RE: Water Pressure Regulator

I've done the tank fill & use method for over 8 years and had no problems with pumps. Another benefit to doing this is if your tanks are in a heated basement and the water coming out of the ground is 36ยบ is has a chance to heat up before you use it.

RE: Dentist in Mexico

https://www.dentaldepartures.com is a great resource. We've used Ciro Dental for a few years and have had cleanings, crowns and my DW has had an implant there. There are dental labs in Los Algodones so a crown, etc. only takes a couple days.
We did try one of the large clinics once because our Dentist was out of town and were thoroughly disappointed. First we had to pay up front, then came the hard sell for all kinds of services. Finally after sitting over an hour waiting for our cleaning and seeing people walking up and getting serviced before us we decided to give up. Took over an hour to get our money back.
There are a couple hundred dentists in Los Algodones so there is much competition to provide great prices and service. Nice parking lot at the border, walk across, then go through customs to get back into the USA.
Bring your Rx's list and check out eyeglass prices there also.

RE: Solo fire pit

I thought about and almost bought one but decided to get this instead, may not be as smokeless: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184629779053
Note that this is for my cabin but since it's collapsible and built out of heavy steel should work for an RV. This is another brand that is very similar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/304266221025?hash=item46d7ae15e1:g:V90AAOSwuj5hui4~
Also there are many copies of the Solo (not sure who copied who).

RE: Is there an Air Conditioner using Inverter Compressor

The roof mount cassette units are just the evaporator, you still have to mount the compressor somewhere else. Also the cassettes are larger than the standard 14" square opening in RVs.
There was one being developed in Australia a few years ago but I think Dometic gobbled them up. Probably killed the unit since it was a competitor. An inverter rooftop AC would be a game changer!
There are some inverter window units available now.

RE: This the season

Not limited to northern states. Here in Louisiana our winters are very mild yet most road construction occurs during the summer. Why? Who knows. Construction could easily be conducted during the winter and there would be more out of state contractors willing to bid on jobs and more workers available. Nice to keep our local contractors busy but it would at least force them to lower their prices.
A bridge over the Mississippi River near us has had ongoing construction by our DOT personnel for a few months now. They tear up the surface one day then about a week later they resurface it. Then after a couple weeks paint lines on one side. Then a couple weeks later paint the signs on the other side. Then along comes the parish and digs up the new road surface to lay a new drainage line. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Deja Vu all over again.
Meanwhile there is major multi year construction on I-10 at Baton Rouge that will force traffic down to 1 lane on both east and westbound lanes. Just a heads up for anyone traveling through BR this summer.

RE: Feels like I hit the Jackpot

Mouse probably saw a hamster running on a wheel and decided to try it. Had that happen to my sewer air pump at our S&B. Pump quit, pulled out the mangled POS and it ran fine.

RE: Just give me the bad news.

For a 2015 I'd list it on Facebook marketplace and note the problems. It'll sell for more than you can imagine. Someone will buy it and fix the problems and flip it for twice what they paid you. That truck is in very high demand right now.
Or go to Edmunds or Carmax and have them give you a quote. Edmunds will connect to you with local dealers who will check it out and adjust the cash offer for the problems. If you disclose the problems you shouldn't have any bad feelings.

RE: Renogy Battery Monitor vs Trimetric UPDATE- Camping Test

I like the Victron BMV-712 also since it has bluetooth and you can adjust it and see everything on your phone or MacBook. Their Smart Shunt is the same thing without the gauge, great value if all you want is a bluetooth unit.

RE: Hwy 5 to little gold and Dawson City

Yes there is free firewood in Canada's campgrounds but bring an axe to split it!
We stayed at Riverview in Fairbanks for 2 weeks and drove the truck up past Atigun pass and spent 2 nights in a cabin in Wiseman. Riverview was a nice safe campground. This was in 2019.

RE: La Veta Pass (Colorado) with old and heavy RV?

And La Veta pass has 2 lanes on the climb up on either east or west side so you shouldn't hold up traffic. Just gear down especially going downhill and keep your speed down. I've done it in 26' up to 45' DP weighing at 58,000# with toad. Enjoy your trip!

RE: US might have been wrong about Ethanol

I remember discussing this back in college in the 70's. Basically the discussion was it was wrong to use food products to produce fuel for various reasons. We also in class decided that using waste products to produce methanol was a better idea. Back then the technology wasn't refined to use methanol as a fuel. Now we have technology to produce ethanol from methanol using waste products and have had it for quite a few years. But the lobbies aren't interested in changing.

RE: Colorado Rt. 92 from Sapinero Hotchkiss?

The lower section along the Black Canyon to Hwy 50 is curvy. Be aware that that route is being used as a detour due to the construction on Hwy. 50 halfway between Gunnison and Montrose and there is a 70' restriction. Check out https://www.us50info.com/impacts for more info.

I also log each fillup to see if anything is changing. But mpg's are also important to know your range between fillups.

Make sure your towing policy will cover you off the road. Some limit the distance off a road to a hundred feet or so.
