RE: Camping World/The Profit

As a past RV owner that did his homework, asked questions, read every form before signing, I'm here to say that one question I didn't think to ask was "Has there been any warranty work on the RV"? Camping Worlds profit my loss. I fought long and hard, wrote letters, made pleading phone calls and have realized that my health both physical and mental needs to rest. RV dealerships should have RVFax as do car dealers when buying a car and the consumer shouldn't have to ask for it. Warranty work is one of the money makers for dealerships I have found. Are they causing damages to an RV so that they can make their monthly quotas, so-called "trained" RV Techs causing damages for a paycheck? Don't buy, rent! I worked 35+ years in various car dealerships, that brand new car you purchased has had some warranty work done on it before delivery.

RE: Camping World Get Best Price button

So the “best price” was $79,990. Just because you don’t want to negotiate? Put on your big boy pants and offer $70. You apparently cannot read, besides, I doubt they would accept a $70 offer. ROFL

RE: Trouble with California

We don't consider inspections nonsense. Childish behavior on your part. Not childish at all, who's 'we'? You and your wife? Until they secede , Kalifornia IS part of the U.S.A.

RE: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community?

It all depends on your definition of 'socializing'. I socialize with others when I walk my dogs, 4-5 times a day. Some we've met over the years, socializing is a daily "happy hour" with their clique and this 'clique' does everything together, to include going out to dinner, movies, etc. I'm not interested in the latter, however, we have met some couples that we enjoy an occasional lunch/dinner together, but not something on a constant basis.

RE: New 5th Wheel Manufacturer

We are looking at 5th wheels that aren't any longer than 35' pin to bumper. We have looked at Pinnacle, Montana, VanLeigh and Solitude. They more or less look the same as far as floorpan, frame and axles. Is there a manufacturer you recommend we consider? We cannot afford a true top of the line coach like Spacecraft, DRV etc and they are longer than we want. So far the unit that has impressed us the most is the Solitude but that's based mainly on people we have talked with and the support they have received from Grand Design. We are still shopping and open to suggestions including used b ut not more than a few years old. Mainly I would look for fit and finish. Screws not set at an angle, trim lining up, windows and doors open and close smoothly, and not only on the interior, exterior also. Try to look past the glitter. VanLeigh is the only one you listed, not made in Indiana. Tour the factories first, if you can, I wish I had before we bought our Solitude.

RE: Trailer upgrade

You don’t indicate a need to upgrade. If money is no object...no, the thrifty people I know that are RICH don’t spend without a need. Why is the OP required to indicate a "need"? Why can't you just give your opinion on the two models indicated in the post instead of posting some sort of BS reply?

RE: Grand Design owners forum

Not sure if this has been posted before or not but there is a fairly new Grand Design owners technical forum in which GD participates. I just joined so not sure of the details but a nice gesture on part of GD I would think. https://gdrvowners.com/AboutUs There is also a different GD owners forum which has been around a while. Not supported by GD. I got booted from the supported GD forum for having the audacity to criticize the workmanship of my GD Solitude. Words like "clown" and "infinite wisdom" are grounds for banishment. I have no problems with My Grand RV Forum.

RE: It is no wonder

No wonder the forum has so few posts. Every time you want to post something. You have to prove you are alive. I'm betting many just find that some what off putting, and not worth the hassle.. BTW. Y'all can move this any where you want. Only voters have to prove they're alive, allegedly.

RE: senior pass

I'm a veteran. I never took anything from our government. Didn't use the GI Bill or a VA loan. I couldn't get into the VA. So now I get a discount on camping and free entrance into National Parks. How about our government stop spending billions on illegals. How about congress cut their own pay and benefits? How about cutting back on welfare? Those of us who worked our butts off, stayed out of troubleand served our country deserve a break. Thank You for your service. I too am a Veteran. IMO, the only Vets who "deserve a break" are the draftees, the rest of us "volunteered".

RE: senior pass

I would be OK with using my pass only on weekdays in very high-use parks. In fact, I usually avoid public campgrounds on weekends anyway. I'm retired and I play golf. I play during the week. Prior to retirement, my golf was limited to week-ends, and it drove me crazy to get behind a foursome of retired duffers holding up play who could have easily played during the week. I'm also a "senior citizen" and I get embarrassed when I'm in a group and someone demands a discount they think they "paid for".

RE: Help with full timing over the winter

Before giving advice I'd like to know what was wrong with Florida. My problem with Florida. Florida is where old people go to visit their parents.

RE: RGV ten year trend

We winter in the Rockport TX area, and have, for the last three years. We don't escape the winters of north central Minnesota because we need to be entertained. Sometimes, sitting on a lawn chair, beverge in hand, in mid January without a parka is enough for me. BTW, our park is full, November 1 through April.

RE: Slide Out Making Banging Sound

I had a like noise from my slide out. My noise was caused from left over construction junk tangled up in the slide mechanism. Wonderful quality control.

RE: RV Fatality in Oklahoma

People die every day on the roadways for a wide variety of reasons; speeding, alcohol, texting, road rage, etc. While tragic, what makes this one so special? Do we need to set up a new forum "road deaths" so everyone can read about all the traffic incidents? I guess it escaped you that it was RV related on a RV forum, smh

RE: Looking into a 2017 Grand Design

I had a 2017 Reflecrion 307MKS and currently have a 2019 Solitude S-Class 2930RL. The only issue I had with the Reflection were leaky axle seals, a known LCI issue and was fixed under warranty. The Solitude is a different story and rather than go into the gory details, I will say this, IMO, a manufacturer is only as good as the servicing dealers who represent them.

RE: Getting 5th wheel front cap clean without access to a hose

If I'm in a campground that does not allow washing, and the front cap is full of bugs, I use a foaming all survace cleaner. It might be labor intensive, but the foam softens up the bugs and crud and usually wipe off with a soft cloth. Meguires makes a wash/wax, it's not cheap and dosen't do as well on softening up the bugs. Between barley breaks, I can do the complete front cap in about an hour or two.

RE: Locks on Propane tanks?

Propane Compartment doors are NOT suppose to be locked (easy access to service valves if needed)Just about every fifth wheel has propane in the lockable front compartment or lockable side compartments. I see no reason for public access. I've owned a half dozen 5ers over the years and not one came with a lockable propane compartment. One could easily modify to a lock if they wanted to do so.

RE: Slides out / level

Unhooking and using slides at a Walmart is generally poor form. OP never said they were going to unhook.
