RE: The Verdic is in, New Ford 7.3 V-8 Gas mpg not so Great

Fuel mileage, and RVing do NOT belong in the same sentence. Gonna play. you got to pay. Got that right!

RE: Battery charger

The charger is working as it should. The problem is the path to the batteries.

RE: Where are you guys/gals getting your battery cables?

Added four more 6v batteries and a 2000 watt inverter. I made all the cables myself using the correct gauge cable, lug ends and an impact cable crimper. https://www.amazon.com/TEMCo-Hammer-Crimper-Tool-Warranty/dp/B00E1UUVT0

RE: Charging trailer battery while towing and smart charging

The charge voltage the tow vehicle battery needs is measured at its battery. The second battery is not a load so the voltage is not increased just because it is there. Operating in tow-haul or turning the headlights on will increase the output voltage. You need a larger gauge wire to carry that voltage. You would still have to measure output voltage to see if the increase is enough. I loathe the EPM system in our GMC Acadia. It doesn't ever fully charge the battery it leaves the battery at low voltages, 12.4, and lets is sit there and sulfate, reducing its capacity and preventing it to ever fully charge again. The battery goes into a death spiral.

RE: Xantrex Fredom 458 series inverter/charger 20 amp

Are the two breakers on front of the xantrex closed? With the inverter turned off and connected to shore power do you have 110v ac in the RV?

RE: Trickle Charging Chassis battery

Just make yourself a ring jumper, one wire, connect + of house to + of chassis battery. https://cdn3.volusion.com/cexgz.ftsjv/v/vspfiles/photos/CNX-170-2T.jpg

RE: National Sea Breeze bedroom slide gears

Is it a Power Gear? Model of RV makes no difference, just the model of the slide.

RE: Insulating exposed tanks

Sounds like the trailer is not all weather. This means all your water piping and water manifold is also exposed. An all weather RV has the piping and tanks enclosed with a heater duct directing heated air to the enclosure. Take a look to see.

RE: Vector 1500 inverter overloads on 300 watts

Your battery cables should be at least 4 AWG. Realize that a 300 watt inverter load is drawing about 30 amps from the batteries. You have to have battery cables large enough to carry the inverter load. At 1000 watts inverter load you will be drawing about 100 amps from the batteries. You did not say what the battery cable length or AWG size of your battery cable is. Those two make all the difference in inverter performance.

RE: Full time storage, but far away from home - possible?

Left my motorhome and toad in Anchorage for four winters, flew back and fourth on spring and fall. Put in sta-bil and disconnected ground on all batteries, all eight of them. You have to take care of the batteries also.

RE: Battery storage

Instead of powering up the converter and any parasitic loads, I disconnect the battery and use a Battery Tender for a few days a month. It could be left on indefinitely, bit I have other uses for it. With the trailer plugged in it is exposed to any electrical glitches in the power system. Cold will not harm a fully charged battery, in fact cooler temperatures are better for it. Best advice The lower the temperature the lower the self discharge rate. You really don't need a tender on a disconnected battery but you can connect one periodically if it makes you feel good.

RE: Furnace Cycles

Have a 2013 Cougar 32RBK Xlite and the furnace burner cycles on and off while the blower continues to run until the set thermostat temperature is reached. Was wondering if this is normal? This is the way my Atwood heater has operated for the 13 years that I have owned it.

RE: Water streaks on side windows

How do you remove window streaks? Glass cleaner does no good. Has to be some type of glass polish that does a good job of removing streaks caused by roof runoff.

RE: Lance Camper charging system

Another option is to charge them fully, then disconnect the ground cable. There will be zero battery load and they will not freeze. No worries about water levels or overcharging. Stored my MH and toad in Anchorage like this for four winters, eight batteries total with no problems.
