RE: 5th wheel hitch

Another vote for the B&W.

RE: Some thoughts on Quality

I spoke to a service manager at a dealership that sold several brands of trailers. He said he noticed quite a drop in quality over the past ten years or so. My experience is Grand Design may be a step above some of the other manufacturers. My personal experience is they provide outstanding customer service.

RE: Should We Get A New Hitch?!

Reese Revolution You could look at the Turning Point pin box or the Reese Revolution.

RE: Should We Get A New Hitch?!

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago the same thing happened to me. I wasn't paying attention and turned too sharp and lost a rear window. I still have a non sliding hitch. I've towed thousands of miles without an issue. I don't think it will happen again because I'm much more aware of my turns now. I want a hitch that isn't too heavy because I need to remove it quite often. If there is any for aft adjustment in your hitch I would move it to the most rearward position.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

gramps even if they bill you, the US turnpikes are more reasonable than the 407. I agree. I've never paid as high a toll as I have on the 407.

RE: Anyone replaced their Schwintek slide with a pulley system?

I'm not a fan of the Schwintek slide. I've spoken to RV techs that just hate working on them. A poor design in my opinion. Manufacturers use them to save weight and cost.

Thanks Mike. I plan to visit Mystic seaport. I’ll check out the Nautilus submarine. Appreciate the tips. Bob

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

Looks like Gillette Castle is closed when we're there but the grounds are open. I'll add your suggestions to our list. Thanks very much.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

Gramps: We drove in along the Mass Pike. They're supposed to have photo toll collection (like the 407) but we still haven't been billed. We found the parking payment/fare payment machines at the subway stations erratic. Thanks for the information. I took the 407 last year from the 400 to the QEW. It cost me over $100.00 one way. I hate tolls. I know they’re unavoidable going to Boston. With my luck I’ll get billed.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

If the commuter station is 2 miles from the KOA I may just take a cab. Then I won’t have to worry about parking. I have a fairly large vehicle. Thanks for your replies. Bob

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

I usually park at the Alewife station if I'm visiting Boston proper for the day. During the weekend parking there is never a problem. During the week apparently it apparently fills up with commuters fairly early; I can't really say from personal experience one way or the other. Getting to Alewife is straightforward: I-95 to MA2 inbound to the exit for Alewife Station. Payment is via kiosks accepting credit/debit cards or cash, no app needed. Sounds perfect. Thanks.

I don't want to use a phone app either. Hopefully I can figure out another way of paying. Thanks for the post.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

FULLTIMEWANABE you’ll love Newfoundland and Labrador. We were there last year. The friendliest people you will find anywhere. Lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. I know the KOA is a short drive to the train station. You could take a taxi but it’s too far to walk. Not sure if there are any campgrounds close enough to walk. Thanks for the information Crowe.

Great information. Thanks everyone for your posts. We want to do a whale watching boat tour while we're there. Any suggestions? Capt John's in both Plymouth and P'town. Thanks so much. I'll check it out.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

Two of my recommendations for your consideration are: "Old Sturbridge Village" in Sturbridge, Mass and "Battleship Cove" in Fall River, Mass. I went to their websites. Looks very interesting. I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the recommendations.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

Interested in this thread also for our trip to Boston. Which CG within walking distance (we don't have a toad) for quick transport to DT Boston? Doesn't have to be upmarket or tons of amenities just somewhere safe to sleep at night = bit like ease of access for NYC from Liberty Harbour in NJ set up would work. Thanks, FTW A few weeks ago we booked 14 days for the middle of May. We originally looked at Normandy Farms but they didn't have any full hookup sites available for that length of stay. Just a suggestion, I would book well in advance. This obviously is a busy tourist destination. Weekends are booked well in advance.

RE: Boston - Cape Cod area

Cape Cod - Provincetown is "eclectic", but is the quintessential Cape Cod town. There are a number of ocean and bay side beaches to visit. The Marconi radio station in the National Seashore park was the sight where the first trans-Atlantic telegram was sent. You can also take a scenic train ride from Hyannis that goes o the Cape Cod Canal. Plymouth is gearing up for the 400 anniversary of the Rock next year. Marthas Vineyard is a good day trip. I'd take the Island Queen from Falmouth Harbor and spend the day in Oak Bluffs. There's a couple of public beaches and the Flying Horses carousel. Newport Rhode Island and the mansion tours. I think The Breakers is the nicest one. More stuff too do in Boston than I can mention. Top of the Pru or the Hancock Tower if it's a clear day. If you're into history you can follow the stupid red line (The Freedom Trail). USS Constitution if it's open or the Constitution Museum if not. Museum or Science for older kids and the Children's museum for the young 'uns. Also the Aquarium. In Connecticut, Mystic Seaport is just 2 hours from the KOA. Lots to do in 2 weeks. You may have to come back :) Great information. I thought we wouldn’t have a problem filling in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much.
