Electrical Question

On my last trip this year, when I got to the campground, I noticed my C02 alarm chirping. I had already plugged in to shore power when I noticed it. Thought nothing of it. I got home, plugged in, and same thing. Again, wasn't sure why that was happening. Went out yesterday to move the trailer for winter storage. Hooked up to my truck, plugged into my truck, and no power in unit to raise the landing gear. I re-plugged into shore power and landing gear raised with no problem. (also, noticed c02 alarm chirping again.) Could this be because of a dead battery? Was thinking last night and it is the original battery that came with the unit. Any help is appreciated!

RE: Hooking up Fifth Wheel

If you do have trouble unhitching, try putting your tv in nuetral and keeping the trailer brake engaged. I never have trouble hitching, but at times when not level, unhitching can be problomatic.

RE: ATC 5th Wheel MSRP vs Purchase Price

Take the make and model number. Just do a simple internet search on it. You will find the prices all over the place for the same model. It's crazy!

RE: Recent Good Sam Roadside Assistance Experience

MDKMDK, I disagree they would try to get you to a safe location first. A couple years ago, I had a tire snap all the lug nuts on a tire and fly off my 5th wheel. I called and they asked if I was in a safe location. I told them definatly not! I was just outside of New Haven CT, 0730 (Rush Hour), where the highway went from 4 lanes down to 3. GS told me I had to get the unit to a safe place. Not them! They suggested I chain the axle with the missing tire up before I tried to move the trailer. Don't know about your mechanical ability, but way above my paygrade! I was lucky that a Conn Highway Dept safety assist vehicle with the employee of the year showed up to get us out of that very dangerous location.

RE: Help a Newbie, question about gas vs. diesel

I pulled a 10K 5th wheel with a 2012 F250 gasser for 2 years. Upgraded to a 2017 F350 diesel and will never look back! The F250 had air bags in it, but it was outright scarey whenever we went over a bridge. Both units woulds start to porpoise. Up hills, it would wind in lower gears. Once pulling with the 350, it all went away!

RE: Bangor ME to Franconia NH to Freeport ME

Rte 2 isn't the best route for an RV. But your only other choice is to go all the way down 95, take 101 over to 93, then north on 93. Obviously longer, but much friendlier when pulling a trailer, especially a bigger one.

RE: Basic 5th wheel towing questions.

Just a quick point about the 150-250 ride versus the 350-450. I first started towing our 11k pound 5th wheel with a F250 with air bags. It pulled alright, but when we went over some bridges at highway speeds, both units would start to porpus. A few times at scary points. Switched to a f350 dually, not a problem now....

RE: Tire Pressure Accuracy

I have a digital tire pressure guage and it's always about 4 pounds different from the tpms.

RE: TST 507 tire monitor system

2-3 years also. So I replace all of them at the same time, every 2 seasons.

RE: Goodyear Endurance Tire Pressure

Keep the High Temp alarm. That is one of the indicators to an impending blow out.Didn't see anyone else mention it to you, but make sure you have metel valve stems put on your tires. The weight of the sensor will tear up your rubber stems. As said before, 80psi cold, the rising temp is normal when moving.

RE: NC to Maine Road Trip

While going through main, we love Wells Beach. There are a number of campgrounds, we like Sea Vu and Sea Vu West. Great places to eat. Right in between Kennybunkport (home of the Bush's) and Ogunquit. There is a trolly that runs by both campgrounds, $1 to ride, $3 to go all the way to Ogunquit.

Need a lift for my 5th wheel hitch

Ok, I'm finally admitting it. At age 59, I need a lift for my 5th wheel hitch. Wrenched my back lifting it into the back of the truck this week. Anybody have suggestions? Reasonably priced I hope.....

RE: 2016 F250 tranny

I had a 2012 f250 which I believe had the same tranny. It was always downshifting and screaming high rpm's when towing. I used to get concerned on some of the long incline's I pulled on. Bought a 2017 diesel dually f350 and found it a totally different pulling experience.....

RE: pickup bed tent

When we were down in the Outer Banks a couple years ago, there was a truck close to us where the guy had pretty much made his own bed tent. Put an air mattress in the bed, set up an easy up over the back, attached sides to it, had lighting on the frame of the easy up along with other accessories. Was pretty cool.
