RE: Back up camera recommendations?

I bought an inexpensive "Amtifo" camera/monitor from Amazon; wired the camera from that set into the back of our TT, but then added a second camera to the back of our popup truck camper. It paired right up with the monitor, and when wired to the running lights, gave us a nice clear color view of what was going on behind us. Thanks for the review, I went ahead and grabbed one of these for $139, figure its cheap enough that if it doesn't work I am not out a ton of money. The TC is in winter storage but might just install it this weekend to test it out. The old voyager one never did work right and was a pain with the cord.

RE: Ordering F-350 7.3 CCLB SRW - how big of camper can I get?

Once you go from an SRW to a DRW you will understand the stability aspect, it is a night and day difference in ride. My first ride with my 1191 in the DRW my jaw was on the ground with the ride difference coming from an SRW with same camper.

RE: Ordering F-350 7.3 CCLB SRW - how big of camper can I get?

Heck even 5000 is possible with an SRW if you throw enough money at it. I thought that to with my F250 that I upgraded the heck out of, weak link for me was the transmission which led me to get a DRW among the other stuff.

A US gallon of water weighs around 8.345lb. 40 gallon tank adds 333lbs of wet weight.

This is on the heavy side but would be an awesome setup for what you are wanting and you could order a shortbed: https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2007-Host-MCKINLEY-TENT-8.6-5023524952 Talk it over with the other about the rear tent, it can be a security issue with it being easy to cut open.

RE: saw a cool looking rig the other day.

Ranger supercab max cargo-1905 pounds. 2 wheel drive. the fellow claimed the camper weighed about 800 kilos (1700 pounds) wet. Hard side, wet bath, side door, fresh water tank, AC. What manufacturer makes one to match this? If none, why? Capri Campers makes one, the 2023 retreat is a nice unit: https://youtu.be/6V96icVPbCg

RE: Hardside TC for 3900 pound payload shortbed

I would recommend reading this and all the sub articles: https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/truck-campers-buyers-guide/ You are going to need a lite TC, probably a pop up if you are towing as well.

RE: Beach trip

I spray the underneath of my rig with Fluidfilm every Spring before I hit the beach, it does seem to help. After I get back from every trip I take my powerwasher and use an undercarriage spray bar I got from Amazon and modified it to spray better. I find the 4000 PSI of the powerwasher helps to get the sand out of those hard to hit places. I wish we could use UTV's up this way on our beach but they are not allowed, that would help ALOT getting to the narrow spots on our beach here in MD. This past year we have lost quite a bit of beach due to storms, which hopefully will be built up again over the winter somewhat.

RE: Beach trip

Not a bad haul, I wish I could keep that size drum here in MD, have to put them back as it isn't slot size. Drum, blue, pompano, all on my favorite list to catch while camping on the beach. Make sure and wash your undercarriage really good with salt gone or similar product to prevent rust. Awesome time of year to have the beach to yourself!

RE: Batteries died...sheesh

Just to throw out what I went with: https://rollsbattery.com/battery/12-fs-31/ I pretty much only offgrid camp so I have two of those in the 1191 and with solar I am good to go. Very beefy batteries as long as you are not worried about weight they will do great.

RE: Battery Charging on Truck Camper

You get something like this: https://www.adventurerv.net/lance-6wire-plug-truck-side-p-1484.html?osCsid=07n2jvaf0hp8hrbejila92vep7 and then put a 7pin adapter on the end to plug into your existing 7pin plug, then your 6pin plug goes into the other end.

RE: onan 2500 lp generator

When I first got mine I had an issue with the flex propane lines kinking in the propane closet when I would push them back in (I have 2) and not letting enough propane get to the generator (other stuff would work fine), it would just turn over and would run if I sprayed it. I also had issues with the air intake filter being dirty, it would do the same and blowing it out and cleaning it fixed that issue. These things require A LOT of propane and need air.

RE: Camper Tie Downs for an OBS Ford

HJ install is easy plus you can find used ones from time to time for a good deal. Some will do HJ for front and TL for the rear using the hitch. I use the HJ buttons on my rear bumper and it works fine. I also use fastgun turnbuckles.

RE: Shocks... KYB Monomax versus Rancho 9000, equivalent?

Going from Napa fleet shocks to the Rancho 9000's was a huge upgrade on my rig, I set them at 9 in the rear and 5 in the front and it all but eliminated the porposing I was encountering, since I am off road a lot with this rig it helps to cushion the bumps as well.

RE: Do you think this can be repaired?

Hope you wore a mask while tearing that apart, mold fest. I agree with scraping it was the best decision if you value your time.

RE: Do you think this can be repaired?

I would at a minimum wash them then list them for sale as is and let someone else deal with the headaches and find something else to camp in. Both those campers are going to need a TON of work and materials which are not cheap these days. Its like peeling back an onion, with every layer you will cry more.
