RE: 2021 Chevy Tahoe with 3.0 Diesel

I have one of the last full size blazers with the 6.5 turbo diesels (1994) with around 300,000mi on it and when broke in it got 30mpg and today gets pretty near 27-28mpg. 27 with that little engine is not very impressive.

RE: Long Road trip

I had 1 TT a long time ago—2 class C. Then a 45ft Dynasty w/4slides, to big then a 40ft Winnebago DP that we wore out. Now we have a 36ft Monaco DP and it’s perfect towing the Smart car. Lately longest trip was 700mi and I drove it in one day. I will be 80 soon and still rolling. DP

RE: Underbay Storage Slideout - need design

Just buy the ready made ones. I have 2 in my Monaco but not cheap.

RE: Surge breaks on a dolly

Don’t want to discourage anyone from getting brakes but I have used a dolly without brakes for as long as I can remember with zero problems. I have hauled everything from an Excursion to my current Smart car. A DP like I have can stop it if it’s set up correctly.

RE: Don’t Use TSD Fuel Card In Oregon

Not related to fuel but I am charged a "rain water run off fee" and a Flush tax (because I have septic). How's that for a tax?

RE: Considering an LLC, looking for experiences

+ you are hearing from people that don't know what they are talking about. I mentioned above that I never transferred my vehicles from MD to NC when I moved 15 years ago and still maintain MD as my primary residence (I own homes in 3 states). Simple fact was it was going to cost me $10,000+ then I would have to pay personal property tax and vehicle inspection forever. Tax loop holes are not limited to the rich, you to can take advantage of them. I pay enough taxes!

RE: Considering an LLC, looking for experiences

I have a friend here in NC that has his RV registered in TN. He bought it new but not sure where. He owns a lot near Pigeon Forge and uses that as his address and primary residence......used to have a condo at Bristol race track. For tax purposes period. My vehicles are all but one registered in MD, no yearly property tax, inspection, or emissions on diesels.

RE: This is why you never buy a house on land you don't own

In Baltimore many homes are on land not owned by the home owner--they call it ground rent and it goes on forever. Talking brick/stick built homes, not trailers.

RE: Camp Ground Flood in NC

Sorry about the mislocation. That was what the local TV said so I assumed they knew. Don't help much to give a location no one ever heard of so Asheville may have been the only recognizable place near this. The TV news last night said they found the 1 year old child dead.

RE: What did you wake up to this morning?

I normally look out front window to a field full of cows + 2 Llamas. This morning it is raining so hard I can not see the field and we have a flood warning---hurricane left overs

RE: CDN Snowbirds getting their RV's across....

Just another example of I have money so the rules don’t apply. My brother and his wife live in Texas and went to Vancouver to visit her sick Mom and were quarantined for 14 days up there. Health dept checked on them every day. They then flew back home where there was no quarantine.

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Going out this morning to wash the DP from our 1000mi ride in the rain awhile back. How often is it 75 with blue skies this late in the year

RE: Thoughts on the Cost of RVing

I bought gas here today for $1.70, another place had it for $1.60. I may never see that again if all the green new deal works out. Never mind all my oil and fracking leases. Don’t look good folks.

RE: travel during covid

We have made several trips of 1 or 2 weeks. Someone above mentioned Smokey Mountains being crowded but I never saw that. We stayed a week in Pigeon Forge, a week in Hendersonville, and a week in Linville and never saw much of a crowd anywhere except on a Sat in the Chimney Rock, Lake Lure area. Took another trip up through WV, PA, MD, and VA (2 weeks 1000mi and 4 campgrounds) and although it was leaf peeping time saw very few crowds. Also spent a week in Annapolis. Heading to West Palm Beach in Dec. We are 75 and 79 so we just try to stay safe and keep on rolling. Safe travels everyone.

RE: Health Insurance

Good ol VA! Has thanked me for my service many times. Free. Got access when I joined up at 17. Smartest thing I ever did

RE: Thoughts on the Cost of RVing

We just returned from 2 weeks and 1000mi. $533 for campgrounds, all private, $300 for diesel, and $61 for propane for furnace, range, and refrigerator. This is in a 36ft diesel pusher towing a Smart car. Got 8.5 mpg average w/8.3 Cummins.
