RE: Stanislaus River COE host

We have hosted at StanislUs 3 different times. They have 4 different hosting spots on the river. Your experience will depend on where you are and when you go. Winter season is very kick back at all 4 parks, with light visitation and not much to do. They say they ask you for 40 hours but in reality you'll have something to do about 10 hours. Basically you provide a 'presence' in the park. They have gates thT are supposed to open Automaticaly in the morning 6am and you just have to make sure they open. You can do that at a couple of the parks by listening from your rig! You have to manually close and lock the gates at dusk. These are day use parks only. Heather is a great ranger to work for and you have lots of autonomy, there are days you will not see a ranger. During the summer it's a different ball game. These parks are quite busy and are popular spots for putting in and taking out river rafters. The parks will fill up and you will have to control traffic as well as keep things clean. They have special contracted crews that clean the rest rooms and do the landscaping, you just need to keep things neat. It can get hectic in the summer. The winters rarely get below freezing but the summers can get hot. Do you know which park you will be at. We envy you. Heather fills her spots early.

RE: Hot Water Heater Problem

Your Atwood 10 gallon heater should be the same as ours on our 2006 There is a mixing valve on the back of the heater that can get clogged up or become defective and will cause this symptom. We just removed the mixing valve and it solved our problems. However, you need to be careful because you now have become the mixing valve!

RE: Boyce-Thompson Arboretum needs volunteers.....

I think that if you know a specific offer lacks something you would normally expect AND it does not make mention of that fact then one is certainly justified in bringing up the point to make everone aware. But I think this comment was precipitated by the mention of 'no propane' in the aforementioned ad. The complaint was being made that they were 'nickel and dimeing' the prospective work camper. In some cases this could be true, ESPECIALLY if it were not mentioned. The BTA rep did the right thing here by mentioning that propane was not included. This is especially relevant since last year it was included. Full disclosure has been performed. I think that someone could be on a mission to try and increase work amper remuneration and or working hours. A noble goal! However this is what I would call a volunteer position rather than a workcamper. Possibly just semantics.......

HELP Atwood automatic leveler - no power to control pad

Our 06 Bounder 38L has Atwood electric automatic levelers. When we came back from the glass shop (had windshield replaced) and tried to set up there was no power to the control pad (buttons) as evidenced by inability to turn on (no lights). we are full timers and currently volunteering at a hatchery. Luckily our pad is almost level and requires no correction but walking around in an unstabilized coach is not to DW liking and therefore not to mine. Our next destination may not be so level! So I would like to get it fixed. Took control panel off the wall and found it just had one cable attached (4 wires) and they were still firmly attached. I removed and reattached them several times just in case of a poor connection. Nothing. There was no fuse on the control board and I cannot find a fuse in all the normal spots. I figure that the board has died,or a fuse somewhere has blown (for what reason?), or that there is a problem with one of the sensors (motor must be running,in neutral and emergency brake engaged in order for it to work). Any idea where I can start? Really don't want to take it to another shop $$$! Thanks for any help Terry
