RE: Seeking advice on towing vehicle

You never have "to much truck". That being said the dually will have 50% more tire on the ground just for starters. Don't matter how much go power you have if you can't get it stopped.

RE: Should I carry a spare tire?

I always carried one in my 40ft DP but my current 36ft DP don't have any room for it. Its sitting in my garage right now while I decide what to do with it. Won't fit in the Smart Car toad. By the way the new Good Year tire and the used 22.5 rim cost me around $350.

RE: One of those things about traveling

In the 70s I was travelling on US 50 from VA to the Ohio river. Unknown to me a hurricane was dumping mass amounts of water along the route. At one point I took a picture of a fire dept building almost covered with water while I was sitting in about 3 in of water on the road. By the time the storm was over that place was under 9ft of water and somewhere around 70 people had lost there lives, most along that road. Many being trapped on the same road I had passed over.....Made me shiver to think about it even today.

RE: Anyone traveling yet

Got word from our WV destination to call them June 1 to see if they will be open or not. Gov has yet to let them open———so I guess we wait.

RE: 20 year loan for RV?

I have a friend that did just that. Financed for 20 years at $1500 per month. It is about 10 years old now, about wore out, worth about 1/2 what he owes on it, and still has 10 years of $1500 payments left. No thanks.

RE: Route 50 from Winchester VA to Chillicothe OH

I have done that trip a million times in about everything with wheels. Last trip was in a 40ft DP with a toad. Its sometimes steep and crooked but I have never had a problem with it. I am booked in up there June 10 just waiting on word from private camp ground.....State camp sites still have a 14 day quarantine for people from out of state. But unless you are unsure of yourself and your rig I would go ahead, the scenery is worth it.

RE: Chipmunks

Squirrels ate the fuel line in one of my cars. .22 rifle and 7 dead ones later the problem was over. Now a red tailed hawk has taken up residence in our back woods and it controls the squirrel population well.

RE: Advice Please - Airbags & Weight Distribution Hitches

No matter how you do it the end result should be the truck and the trailer sitting level which also requires adjusting the hitch hight.

RE: Stainless steel screws

I manufactured commercial kitchen equipment for 40 years and never had a problem screwing stainless screws into aluminum.....probably used a ton of them in my lifetime.

RE: Family National Parks Road Trip

I think you can do it---I took my youngest when she was 10. Left Baltimore and zig-zagged out to Mt Hood and skied on the glacier end of August. Headed South and got as far as Nogales Mexico then headed east. We were in a class B and planned as we went and were gone over a month, coast to coast and border to border. She is 44 now and I am 79 and we know that so many of the places we visited and stayed in are gone or off limits now. To many never get to see this country. DW and I are planning another trip out West this fall to see how much it has changed. Been all over the world, want to look at the US once more.

RE: MH models with the fewest slides

I had a really nice 98 Winnebago Luxor with no slides and also a 36ft Monaco with only one.

RE: Anyone traveling yet

We have more than one house and have spent most of our time out here at our country house with nothing but cows for neighbors. It’s about 60mi to our house we built about 5 years ago in the city close to all the medical facilities. Nothing here but dying like flies over there so we are at the farm. Took the DP to service shop yesterday and told him we had to be ready to go June 1. Have reservations in WV 10 June and if that works out we will start to get going as much as we can. Want to head out West in the fall. Virus needs to go

RE: Used diesel, anyway to tell if it's been chipped?

My first suggestion would be get one with dual rear wheels. Makes the truck much more stable in wind and being passed by big trucks. I owned one SRW for less than a year, enough of blowing around. I never regretted having a diesel either they run forever.

RE: Can I purchase any wheel with the right size & bolt pattern?

Spares are just that, spares. I bought 2 new mounted tires online for less than $100 including shipping. They have made just fine SPARES.

RE: Towing capacity - surprisingly little on new coaches

Winnebago Luxor, Monaco Windsor, and Monaco Dynasty. All Cummins power 325, 350 and 450hp. One with tag axel. Probably all over loaded but all handled and towed and stopped well. Had one tire failure and some kind of air suspension balancing valve one time. Been pretty lucky as far as on road failures. Had to leave it once for a radiator hose failure but that was close to home.
