Transfer switch

2013 Itasca Ellipse on our second replacement of the transfer switch. The first one had melted wires on the output from the main relay and this second one had melted wires from the AC input. It means I better check for loose or corroded terminals more often.

electrical short in passenger chair

2013 Itasca Ellipse kicks the crt breaker for power chairs. Disconnect plug for passenger chair and no more kicking the breaker. Question - how do I remove the panels of the chair to get to the wiring? Cannot raise the foot rest with no power and the side panels are held on by wing nuts which I cannot reach unless I rip and distort the panels. The chair can rotate 180 degrees but we have never used that feature so no problems with wires twisting.

RE: USA RV Park in NM

We always stay there on our trip to California. They give Veteran discount and it is a great base for all of the surrounding sites.

RE: Do I need a surge protector?

My 2013 Itasca Ellipse has the factory protector but I still use a surge protector. The price is small compared to the damage that can occur.

RE: blue ox tow bar loose

Order the kit from blue ox consisting of the spacers and new locking nuts. May want to order the rubber boot covers also.

RE: 3 battery banks. Is it necesary?

My Alfa had the 6 batteries in the front and the control electrical components under the steps. There is a main fuse for the batteries in the front drivers side. The setup worked for me. If you have to replace batteries get the sealed no maintenance ones and just change the settings for charge.

RV show

Went to the West Palm Beach RV show today. I was totally shocked at the poor quality of the units there. There were many people including young kids going in and out but the problems were missing panels, loose or missing hardware, doors that did not close. The most expensive motor home was the Dutch star. I toured the Newmar factory and this unit should not have passed the final inspection.

RE: Attention to detail is the exception and not the rule!

We go back to the dealer that we bought our RV from because they take us sooner than 3 months that other dealers quote. Knowing the people and staying in constant contact ( being a pain) is important. Do not accept poor service!

RE: slide out seals

Depends on your RV. Mine is 43 ft. and I ordered the seals from Winnebago. Side seals are easy but you have to remove the top cover so I had someone do that. A few hundred $'s for the seals.

RE: Natchez Trace Parkway

We did the Trace with our 43 ft. motorhome towing a car. Many places to get off and camp. Follow the battlefields and history of the area. We ended up in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. before heading west to Cal.

RE: Quilting in Yuma?

My wife said to find a quilt store and they can fill all of your needs. I've spend many hours waiting for her in quilt stores and customers give the greatest advice. Just don't say " what are you going to do with this material, you have too much now".

RE: rv insurance

We are in south Florida so many companies do not cover us for house, cars and RV. We check all insurance companies and have different policies for home cars and RV. Go online and get quotes.

RE: Freightliner Airbag replaced. Now not level

On my Alfa 36 foot RV they moved one rear valve to the front. 2 on front and 1 on rear. Had my Itasca Ellipse at Freightliner in S.C. this year for front end alignment and the right front is still higher than the left. It causes no steering or driving problems.
