RE: Dometic RM1350 fridge works on gas not AC

Today I ran all of the tests and checked all of the things that connect to the board and all were good. With a helper I checked that the upper boards were signaling the lower to start the AC mode. I decided to pot in a spare new board just in case the replacements were bad but it still did not run. AC into the board but none out. I'll can dino and dometic tomorrow.

RE: Dometic RM1350 fridge works on gas not AC

A recurring problem would not be a circuit board. It could be an element or connection on the output of the circuit board to the element. I would call Dinosaur as they have some good people that could help with diagnosis. I am going to do that then. Thanks. It did not occur to me that they might help out someone who didn't buy something. Good people! I'll let you know how I make out.

RE: Need a forum that specializes in RV frige repair (Dometic)

The Dometic Absorption Fridge (And the norcold) for the most part there are only 4 or 5 repairs I will list them Dirty fins (Had that but not totaled) blow air DOWN from the top to clean if you can't get to 'em any other way.. NOTE External fans cause this (Per my Technician) 2: Burner maintenance... Described in many manuals including the one Dometic prints. 3: Electric heat element replacement. 4: Electronic issue (Control board, includes blown fuse and bad wiring) 5: OUCH: Cooling unit failure (JUST put in a new cooling unit) Have that done by a pro. Two reasons. one is warranty on the cooling unit (If you put it in yourself 100% they will say "Bad install") 2: Well I've assisted said pro and I still don't want to do it. Fins good Done the burner, boiler and stack maintenance Element resistance checked and good and I am actually testing it by connecting directly to AC and it works. Does not work through board. Fuses on board good and board is new.

I would call Dinosaur Electronics. I did not find your model or board listened. They may have what you need. They have very exceptional replacement products. I had wanted to get a Dinosaur but couldn't find it on the list. If I decide I need to replace it a fourth time I will call Dinosaur first.

Watch the videos on RV Refrigeration you’ll know as much as a typical tech. I have to say that that guy actually knows what he is talking about! If you look at the vid on Bypassing the board that is exactly what I did the day before. It took me a week to figure out that I could. Recommended reading for sure and If I ever get up that way I'll pay him to fix it! Thanks

RE: Dometic RM1350 fridge works on gas not AC

It could be a bad main circuit board 120 volt AC relay. Did you check for 120 volts coming out of the circuit board? Look for the Dometic number on the circuit board where the element connects. Then post the number! Dometic 3851005029 Power Module https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T36SK6I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That is what I thought too! 2 different techs told me it must be the board too. I replaced it three times now without any results. What would make it not work with a new board? That is what I wonder. Too bad there isn't a Dinosaur board to fit.

Dometic RM1350 fridge works on gas not AC

Hi This one is driving me nuts and that's not a long drive these days!!! We bought a new to us DP a few months ago. Not long after an outlet shorted violently and took out many of the electronics including inverter jacks and the fridge. The Dometic RM1350 4 door did work when we got it except for the auto door locks which had been disabled. After the meltdown the fridge did not work at all. We had the mobile tech that fixed the electrical problem check the fridge. He said it needed a board and since we were leaving on vacation he suggested we should replace the board. No improvement When we got to our destination we got a tech to come and look at it. He said he would come back with and a igniter and he showed me that it was not sparking. He would bring a new board too just in case. His office then called and said that the parts weren't available and they would not be returning. I ordered an igniter and a spare board and replacing the igniter made the gas work. I replaced the switch board up top and the LED board because I wasn't sure I was getting the tests right. That did not do it. I tested the wire harness between the boards. I checked the DC input to the lower board. I checked for AC at the outlets and at the lugs supplying the lower board. I checked the thermistor in the stack. I checked the heating element for correct resistance. I checked the 3a, 5a and AC fuse.I checked the ends of the cables for bent pins of bad connections. The service manual says that if there is DC coming from the upper board on the orange, green and black wires and there is AC at terminals J5 and J6 but no AC going to the heaters on J6 and J7 the board must be replaced because it is not seeing AV coming in. I replaced the board again. Still no change. I am in the process of checking every item and connections for continuity or power and am trying to learn enough about the electronics to understand it. I am certain that either there is something that causes the lower board to shut down the AC, perhaps a safety or there is something that damages every board that I put in. Has anyone had experience with this situation or know of anything that would cause it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. These parts are not necessary but might be interesting. Stop here if bored. I have just now made jumpers to connect the AC directly to the heaters. If I shut off the gas and the igniter it will work on AC. The cooling in this fridge is very weak to begin with and, here in the Keys it cannot get the temps below 38f fridge/5f freezer overnight with an outdoor low of 80f. I can't use this up North because it might get too cold though and damage something.I still have to get it fixed. This is just temporary. I had removed this fridge from the slide to do an annual maintenance including cleaning the flue and replacing the baffle. The burner was cleaned and better fans installed on the back. The fan thermostat was changed and the thermistor above the burner was tested. I corrected a terrible install by adding rigid insulation where the gaps had allowed heat around and above the fridge. I taped large gaps in the outer shell of the fridge.

Need a forum that specializes in RV frige repair (Dometic)

I need a forum or board that specializes in RV refrigerator repair (Dometic if possible). I have found this kind of forum for AirCon (Air condition.com) and Onan Generators) (Smokestack) when I had problems beyond anything available here. Now I need to learn about my Dometic fridge. Can anyone suggest one? Thanks

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

Here is what the problem was. I hired a pro. There was an outlet in a basement bin. It looked good. I could not test it because there was no power to do it and being modern it could not be reset without power. The screw s that held it's box to the front wall were behind the front wheel. They rusted and let water into the box. The outlet fried inside the bow and damaged the wires that had already corroded inside the conduit. When that happened it took out the inverter, blew the 300a inverter fuse and damaged the fuse holder. It took a while to find all of that.

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

I would start at the GFCI outlet, confirm power to the outlet, it may have been wired so the single GFCI protected all outlets on the circuit, and if that GFCI were faulty, all outlets after it would be dead. Good Luck. That GFI outlet has no power to it. It was on one end of the "daisy chain" and only connected with a single pair of wires. It could not have functioned as a GFI where it was since it was on the far end of the chain from where I assume the feed is.

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

I checked for continuity between the dead outlets to see if they were connected to each other. (they are)Did you check continuity back to the breaker? Did you check the outdoor outlet? Fridge outlet? Storage compartment? Transfer switch on the inverter? Yes. 1 fridge outlet has power, one does not. Inverter has automatic transfer and I wondered if it was bad. I will check the 120v outputs on it and get back.

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

Outlets are usually daisy-chain wired off the GFI breaker. Open breaker, pull the GFI out of the wall and inspect it. Check wiring connections. If nothing observable, isolate the GFI from all other outlets by removing those daisychained wires, power it up and check to see if it's working right. Continue on to each outlet until it's isolated. It's ether the breaker or the GFI if you want to just shotgun it. Thanks. Will check. Makes sense.

You need a circuit tracer. Like this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sperry-Lan-WireTracker-Tone-and-Probe-Wire-Tracer-ET64220/202520187 Hook one part to DEAD wires and the other will 'sing' when near the wire. Works well through plastic tubing and thin wall panels! Nice! I will get one ASAP.

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

Question: DO YOU HAVE AN INVERTER? Many RV's with an inverter the TV and the Bedroom/ GFCI circuits are powered by the inverter... Inverter will either have circuit breakers or a sub panel (2nd breaker box) somewhere. Some "Inline" inverters. OFF they pass 120vac Some .. OFF. they pass nothing Breakers on inverter on. Interesting thought. So I could have an inverter problem.

RE: Need wiring diagram and help

I had a 2009 National SurfSide 34' Class'A'. U'r symptoms sound familiar. My problem was always caused by the 'Automatic Transfer switch RELAY. This switch, in my rig, was nothing more than a large multipin plug in type relay with a see thru plastic top. It was located in a gray metal electrical box in one of my left side, outside storage bins. U'r fire in the dashboard sounds like a separate issue, probably an idiot rewired the GFI circuits. ++ on the idiot theory. Ours is a 2008 National Tropical. No transfer switch. I have to unplug from shore and then plug into a generator outlet in the compartment. I plan to get a transfer switch.

Need wiring diagram and help

We recently bought a 2008 National Tropical 33'. I am trying to fix a problem with the electrical outlets. I need an electrical diagram showing the 120 wiring and outlets. There are 2 breakers that control 120 outlets. One is for bath, dinette and galley. They all work. The other says Bedroom GFI 3. The three in the bedroom do not work. Neither do the 2 for the TV's, the passenger seat outlet or the the outlet on the dash (with a GFI reset.) Right after we got it home I pressed the button to connect the inverter and the outlet on the dash caught fire. It apparently had been replaced before. The inverter does work properly. Here is what I checked I checked every other outlet in the RV to see if there was another GFI circuit or others that were out. I checked for power coming out of the breaker (yes) then for continuity between the breaker and all of the outlets that did not work.(no). I checked for continuity between the dead outlets and another breaker to see if they might be on another breaker. (no) I pulled all of the outlets from the wall and checked to see if they were connected properly.(yes) I checked for continuity between the dead outlets to see if they were connected to each other. (they are) I think that perhaps there is a wire loose or burnt somewhere under the RV. It is possible that it happened when the dashboard GFI outlet caught fire. Or possibly the dashboard outlet was a separate problem. Not sure. If this was in our house or older RV I would follow the wire from the breaker where it goes through the floor and find out where it is not connected and then repair any problem areas but on this RV all wires are inside black corrugated tubes and those are often encased in black foam. There are so many cables that go through the floor that there is now way to even start looking. If I had a diagram I could at least know where to look. Is there a place to get those things? Thanks
