RE: Website Down?

Is a “fix” in order or is the changing information a difficult challenge to post for...someone? ?????????????????????

RE: Anyone seen a Van Leigh???

No better, no worse than other 5er's in the same price range.

Website Down?

Someone needs to fix the Coast to Coast website. Unable to check availability of parks, cannot check available trip points, etc, etc, etc

RE: Heading Home (North)

Wash your hands after pumping fuel, the handles on gas pumps are almost never cleaned! I wear gloves, I always have.

RE: Heading Home (North)

Wouldn't hurt to try and stock up on the way home. You never know whats waiting for you. A class B wouldn't allow much room for "stocking up"

RE: Coronavirus practical issues

Please, enough. The panic being perpetrated by many on this Forum and elsewhere, is becomming worse than the virus itself. Panic purchases, hoarding, create shortages. Case in point, you may be hard pressed to find hand sanitizer at your local Wal-Mart. Use of common sense seems to be lacking.

RE: Montana vs. Arctic Fox vs. Grand Design

We have a 2017 Grand Design Reflection 27RL. It was great for the first year and then things really took a turn south. Replaced Dometic AC after 13 months. Yup 1 month out of Dometic Warranty. Replaced entry lock. Entire frame is covered in surface rust almost as if painted with nothing. I'm waiting on a response now from Lippert. Replaced circuit board on hot water tank. Grand Designs response on all but door lock. Contact manufacture of component its not our problem. We don't offer a warranty on rust. The last phone call with Grand Design the gentleman I spoke with basically called me a liar saying I never reported any of these issues. I told him that Grand Design should consider better quality components and he laughed. Grand Design DOES NOT offer the same customer service as before being acquired by Winnebago. It is dramatically worse. We may have got a lemon I don't know but I won't be singing the praises of Grand Design. Dave X2 We purchased a 2930RL in Sept of 2019. Not impressed with the "workmanship" that you find when you explore a problem. I will never purchase a "new" RV again.

RE: Good Sam trip planner

I don't know why you all are wasting your time with this trip planner. There is no evidence there will be any more enhancements, besides, there are other trip planners out there that are far superior to this one. I used the previous version religiously, but this is garbage.

RE: Camping World/The Profit

As a past RV owner that did his homework, asked questions, read every form before signing, I'm here to say that one question I didn't think to ask was "Has there been any warranty work on the RV"? Camping Worlds profit my loss. I fought long and hard, wrote letters, made pleading phone calls and have realized that my health both physical and mental needs to rest. RV dealerships should have RVFax as do car dealers when buying a car and the consumer shouldn't have to ask for it. Warranty work is one of the money makers for dealerships I have found. Are they causing damages to an RV so that they can make their monthly quotas, so-called "trained" RV Techs causing damages for a paycheck? Don't buy, rent! I worked 35+ years in various car dealerships, that brand new car you purchased has had some warranty work done on it before delivery.

RE: Camping World Get Best Price button

So the “best price” was $79,990. Just because you don’t want to negotiate? Put on your big boy pants and offer $70. You apparently cannot read, besides, I doubt they would accept a $70 offer. ROFL

RE: Trouble with California

We don't consider inspections nonsense. Childish behavior on your part. Not childish at all, who's 'we'? You and your wife? Until they secede , Kalifornia IS part of the U.S.A.

RE: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community?

It all depends on your definition of 'socializing'. I socialize with others when I walk my dogs, 4-5 times a day. Some we've met over the years, socializing is a daily "happy hour" with their clique and this 'clique' does everything together, to include going out to dinner, movies, etc. I'm not interested in the latter, however, we have met some couples that we enjoy an occasional lunch/dinner together, but not something on a constant basis.

RE: New 5th Wheel Manufacturer

We are looking at 5th wheels that aren't any longer than 35' pin to bumper. We have looked at Pinnacle, Montana, VanLeigh and Solitude. They more or less look the same as far as floorpan, frame and axles. Is there a manufacturer you recommend we consider? We cannot afford a true top of the line coach like Spacecraft, DRV etc and they are longer than we want. So far the unit that has impressed us the most is the Solitude but that's based mainly on people we have talked with and the support they have received from Grand Design. We are still shopping and open to suggestions including used b ut not more than a few years old. Mainly I would look for fit and finish. Screws not set at an angle, trim lining up, windows and doors open and close smoothly, and not only on the interior, exterior also. Try to look past the glitter. VanLeigh is the only one you listed, not made in Indiana. Tour the factories first, if you can, I wish I had before we bought our Solitude.

RE: Trailer upgrade

You don’t indicate a need to upgrade. If money is no object...no, the thrifty people I know that are RICH don’t spend without a need. Why is the OP required to indicate a "need"? Why can't you just give your opinion on the two models indicated in the post instead of posting some sort of BS reply?

RE: Grand Design owners forum

Not sure if this has been posted before or not but there is a fairly new Grand Design owners technical forum in which GD participates. I just joined so not sure of the details but a nice gesture on part of GD I would think. https://gdrvowners.com/AboutUs There is also a different GD owners forum which has been around a while. Not supported by GD. I got booted from the supported GD forum for having the audacity to criticize the workmanship of my GD Solitude. Words like "clown" and "infinite wisdom" are grounds for banishment. I have no problems with My Grand RV Forum.

RE: It is no wonder

No wonder the forum has so few posts. Every time you want to post something. You have to prove you are alive. I'm betting many just find that some what off putting, and not worth the hassle.. BTW. Y'all can move this any where you want. Only voters have to prove they're alive, allegedly.

RE: senior pass

I'm a veteran. I never took anything from our government. Didn't use the GI Bill or a VA loan. I couldn't get into the VA. So now I get a discount on camping and free entrance into National Parks. How about our government stop spending billions on illegals. How about congress cut their own pay and benefits? How about cutting back on welfare? Those of us who worked our butts off, stayed out of troubleand served our country deserve a break. Thank You for your service. I too am a Veteran. IMO, the only Vets who "deserve a break" are the draftees, the rest of us "volunteered".

RE: senior pass

I would be OK with using my pass only on weekdays in very high-use parks. In fact, I usually avoid public campgrounds on weekends anyway. I'm retired and I play golf. I play during the week. Prior to retirement, my golf was limited to week-ends, and it drove me crazy to get behind a foursome of retired duffers holding up play who could have easily played during the week. I'm also a "senior citizen" and I get embarrassed when I'm in a group and someone demands a discount they think they "paid for".
