RE: Four Dollar Per Gallon Gasoline & Diesel Has Arrived

I've always understood that it is illegal for US oil to be sold overseas.

RE: Painting Hills - John Day Fossil Beds - OR

There is a good boondocking spot on the road to Painted Hills. Its on the left, about a mile in next to the creek. There is room for several large Riggs. Its BLM land and there are a few shade trees. We camped there with about 20 other riggs to watch the solar eclipse last year.

RE: Winter MAY be ending

Must be spring, the frogs were really hooping it up last night in SE Oregon. 9 degrees F over night on a couple nights last week in a non insulated camper. BURRR.

RE: Cheap android tablets

I know nothing about these products. The “built in GPS” caught my attention. I have not seen a reference to “built in GPS” on Walmart’s site yet. Can the thing be used as mobile GPS device? What should I be looking for? Yes, a mobile GPS device. Many tablets lack an internal GPS so if that is one of your intended uses be shure to get one that has one. Once you have the tablet you download the GPS you prefer along with maps. I use Osmand+.

RE: Quaint historic towns around Washington & Oregon

Far northeast Oregon is Joseph. Lots to see and do there.

RE: Cheap android tablets

I have the RCA Viking Pro 10.1 with Android 6.0 and like it a lot. Like the built in GPS, good charging port, USB port, and of course the price.

RE: Boondocking around Parker/Havasu

You can also take Shea Rd which is just out of Parker on Hwy 95 south. Paved but rough for the first few miles. Must camp past the cattle guard to be off the reservation. Lots of sites.

RE: What tablet to by?

+1 on the RCA Viking Pro 10.1. Great bang for the buck. The one I bought a couple months ago has Android 6.0 and a built in GPS so its great for navigation. Another plus is it has a regular charging port that is much more robust than using the micro USB port, though that can also be used to charge it.

RE: Straight Talk customer service

I use a Straight talk hot spot with an Android tablet. To stop unwanted data use I logged into my Google account online and clicked on do not update apps. Makes a huge difference!

RE: Hauling our motorcycle

I had a similar homemade one that I used a few times. Towed a Vespa from California to North Carolina and back with no problems. Removing the drive chain on the bike would be necessary for any towing over a couple miles.

RE: Refrigerator gasket mess !!!

I used to be a refrigeration tech. We always used a heat gun on new door gaskets to get them to seal. A hair dryer might be hot enough.

RE: Best GPS?

Osmand as well as some other Android GPS apps do not need a cell signal to work. Once you download the maps they reside on your phone. You can plan routes, save them, edit them, get turn by turn voice directions, embed pics, videos, voice messages, etc.. All free. Plus you can choose whatever size phone or tablet screen you prefer. My whole setup cost less than $90, way cheaper than a new GPS.

RE: Best GPS?

My Nuvi died last year and I replaced it with a 10 inch Android tablet and Osmand GPS app. Way better than the Nuvi ever was.

RE: Death Valley

I've never seen Sunset campground at Furnace Creek fill up the overflow area. There has always been space there.

RE: WEN Brand Generators?

I've had such good service from my Lifan motorcycles that I bought a Lifan Energy Storm 2000 watt inverter generator. What a disappointment, I returned it and bought a Wen 1250 watt inverter generator. The little Wen is excellent! Quality is much better than the Lifan. Starts super easy, runs smooth and quiet. The Lifan engine was a 105cc clone of the Honda 2000 generator that uses a cogged belt running in oil to turn the single lobe cam. The Wen is a 60cc clone of the 50cc Yamaha engine that has a gear driven single lobe cam and pushrods.
