Thanks guys! so many good suggestions.... However, will I need to make advance reservations for any of these overnight campgrounds south of atlanta for the evening of new years eve? or is there enough options that getting one night wont be a problem? thanks!

stopping point/overnight camp between Ohio & Fort Wilderness

Leaving on New Years Eve, and heading all the way from Cincinnati, Ohio to Disney Fort Wilderness. Just shy of 1000 miles. Pulling 33' Travel trailer. Where would a good overnight campground stopping point be? Def want to get just south of Atlanta? or Maybe I could even make it to Valdosta? Is that too far to expect to make it in a day traveling with two kids? Was looking at Forsyth KOA (Forsyth Georgia) (reviews not the best but close to 75 right along route), or Atlanta South RV resort? Anyone stayed at either of these? Or have other suggestions? I appreciate it! Also, welcome any recommendations on Fort Wilderness at Disney. Our first time there....

RE: Camping around Christmas time

would you need advance reservations for macon, montgomery, savannah areas? or could you wing it and just show up in these areas?

RE: wisconsin dells? or somewhere similar

thanks for all the replies! Also the info on santa clause indiana! Any more info on the Dells keep it coming. I am suprised it would be in the 90's there with high humidity! I would think that would be far enough north for decent summer weather.

wisconsin dells? or somewhere similar

Live in Ohio, and looking for somewhere little different this year for summer vacation (end of july for a week). Been to Michigan the last several years, love it there, just want to take a break. Is the Wisconsin Dells good for kids? 5 and 2 years old? Seems summer temperatures wouldn't be too hot there, similar to Michigan. Which is the best campground there for entertainment with kids etc? Also open to any near other nearby vacation destinations. Looking to stay within 8 hours of Cincinnati, Ohio. Thanks in advance!

RE: Southern destination w kids week of New years? Where to go?

Myrtle Beach area sure would be an easier tow. Are shops, putt putt, typical entertainment type stuff open all winter there? Ladyrver- St Augustine sounds nice. lots of typical tourist type stuff going on there all winter long?

Ken56- thanks for the ideas! My kids can be easily entertained if I can find a real nice park, just trying to find that nice park in a real nice city. Thanks!

Southern destination w kids week of New years? Where to go?

Hello, I am looking for a southern destination to bring my travel trailer down during the week of New Years. Last year we stayed in Orlando, weather was awesome (low 80's), lots to do with kids (obviously w/ Disney), but this year was hoping to explore another great southern destination. Coming all the way from Cincinnati, Ohio, and only have a total of 10 days, so wouldn't want to travel any further South than Orlando. Was interested in Myrtle Beach Oceanfront campground? Or is that a complete Ghost town during early January? Interested in any other Florida destination or Carolina's, Louisiana destination that can help us escape the Northern Cold for a week. Also, is South Carolina, and North/Middle Florida a must to get reservations in advance for this time of year? Or can we wing it, and move around as we please? Was maybe thinking the snowbird crowds stay more south?

Northern Michigan advice

I am leaving for Northern Michigan, this week. We have never ventured that far north in Michigan before, and cant wait! In the past always stayed in Ludington which was beautiful. This time we are staying in Cheboygan, to be close to a friends cabin up there. Any "must see or do" type things on the north end? Traveling with kids, but they are pretty easy going, so doesn't have to be kids type entertainment. We are huge fan of small local mom and pop type places, and restaurants. Thanks in advance!

Temp monitor for when leaving dogs in RV

I know this topic has been touched on before, but is there any good devices out there that will monitor rv inside temps while dogs are left alone while we are out for the day? I always worry the campground will blow a fuse or lose power while we are out, and dogs get cooked up. Looking for something that would notify my phone in the case of power loss. I used to use "connectsense", buts its outdated and no longer works. Thanks!
