in Baltimore at the airport they stole 100s one night in the long term parking lot. Good luck with your search.

RE: 1987 37' Winnebago Elandan for Sale >$45,000< ??

Junk man can't even use it---Nothing there of value after sitting so long and then you have the "house" to get rid of.

RE: House Batteries are fully charged but acts like they are not

Load test the batteries. Might show you something different

RE: RVs and California's Planned Power Outages

Toadtoes I think you speak of Elicott City, MD flooding caused by unabated development in the drainage area West of town. My daughter lives there in the historic district and so far nothing has been torn down or resolved. Pretty sad situation though and hardly a comparison to whats going on in CA. Neither the floods or the fires will be stopped, nature don't work that way.

RE: Oil stick problem - need help

I had a 2007 Dynasty with the 450 in it and somewhere along the line something was done to it that caused the rubber at the top of the dipstick to be bigger than the hole in the tube and somewhere along the line they notched the dipstick so they could tell when it was full with the dipstick not all the way in. I discovered this in Houston on a cross country trip because it was blowing oil out the tube. Got it fixed locally with a new dipstick and problem was solved. Sold that thing around 2009.

RE: MH accident in gas station!

My family has been in the towing business for 60+ years. As far as the tow went the tow truck was to small for the job but he done fine winching it away from the pumps. Even though I suspect he was fine picking it up by the hitch since that was the only thing he could do with that equipment. If he would have had the correct equipment he could have reached clear under and lifted it by the rear axel even though it was out of position, the axel was still attached to the springs but had moved. Would still have been an awkward tow that way. So considering his equipment I think he did the best he could. That business at that mud hole storage lot knocking off the mirror etc left something to be desired. Owner of motor home didn't seem to be much concerned though.

RE: RVs and California's Planned Power Outages

It escapes me why people continue to live there. I spent one year there long ago and took about 6 months to plan my own escape. No telling how much money and grief I have saved over the years.

RE: Replacing Thethrod toilet with Dometic

I did mine and the flange looked just like the ones in the house and I didn't buy an adapter. Take your old one off and look, worst thing that could happen is you are at Lowes or Home Depot buying a flange. This was just this summer. It did not line up square so I loosened the big clamp and twisted it straight. took about 1/2 hour.

RE: Help Switching to 40' Pusher

You will be ok. You towed that car hauler fifth wheel you can drive anything. I have had up to a 45ft DP with 450hp and towed from 28 to 32 ft tag from coast to coast and it was easier for me than the fifth wheel I had for awhile. No one here but me since wife and dog both died so I now have a 36ft DP and have downsized my trailer to a 20ft Featherlite. Oh, I am 78 years old!

RE: 2 Years with a Older Class A

Guess I am lucky. I bought an 8 year old high end DP kept it 12 years and in all that time other than yearly service which averaged about $300 each year only did the following in 40,000+miles. tires $1800 radiator $1500 injector line $300 This unit was never babied and seldom sat for more than a month. I have had its replacement for a little over a year now and had one repair that was there when I bought it and cost around $2000. They are expensive but fuel and repairs are things you have to do if you want to use them and ride.
