RE: Dish Network Play Maker Sat Antenna Problems

I guess then in order for the system to work, the RV would have to be re-wired with this 3 plus Gigahertz coax.

RE: Dish Network Play Maker Sat Antenna Problems

I did try connecting direct and it did work but why would the trailer wiring work on the Carryout dish but not on the Play Maker? Could it have something to do with the Play Maker requiring power through the coax?

Dish Network Play Maker Sat Antenna Problems

We have used an older generation Winegard Carryout Dish antenna for 5 years and it has worked very well. The downside though is that it requires 2 cables. One for the satellite receiver and the other for power. I thought it would be good To have one that receives its power through the receiver coax cable so that I only would need to deal with one cable. So we purchased a Play Maker unit. The problem is when changing channels it looses signal and requires resetting and new signal acquiring. i spent about 2 hours on the phone with Dish last night trying to sort it out with no luck. Their conclusion was that there is something wrong with the wiring in the trailer. What could be the problem? The previous Carryout Dish worked just fine with the same trailer wiring. By the way the receiver is connected to a dedicated satellite coax connection and not the cable connection.

Best type of house battery

Most RVs seem to have lead acid deep cycle marine batteries. However I’m just thinking that most but not all RVers rarely camp without shore power. The most instantaneous power demand is when running out slides or deploying jacks. So it seems to me that a standard or combination starting battery makes more sense than the deep cycle marine battery. One more question I have: I’m wondering if the higher cost for agm batteries is worth the money. The plus side to me is not having to keep up with the electrolyte levels. I would be interested in what others think about this or have experienced.

Wheel Bearings

We recently experienced a broken right side spring shackle. We actually drove about 500 miles on it before we discovered the problem. The trailer was sagging on the right side. The spring shackles were resting against the trailer frame. My question is do you think that would have caused any damage to the wheel bearings. The service guy that is repairing the suspension is recommending repacking the bearings due to our towing the trailer in that condition. What are your opinions. Thanks.

RE: Trailer leaning

I have discovered the problem. I would post a picture but do not know how to do that. There is a center rocker piece between the two axles. That rocker then is attached to the leaf spring by two straps (inboard and outboard sides of the spring) the straps have pulled apart where they attach to the bolt.

Trailer leaning

Noticed today that the trailer was leaning some to the right toward the right side of the road. There is also about an inch more clearance between the bottom of the nose section and the truck bed rail on left side. The rig tows straight and has no pull to either side. It just leans to the right some. I looked under it for a broken spring or shackle but all appears fine. Has anyone heard of adding a spacer to raise it up some? What could be the likely cause of this? Has anyone else experienced this situation and what did you do to resolve it and what did it cost?

Dish Anywhere Data Usage

I am thinking of using the Dish Anywhere app coupled with the Amazon Fire Stick to watch our home programming with DVR on the big screen TV in the RV. We carry an ATT hot spot with thereticly unlimited data. Problem is they slow it way down after 15 Gb. My question is how much data would be used for streaming Live HD TV for say one hour? How about standard definition?
