RE: Truck of the Year

I agree with Rick... I also have to wonder how much it cost Rivian and or Lucid Air to become the vehicle of the year??? :h not a knock because they are EV, but just because...... There are other EV's that I would pick over those 2 named

RE: 5th wheel hitch security

In a CG, overnight, I lock my tailgate! Much easier to steal, than hitch, very expensive, easy pickins for someone in need, and yes, this, I have heard others tell of their bad experience. Jerry Jerry, I use this - McGard Tailgate Lock to prevent my tailgate from growing legs and wandering away... I too have heard of folks loosing their tailgates.. I lock my doors and the tailgate locks, thought all newer trucks did so? They do BUT..... If the arse hole pops the handle apart and is able to open the tailgate, its all over then . . . At least I would still have a tailgate that needed some attention

RE: 5th wheel purchase advise - Solitude or Jayco

I am NO FAN ( myself ) of the FL floor plans, just my opinion. I know folks that have Jayco, and folks that have a 2022 Solitude 375 RES both really like their units. The Solitude has had 2-3 small issues caused by the dealer ( incident with employee moving it ) and only 1 warranty issue . Grand design has been awesome to work with and shipped all parts needed to their house, and arranged with a local dealer ( purchased 16 hrs away ) to do the work. I agree with the Dual Pane Windows, we got them back in 08 and have had them on the list 3 RV's as we like them that much.

RE: For those with no bathroom access during travel mode.

No bathroom access is a deal breaker for my wife..... and no access to at least 1/2 the fridge as well..

RE: Morryde Suspension and Wet Bolt Upgrade

I also agree !

RE: efficient basement storage for Bliss style chairs?

I put 2 eyebolts into the rear wall of the basement about an 1” wider than my chairs. I store them in the upright position, held that way by a 1” ratchet strap hooked to each eyebolt.

RE: hydraulics in cold weather

FACT is if someone wanted to start :Bmaking roads out of asphalt and also adding chip seal to it and this technology was new there is NO WAY the greenies would let this ever happen. And if we had started recycling tires before steel belts we would never had steel wire in tires. You EV people are living in Fantasy Island if you think your vehicles are "clean and green". What is your solution? Burn it all down? Burn it all down.. ?? Sounds like the Tesla crowd is doing that all by themselves…. Seams like we are hearing more and more stories about Tesla’s burning to the ground… I like rolling coal ! ! ! !

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch What Kind

Lyle, I am NO B&W expert, but in my 2 years of using the Companion, I have never had to pin the handle open... What sez the prez ?

RE: hydraulics in cold weather

Cold will make hydraulics work slow. Some hydraulic systems use various types of fluid which effects system operation. What system do you have and what fluid is in it? Some hydraulic systems, not nessesarily rvs, have screens on the intake to the pump that can become restricted. My unit is a new KZ Durango Gold with an LCI system. Have no idea what type of fluid is in it. Haven’t looked into that yet. Was just here searching for clues. my LCI system uses Hydraulic Fluid... There was a bulletin out to add a quart of motorcycle fork oil, or CAT hydraulic fluid additive to help in removing Popping sounds that some were hearing.

RE: Half ton towing

Quote from Gdetrailer - "I would love to see anyone show a sticker from their "1/2 ton" with a available cargo that meets or exceeds 3,800 lbs.. Oh, by the way, the newer F250s if you chose a XL standard cab 4x2 gas with short bed can easily have cargo ratings of 4K.." END QUOTE My 2019 F150 set up to tow, 3.5 eco boost, max tow package, you name it, and it only has a payload of 1526# My son in law just got his 2022 F250 with 6.7.. It has the Max tow package on there as well that boosts the GCVWR to 30,000#. BUT the payload is only 2796# on the sticker... So, I agree, there is NO 1/2 ton towable with that type of payload..

RE: hydraulics in cold weather

I will say that my limited exposure to cold weather camping has been exactly that. My jacks would NOT completely go up the first time.. The first time it happened I was concerned, but after asking on forums found it was normal. I have NOT experienced a slide issue as of yet due to cold/thicker Hydro fluid

RE: Bought a second truck.

In my mind the pedal rubbers are upside down. I thought the same exact thing ! And it's missing the gas pedal that is a chrome foot ! That is 1 special find, and for a truck of that age to have basically NO RUST is amazing!! not on the the fenders, tailgate, nowhere..

RE: Looking for a campground around Sarasota

We stayed at Sun N Fun 3 years ago.. it is nicely located right off Rt 75 and not far from downtown Sarasota... We will stay there again. If you have kids, there are a lot of amenities for them as well..

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch What Kind

ReneeG - WAY back in the early 2000's we purchased our first fiver (we had a short bed ) and researched hitches before.... I wanted the best, and at that time the fivers were a bit more "SQUARE" on the front end... I can count on 1 hand how many times I actually NEEDED that slider.... SO, fast forward to 2020, looked online, Super glides in good condition were still getting decent money, so I ditched an almost 20 year old hitch for $400
ford truck guy 12/01/21 10:45am Fifth-Wheels
RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch What Kind

No NEED for a slider with the new Long Bed... Wanted to turn it into cash and put towards the new B&W... That was just 1 of the benefits of going from a short bed to a long bed

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch What Kind

Another B&W Fan Club Member here...... I was a bit skeptical at first because of the stellar treatment I received while owning my Pullrite Superglide. 2 years in and I am impressed :C

RE: Should I get a new hitch in my new truck

you can get decent cash for the Pullrite... I did this 2 years ago when my 2020 long bed Ford was due to hit... I Sold the perfectly good circa 2006 Pullrite for $400.00 and put that money towards a Brand Spanking New B & W Companion and am thrilled I did..... Testament to my statement above "who doesn't want a new hitch in their new truck"! Good advice here! Jerry True that Jerry..... on 1 hand there is a 13 year old hitch with a bunch of maintenance ... On the other hand there is the creme de la creme of hitches ... It was easy to decide for me
