RE: Broken/ leaking exhaust manifold bolts

Well I do almost all my own work on everything. Here's a clue if you attempt it. Remove the wheel (from the side with the broken bold/stud) and remove the inner fender. (usually held in with plastic fasteners) Greatly improves access. Also another vote here for using alternative method (weld nut on) because I have never had success with an easy out.

RE: Tioga and George??

George was a real cool guy, and I miss him and reading his blog. I had been following him from the begining. I learned many things about campers from him. I know he lost a son, and I lost a dad, so I felt some connection to him on that. He really knew a lot about campers and camping. Pretty good mechanic too.

RE: Koni FSD where to get besides Shockwarehouse

Hello, I got all 4 FSD's in this weekend. (Have photos side by side with Motorcraft OEM I took out) no question the ride is better. Mostly the bouncing when exiting driveways at gas stations and such is much less. Was it worth the money? Mostly but probably would have been just as good with the Blisteins for a little less money. Interesting note, the FSD shocks are not gas filled so you don't have to fight the install length.

RE: Koni FSD where to get besides Shockwarehouse

RE: Koni FSD where to get besides Shockwarehouse

So now I feel bad I complained about Shockwarehouse. I was frustrated and only have so much time to research products I want to purchase. Those shocks are very expensive for a guy like me and I just wanted to make sure I would not have any problems..... Ended up getting them from another vendor. Between the rear airbags (firestone ride rite) and the new shocks, I should have a good driving rig. I will report back after I get them installed. Thanks to all who replied with suggestions....

Koni FSD where to get besides Shockwarehouse

Howdy, I finally decided to get a set of Koni FSD shocks for my 03 Winnie 24V. Where else can you get them besides Shockwarehouse? They have terrible customer service reviews and they jerked me around asking some simple questions about what was in stock. Other locations to purchase please? Thank you

RE: E350 vs E450 chassis pros and cons for a short 24 ft class C

Interesting discussion. I have found the brakes on my 2003 E350 stink. This chassis has rear discs. They are under sized in my experience. Just simply too small. Does the E450 have bigger brakes on both front and back? Also I think I heard the E450 has a better parking brake set up on the drive shaft. My vehicle parking brake set up (internal expanding shoes inside the rotor) is way too small. In fact if you check your owners manual it says the parking brake is not intended to stop the vehicle. It sure won't even when perfectly adjusted .....

RE: Water filters

you may want to consider a PUR Faucet Mount filter with quick disconnect (One Click) feature. Removes lead and cysts and about 70 other contaminants. Best of all it will filter right at the point of use. It can be simply removed from the faucet when traveling.

RE: Replacing Stereo

I begrudgingly changed out my Jensen "RV Radio" which came stock in my 03 Winnebago Mini 24V. It was a great radio because it had built in weather receiving . Went with a rebuilt radio from Factory Radio. Great company to deal with and a great product.

RE: Roadside Assistance

I suggest CB radio in situations with no cell phone service.

Ms Tioga and George

Howdy Folks, Sad news to report. George has passed away. If any of you have or had read his long going blog about RV adventures - we have lost a great guy. He was building a custom class C from a moving van after many years on the road. He will be missed by me and many other readers of his blog.

RE: 2000' Onan 4000 Microquite generator replacement

Had to chime in here. I agree with all. 220 hrs is not much. These are plauged with carb and fuel pump issues, but all solvable with much less cost then a new generator (at least one that fits and is made to work within the rv setting) It really is easy to drop the unit and take it out for service. By the way, the fuel pump is replacable without dropping the unit.

RE: self adjusting brake problem

Howdy, got a suggestion here: Self adjusting or not, the magnet needs to move freely on the post it resides on. I have had to clean up that post and free up the magnet in the past.

RE: We have lost a Great Friend of this Forum

Wow - very sad to hear this .... JD was an excellent guy. Not only in his technical knowledge and willingness to share with all, but also his demeanor on this discussion forum. I will miss him. Makes me wonder about all you folks I communicate with on the forums. Is it time to reach out (I hate that term ) and retire and go to travel out to meet some of you? Know one here is getting any younger. Again - Thank you JD

RE: V10 flute sound from throttle body area

I had a similar situation - 2003 Winnie Minnie V10. While I can't remember the exact location, it was a hose collapsing under vacuum. Created a duck bill sound. No real impact on engine operation.

RE: Storage compartment pans sagging, separating from sidewalls

Nice fix. It is depressing to see such early failure and such poor initial quality. The low drain pipes also concern me , but not much you can do with that unless you do a complete re-modification . When I see stuff like this it makes me appreciate my Winnebago which is a little better then most from my observations.

RE: Tips For Drilling Stainless Steel

Agree with all above. I have to add what my son just told me, keep the bit cool by on / off pulses while drilling stainless. I think many above may use this method but I thought I would spell it out specifically.

RE: Norcold shutting off - Fixed!

Wow , cool repair . Thanks for documenting it here. I have had a great deal of problems with my fridge but was resolved with a hard restart. Good to see the method to troubleshoot and replace this relay if needed.

RE: Delamination

Bought one with about that much delam. Perhaps some more. Repaired it successfully, but it was a great deal of work. I can share my methods if interested. But I want to mention the aluminium molding is terribly in in adaquate to maintain watertight joint (intersection of vertical and horizontal surfaces) I have recently seen custom made aluminium molding to resolve this issue. It is what needs to be done to permenently fix it. In my case I caulked the daylights out of that area and put Eternabond under the molding, because I could not get wider stuff.
