Hanging pictures

We tried hanging some pictures with 3M command strips which worked for several months, but eventually the pictures fell off the wall. We think the command strip didn't work well with the textured wallpaper in the 5er. Do you all know of a better way of hanging pictures in the RV?

Wine Country north of San Francisco

Can anyone recommend some nice wineries out in the country north of San Francisco? We don't know that area at all. On this trip we'll see the giant General Sherman Sequoia tree, Yosemite NP, San Francisco and north of there some. Not sure how far we'll go north of that area yet. DW wants to see the wine country and take a tour or two.

RE: General Sherman Giant Tree

I guess we'll have to keep an eye on the weather as we near the giant tree. I do what to see the whole tree and stand in the vicinity of many similar trees etc. Due to the fires we have decided to take this trip in Sept. of 22. So we have plenty of time to plan. Thanks for the help with that.

RV campgrounds near Yosemite NP

Does anyone know of campgrounds near Yosemite, but outside of the park that have full hook ups?

RE: General Sherman Giant Tree

Thanks everyone for the many good ideas. We have as much time as we need to do this trip right and see what is there to see. I really appreciate your ideas so far. We might not make it out that way again so we'd prefer to see it all on this trip, or at least most of it. We are open to any type of camping, have a generator and can boondock, but the wife prefers RV parks. However, she has liked state parks too.

RE: 2016-2021 with Island Kitchen floor plans

We have a Grand Design Solitude 369RL with island and pantry and can get to the refrigerator with the slides in. In addition, this is the best trailer and Grand Design offers the best service we have ever had. Good luck. Hope you find a good one.

General Sherman Giant Tree

In about a month we'll be leaving MN and heading to the General Sherman giant Sequoia tree in California. Our route will travel south out of MN on I35 until we intersect I80 in Iowa where we'll head west on I80. We'll travel west to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado near Alamosa. Next we'll head west to drive through Monument Valley in Utah and head south to the Grand Canyon in AZ. The route is flexible. Please advise us on places to camp along the way, RV parks, campgrounds etc. and things to see and do. After visiting the giant tree we'll head for the wine country north of San Francisco. All of your recommendations will be carefully considered. Thank you.

RE: Grand Design Quality

We have a 2014 Grand Design Solitude 369RL. We like it very much. Two years ago we took the trailer to the factory for some work on the bedroom slide. While the trailer was at the factory they did an inspection of the trailer and found out that the kitchen slide had issues too. Then they said something magical: they said, if we would bring the trailer back down to them and leave it for a couple weeks, they would repair the kitchen slide for FREE. They explained that the problem with the kitchen slide was the result of their design flaw. At that point in time the trailer was 4 years out of warranty. They took out the kitchen slide, all the furniture in the trailer, the kitchen island, all the cabinets that were sitting on the floor and then they took out the entire floor. Once the floor was out they welded 39 braces in strategic places and put it all back together again, new flooring, new carpet etc. And charged us nothing. That is Grand Design service. The trailer is like new.

What to you all recommend for holding the living room TV solid and strong in a Solitude 5er?

Hauling bicycles

What brands/models of cover do you all recommend for protecting bicycles while carrying them on the back of the 5er?

Water hook up Solitude 369RL

First day of first trip of the season and the water doesn't work. Water from the spigot works, water from the hose works, attach the hose to the trailer and no water in the trailer. On the water valve there are only two possible options, city water hook-up and normal. Neither one produces water in the trailer. What else could I be doing wrong?

Raising our 5er

Our 5th wheel rides about 2 inches high in the front. We checked into lowering our 2017 F350 DRW truck, but we can't do that. So, now we are considering raising our 2014 Grand Design Solitude 5th wheel trailer. Have any of you done such a thing to your 5er? What are the pros and cons, dangers, pitfalls etc.

RE: Utah National Parks and Monuments.

Wonderful information, thank you. Based on what you all said, a couple questions popped up: Do we need reservations to get into the parks? We already have reservations at RV parks which are located very near the National Parks. We were thinking we could just drive the truck to see the parks during the day and return to the RV at the end of the day. We might also rent a motorcycle to tour the parks on, not sure on that idea yet.

Utah National Parks and Monuments.

Usually we winter on the Texas gulf coast, but due to Covid19, this winter, we are staying home in Minnesota. Provided, we receive vaccinations by mid-April we will be heading out to Utah for about three weeks. We will tour each national park and most of the monuments. Just wondering if some of you, who have already been there, might have some suggestions : must see items etc. We'd love to read about whatever information you want to share. Every comment will help us deal with the cabin fever that is setting in. Thank you.

Electric bikes.

We recently purchased a couple of folding Rize mini-bikes. Soon we'll travel with them and I'm wondering if people are who have electric bikes do anything extra to secure them. I'm assuming that electric bikes are a higher theft item than regular bikes. Thanks for any and all of your ideas.

RE: General 5th Wheel Brand Question

You are looking at a couple nice brands there. Grand Design Solitude is another of similar quality.

RE: RV Furnature ???

We replaced our couch and recliners at Slumberland. They have the best hide-a-bed ever. and the reliners are nice too.

RE: Replacing furnature

We had the same problem with the furniture in our Solitude. We opted to replace it with cloth furniture. One day we decided to just go to every furniture store until we found something we liked and that would fit in the trailer 28 inch wide door. It took some time, but we found both recliners and the best ever hide-a-bed couch at Slumberland. We have no attachment what so ever with Slumberland, but enjoy their furniture. We are very happy with that decision. Hope you have similar luck.
