RE: black water tank treatments

I find that more times than not, the smell in the coach is from the kitchen gray tank when emptied due to rotting food particles. I now add treatment to that tank as well. What do you use? I have a really nasty smell coming up all the drains when I turn on the water.

RE: black water tank treatments

Holding tanks do not need anything and neither does septic systems, water is your best friend in both cases. Then why does my holding tank usually get plugged up when I DON'T use RidX? With RidX I see a few small pieces of TP--- 1/2" square at most--- and the liquid color is a medium to dark tan. Without RidX I see full squares of TP and the liquid color is a slightly tinted transparent tan. I have been using septic safe TP (it costs no more than regular TP). And I use lots of water.

RE: black water tank treatments

Well, I live full-time in my 32 foot Wanderer Wagon in an RV park in Arizona. I've been here a little over a year. I had issues with the tank plugging up and had to manually remove TP from the bottom of the tank. Real fun job. The guys on either side told me to use RidX and a septic safe TP. So, after getting the tank emptied, I used a box of it and IT WORKED GREAT! There is only me so I have to dump about every two weeks. I clearly notice the difference--- TP and other waste is broken down. The liquid coming out of the tank is a much different color than before RidX. Actually, I mostly use generic RidX from Dollar General as it's half the price of the brand name and works just as well.

RE: Heated hose

I live full-time (since July of last year) in my 2000 Wanderer Wagon 32-foot 5th in Eagar, AZ. Last winter the coldest night we had was 9 degrees/f. It can get colder here as it is a bit above 7000 feet, but last winter was warm one I was told, lol. We also get snow. Everyone told me (before winter got cold) to put heat tape and insulation on my fresh-water hose, ground piping, and faucet. I did but it froze anyway and also broke the faucet! Fortunately, the park's owner replaced it at no charge. I was asked if I let a faucet inside the trailer drip. I said no and they said that is why it all froze up at 18 degrees/f despite the heat tape! So, I left the kitchen faucet drip at night and no more freezes! BTW, they also said to leave the gray tank valve open else your tank may fill up. I've never heard of anyone having their slinky hose freeze up due to a faucet drip. The piping inside my rv is in the same enclosed space as my heater so no frozen hoses inside. The hose from my fresh tank is mostly outside the enclosed space and it did freeze on the two occasions I needed it---- one was the problem mentioned above and the other was when I ran out of propane in the middle of a 14 degree/f night--- it was not fun getting out of a warm bed in a 40 degree/f trailer!

RE: Registration fee for 5th wheel in AZ

Bought a 1999 Ford F-350 and a 2000 Wanderer Wagon 5th wheel 32 foot in California in March & April 2020 from private parties. Couldn't register either in Cali because DMV was closed due to Covid. Moved to Arizona at the end of April 2020. Went to the Kingman ADOT MVD & registered BOTH of them for two years for $208 TOTAL. Good luck getting a similar deal in Cali. My 1996 GMC Suburban's registration was almost $200 (and going up every year) for 2019/2020. I sold it before I moved.
