RE: Grand Design Solitude vs Solitude s class

I heard that Solitude S uses electric leveling and regular Solitude uses hydraulic. There are other differences too I'm sure.

RE: 2012 6.7 Diesel

Thanks, everyone. I enjoyed reading all of your comments. However, I was hoping to learn about diesel engines so I could feel more comfortable using and maintaining them. Well, I did learn more than I expected and now, I don't even want a diesel. I'll stick with my problem-free V10 gas and just go slow on the hills.

2012 6.7 Diesel

I'm looking to buy a 2012 f350 super duty 6.7 TD CC LB 4X4. I'll be pulling a 12,500 lb. 5th wheel trailer. My question is how many miles is too many for this truck? I'm new to diesels and from what I've heard diesels last longer than gas engines, but with no personal experience, I need some help from you diesel experts. If you were buying this truck how many miles would cause you to shy away from the truck?

RE: Furnace problems

Our 5er has 2 AC units and one furnace. It also has one Dometic thermostat that operates two zones or areas in the trailer. Zone one is the bedroom. Zone two is the living area. To set the thermostat, step one is to select the zone, then select AC, furnace, fan only, fan speed or off. Then set the desired temperature. Zone two is the living area. Use same technique to set thermostat. We should be able to set zone two to furnace only and heat should come out of appropriate vents in the living area. What actually happens is heat comes out of vents in bedroom and bathroom, but NONE comes out of the vents in the living area. And the AC unit in the living area comes on, which should not happen.

Furnace problems

Our 2014 Solitude 369RL has a two zone Dometic heating/cooling system. The AC works as it should, one zone at a time or both zones together. The furnace is only available in the living area per the thermostat, but what really happens is heat comes out of the appropriate vents in the bedroom and bathroom, but no heat comes out in the living area. However, the AC unit in the living area comes on and blows room temperature air. We are trying to figure out how to get heat to come out of the living area vents and the living area AC to be off.

RV Rallys

Do any of you snowbirds attend Rallys during the snowbirds months? Or know where we could get a list of Rallys that are held during those months?

Rally to Rally to Rally etc.

Do any of you travel from Rally to Rally and let the Rally's and their location dictate where you go and how long you stay etc.?

RE: Disinfecting water lines

Okay thanks BUT. So if I take my black hose and hook it to the fresh water spigot at my campsite and hook THE OTHER END to the black tank sanitizer on my trailer and flush the black tank, then, in that event, the next guy to camp in this camp site, who hooks up his white fresh water hose to the fresh water spigot will have no ill effects. RIGHT?

Disinfecting water lines

Are there issues using a fresh water source and a fresh water hose to flush the black tank in a Solitude 369RL? Do we need to be concerned about any bacteria going from the black tank itself up to the connection point of the garden hose that we use? We don't really want to do this at a dump station.

How to watch the Minnesota Vikings

What do I need to be able to watch the Minnesota Vikings no matter where we are parked?

WiFi, and Cell Phone boosters and Internet antennas

Last winter we spent 6 months in our 5er. We had a great time except for technology. Seems we were constantly struggling to keep our systems going at all times. Today I was looking at Winegard products and it seems they have an antenna for everything. I'm not the least bit gifted at working with technology, but I'd like to improve our ability to use WIFI, cell phones and the internet. Please recommend systems, antennas etc. that you have put together for making this technology work better when you are on the road.

RE: Dish newbie

Turns out our satellite system on our 5er is for a direct tv system. We want a dish system in our house and trailer. Winegard says we can make our Travler to be Dish compatible by adding RP-SK21 and RP-SK11 parts. We are leaving this Sunday on a 7 week trip to DC and we were hoping to get Dish up and working before we left, but that isn't going to happen. Thanks for your help.

Dish newbie

We recently bought a used 5er with a dish mounted on the roof. This dish folds up for traveling. I know nothing about this system, but just recently subscribed to the dish network. This coming Wednesday morning the dish people will come out and install the system on our house and show us how to use it on the trailer. What are the odds the installer will know how to work the dish on the 5er? Will they have a manual they will leave with us etc.? Are there any specific questions I should ask?

RE: Lippert 6 point hydraulic landing gear.

This is just what I needed. Thanks everyone.

Lippert 6 point hydraulic landing gear.

When we use the auto level feature on our 5er everything seems to work as designed, however when the leveling is complete the trailer is not quite level. It is just off a little bit when checked with an actual 4' level. Is there a way to adjust the auto level operation? Can most anyone do this type of adjustment or should I just take it to the dealer? I usually do my own maintenance, but I'm unfamiliar with this system.

RE: Bedroom Slide Solitude 369RL

Thanks guys. I used Duct tape, but Liquid nails or Eternabond tape is probably better.

Bedroom Slide Solitude 369RL

The rollers on the bottom of the bedroom slide are cutting into the floor.Does anyone know how thick the floor is? I'm trying to attach some sheet metal strips to the bottom of the floor, where the slide rollers make contact with the floor. I tried to use wood screws to hold the sheet metal to the bottom of the slide floor, but the wood wouldn't hold a screw. It just disintegrated where the screw was.
