RE: Is GasBuddy any use at all now??

Forgot to mention I use my I-12 but had it on I-8 and 11 before. Been using it a long time.

RE: Is GasBuddy any use at all now??

I just made a trip and it worked fine---saves me a lot of money. I look when I need fuel not days or miles in advance.

RE: Flying J frustrations - Alternatives?

On a previous F-350 I had a 110gal tank in the bed and the OEM tank held 40 gal. My trailer and truck combined weighed around 22,000lbs and it was pretty easy to go 1500mi without fueling

RE: Flying J frustrations - Alternatives?

I have probably saved enough to buy a new DP by staying out of truck stops. Few weeks back I went to Bristol, TN on I-81. When I went through Wythville, VA every truck stop sign was $3.40--$3.45 cash on the way down. Coming back 5 days later the price had gone up to $3.45--$3.50. I filled up at a place right off the interstate below Bristol for $2.79 with a credit card. I got 80+ gallons so I saved over $50. Won't catch me in no filthy Flying J. And my DP and trailer are over 70ft long.....They live by fleecing those truck drivers with no mercy.

RE: We attempted to use the service today

Isn't that the truth. Poor Ella---our dog is named Ella and she probably would do as much good! Bottom line is they changed who handled their road service and it has been down here from there.

RE: interstate 40 from New York to Las Vegas

Interesting as I usually carry cash and sometimes a lot of it as I don't like credit cards. Also those tag readers, friend and his family from SC were on the way to a wedding in there car and were stopped in Baltimore on a hot day and asked where his gun was. He told them it was home in his safe which prompted the police to make them get out of the car while they searched for the gun. After an hour in the hot sun they were let go but were told that the tag reader at the tunnel had somehow indicated that he had a concealed carry permit at home and it was not honored in MD....Big brother is watching us!

RE: Still searching for info

Not a Newmar but my DP has switches on each of the storage compartments under the slide that will not let the slide work if they are not closed TIGHT. They sometimes get out of adjustment enough that the slide won't work.

RE: I-40 bridge to memphis

Is there really someone in the US that don't know about that I-40 bridge? OK its closed for a significant fracture in one of the main supporting beams and has been for some time.

RE: Home - Waste Dump

Our in town house has a clean out at the property line right into the city sewer. I don't know what size it is but my DP drain hose screws right in to it. Built that house 5-6 years ago and have used it ever since.

RE: interstate 40 from New York to Las Vegas

Cash works good in TN so why would you suggest to not carry it?

RE: Radial Tire Valve Core Failures

I run 105 also on the same size tire but I have never had a valve core failure.

RE: Replacement Toilet Recommendations

I think I replaced mine with a Dometic porcalyn one. Don't remember the number but it cost around $500 and is just like one in the house + has a spray hose.

RE: Which old motorhome to buy

Got a couple of women in NC building skoolies for sale ready to go. Read about it in the Our State Magazine.

RE: Which old motorhome to buy

My Monaco is a 1998 and I wouldn't trade it for a new one. 36 ft and built to last. I have put about 91K on it and the only thing thats wrong is the dash a/c has to be charged every now and then. But I have kept it inside and well maintained inside and out. These are a little pricey even now after all these years.....No to a skoolie!

RE: Carbon Monoxide Detector Proper Placement

Interesting--I worked as a contractor in Vietnam and lost 2 of my employees to carbon monoxide. A pump in a well stopped working and the foreman went down in it, about 40ft, to see what wrong and the workers above saw him fall into the water and another one went down. He to fell in the water. When they were got out it was determined that the carbon monoxide had killed them. I had been down in that well myself no problem but we in the meantime had started a diesel power station right above the well. We were told that carbon monoxide had settled in the well because it was a heavier gas. Were we told wrong? I have always believed that since then.

RE: Catalytic converter anti-theft

Really? I am 20 mi from town and 4mi from closest neighbor but a church is 3mi up the road and has had the cats stolen off of their bus twice. Sitting in a well lighted car port. Thieves and drugs are in the country also. But those 2 big white dogs do a pretty good job of keeping thieves at bay here, no market for drugs here either.

RE: Pet peeve, neighbors leave porch light on

AS I said before I have better things to worry about. My bedroom door closes off the light and we have those "black out" curtains in there. Trust me installed right it is dead black in there with the bright sun out. I do like dark so we live 20+ miles from town, 4 miles from closest neighbor, and no street lights. But complain about lights in a camp ground, not a chance. I live my life and let others do the same.
