RE: Built-in microwave sounds sick

If it is failing think about replacing with Convection/Microwave. Only issue if you do that is to check your circuit, most combo microwave/convection need a 20A circuit.. not a 15A. I found that out....

RE: Quiet generators

I got a Firman generator - also sold under the E-Trailer name in the US. They're sold here in Canada by Costco and are a little bit more popular it seems here. Relatively quiet, well made and dirt cheap. Oh, and it works super well, starts and purrs like a kitten. For example, right now they have a Dual Fuel (LPG and Gas) model, 3200/2900 for $799 CAD or $600 USD. Incredible value if you ask me. https://www.firmanpowerequipment.com/shop/wh02942-3200-2900-watt-dual-fuel-inverter-portable-generator/

RE: 2 Battery banks built from 6 volts

One suggestion: you should switch to an MPPT solar charger/controller, you would have better performance. They're pretty cheap nowadays.

RE: When to Shut the Fridge Off

Yes, I do think you're wasting lots of time for nothing. Mine is OFF only when in storage, between trips. Going on 10 years of RVing. My new RV has the new MorRyde stairs and it's a pain to open for a minute or two... You have more important things to worry about, trust me. You'll develop ulcers soon if you keep it up...

RE: Propane delivery noise

Well this ain't my 1st rodeo. 3rd RV in 8 years, my previous RVs had Suburban heaters, 1st time with the Dometic.

RE: Propane delivery noise

From the inside it's make this very loud noise. It works fine, it's just the noise. Fan only is fine, it's when the burner kicks in. Same at the end of the heating cycle, when the burner shuts down its quiet...

RE: Propane delivery noise

Good idea. It's brand new, so I guess it needs adjustment. Will look into it. It's a Dometic / Atwood. Thank you

Propane delivery noise

I have a new Cougar, furnace comes on, fan runs, normal expected noise. After the set time, propane delivery starts, furnace fires up and heat is good. But when the propane delivery starts, it sounds like a jet engine, very, very loud. I've looked at the LPG line, to see if it rattled with something... Could not find anything. Anyone has any idea? Thanks.

RE: Lion Safari UT - new tech battery, not cheap

Geez, never thought I would start another China bashing session... Ray from Love Your RV (a pretty respected YouTuber) is doing a review of that new battery, yes it will require a different charger. I was simply curious to know if anyone had looked at those... At 20 lbs for 100AH, Group 24 form factor, if it sold for around $400-500 it could start to grab some market share. Here is the link to their web site https://lionenergy.com/collections/portable-power/products/lion-safari-ut

RE: Lion Safari UT - new tech battery, not cheap

Like the JC Penney battery as long as the company exists the product warranty will exist. Keep it in mind. "Like a guaranteed product from China." If product fails simply put in box then spend 300 dollars with DHL Point taken, forget the warranty, that was not the point of this post. Based in Utah, with some links to Australia. It's a new offering that shows promise.

Lion Safari UT - new tech battery, not cheap

Anyone sprung $799 to 999 for that battery. Seems to be making inroads into the RV market. A few reviews are popping online. Lithium-Ion Phosphate, lifetime warranty. 100 AH, 20 lbs. Group 24 size. I'm sure price will eventually come down. Just curious.

RE: My WiFi backup/security camera & trailer network project

My new Cougar has the Furrion bracket at the back and a power lead. I got myself a Haloview MC5111, designed to fit using that bracket and power lead. Do a Google search, you'll see a few reviews. This is the 5 inch screen model, they also offer a 7 inch but am not keen on that big screen on or near my dash. The 5 inch is perfect. The picture is of very high quality, 720p, bright colors, crisp and clear. Reception is excellent, 35 ft long rig in my pickup. Better yet, it has an SD card slot and will record, continuously. Love it. At $250 it's a great buy. Thumbs up.

RE: Mosquitos

Here's one we've been using for years and it works. Mosquitoes and black flies will not bite you. Promise. Great Outdoors Insect Repellent by Watkins. Worth trying it out. Good insect repellent

RE: Damaged RV on roads on way home from Florida, anyone else?.

Interesting, in late April this year, we also travelled from Texas to Ontario and along I-70/75, between Kentucky and Ohio we hit some serious potholes too - in fact, we broke an axle, the spindle sheared off. The whole wheel, along with brake drum and all went flying... we were stranded for a few hours on the side of I-70/75. Called CAA/AAA, they accompanied us on 3 wheels (I have a 5th wheel with tandem axles) to a Repair shop where they installed a new axle, new brake components, they move the other brake and wheel from the bad axle. I used my spare until I got home. The shop told me it was a bad weld on the axle (less than 3 years old). My insurance paid the repairs, hotel and meals for 2 nights. After complaining to Lippert they offered to send me a whole new axle assembly (6000#) I accepted and had it sent to my favourite local RV shop at home. I'll try to get something in lieu of... But yes, the roads are awful in many states. Priorities are screwed up...

RE: Do I need a surge protector?

You'll never get anyone who spent hundreds on a good surge protector to tell you you don't need one. I can tell you this, in 2017, in a caravan through Mexico, out of 24 RVs , 2 had them, including me. And only us had no power at most places. It would simply refuse to let power through. But, no one, and I mean nobody in the other 22 had issues then or afterwards, and we've kept in touch. So my wife was not exactly impressed. I still have it, and still use it. The huge square box from Progressive. I will leave it at that.

RE: Rear View Camera

Haloview is getting good reviews and seems to be priced right. Many new RV have this so-called Furrion prewire. Essentially a marketing effort to get you to buy a Furrion camera, overpriced and under performing compared to Haloview. I'm installing the newer 5 inch screen MC5111 on my Cougar. It has a Furrion compatible bracket and power cable.
