RE: RV Weather Station

OK... You need several feet above a structure for your temp sensor to be reasonable, and it should be in the shade. Every day I see on the internet a sensor that's obviously in full sun making it useless. An anemometer should be really high. Most home units are not, rendering their readings irrelevent. On the back of my unit at 14 feet, blocked by trees and another unit; not much point to it. If I was a 1/3 mile down at the lakefront it would be tremendously different. So put your temp sensor in the shade and be happy.

RE: Ants

Alabama and MIssippi ants fall from the trees. Trust me on this.

I vaguely recall reading that some rubber weather seals smells (to them) like rotting carcass.

RE: Flow pur water softener not working

Rinse after regen is on the ground (or drain) at a controlled slow rate, then output is switched to coach. If coach water is salty then rinse is being done into the same coach output. While it would "work," salt water into the coach is undesirable. Done properly you'd have a detectable salt level in the coach for a short time but probably wouldn't taste it. The procedure is to add salt to the unit and let it sit there under pressure for an hour or more. Then rinse (onto the ground) for a half hour. Using Softcheck strips I've never gotten total hardness below 25ppm but that's lots better than untreated water.
