RE: Portable Generator

The water heater can run on the lower watts but it will not come to the full 4500 watts and may take longer to heat up with no damage to the heating elements which is why your water heater will work. The blower fan on your furnace is what is going to use the most wattage in reference to your furnace. Just like the blower fan on a RV furnace. If you cant find a plate on your furnace displaying the total watts your furnace uses try the manufacture's website. Multiply amps by voltage to get watts.

RE: Portable Generator

It will run the three refrigerators, one freezer and garage door opener and tv with no problem at the same time. I don't know how many lights you want to have on at the same time, but it should run all of your lights at the same time. Just turn off the lights you don't need to use. You need to see how many watts the furnace and water heater use. My water heater has two 4500 watt elements. I have a 6500 watt generator. I turn only my hot water heater on for 30 min. This gives me enough hot water. Then I turn other things on. The more stuff you turn on the more gas you will use. $$$

RE: Poachng Season

My favorite tv shows are Lone Star Law and Northwoods Law. I enjoy watching poachers get arrested. Both shows address discharging a firearm from a road or towards a dwelling.

RE: Window Tint

You want a good quality tint that blocks the UV light and heat. Just because a tint is dark does not mean it will block the heat better then a lighter tint. I have a 30% tint on the driver and passenger side front windows that has a 55% heat rejection. I have no problem seeing my tow mirrors or street signs at night. Federal law regulates the rear windows darkness. State law regulates the front windows darkness. This is you why you can get a dark factory tint on the rear right and left window of most trucks. The factory tint is legal in all 50 states. I added a light tint to the factory tinted windows for better heat rejection. I also tinted my sunroof. When I park my vehicle I use a sunshade on the front window which really helps keep my vehicle cool and protects my dash from the sun. For any RV a good quality window tint would work out nice. My window tint also reduces head light glare that reflects off my mirrors at night. I use a 3m product.

RE: Road master active suspension

I installed a pair on my DB's 2000 Chevy 1500 and on my 2008 Chevy 2500HD in 2010. They raised the 2500HD 1" in the rear and 1 1/2" on the 1500. On the 2500HD I noticed a small improvement in the ride. Both trucks were 2 wheel drive. I did not drive the 1500 but my DB is very happy with the suspension. Very easy to install. The Chevy 1500 now has 265K miles.

RE: TPMS with Truck or Aftermarket

My truck came with the optional 4 TMP sensors ($50) option. When I get my 5th wheel I have to have the sensors installed. They will read temp and pressure and display it on my dash. It is part of the towing option om my 2020 GMC.

RE: Getting the AC right

My AC had a fan position that would run the AC fan when the compressor cycled off. It made a big difference in circulating the air. One fan or more could even out the temp.

RE: I've Rediscovered Butter

I have always used unsalted butter but have discovered salted butter. I use very little salt in my diet but like salted butter on my toast.

RE: Carelessness strikes again

I did an oil change on my 1999 Chevy 1500. Then went to get some lunch when my oil lite came on. I pulled over and checked my oil. The dip stick did not show any oil. I had forgot to tighten the oil bolt. No damage to my truck but made one big mess of the road leading back to my house. Lucky for me the bolt did not fall out and I had tools and oil with me. NEVER change your oil when your hungry.

RE: New Truck for New Empty Nesters

If you are only going to use the TV for a few trips a year then it sounds like the vehicle will also be your daily driver. You may be happier with a gas engine then a diesel in a 1/2 ton. The emissions on a diesel can be a problem if do a lot of short trips and idling. Tow rating and large fuel tank are things to consider. When I shop for a new vehicle I set the price aside and look for the most important features I must have then, I address the price as it can be negotiated. Some 3/4 tons ride very nice. Look at them before you purchase.

RE: Chicken Killers

I have a trail cam on a post by my chicken coop and have watched many raccoons attempt to get into my coop. If a chicken does get killed I place it in my live trap. I have caught opossums, raccoons and foxes on a dead chicken.

RE: Salt water purification

For a RV? A reverse osmosis system would require a lot of filter cleaning. I would look at a system for a boat.

RE: For all you carpenters

I have honey bees and make my own equipment (bee hive boxes). I have so many boards that were cut wrong. Then I realized the book I was getting my instructions from had the wrong measurements. Now there is a updated version of the same book with the correct measurements in it.

RE: DeWalt vs Milwaukee

I would go with Dewalt. I am slowly changing my tools from Rigid to Dewalt. My corded power tools are all Dewalt. I have a Dewalt chain saw I like to take camping that works really nice and fast.

RE: A Commercial Vacuum Sealer Might Be Just What You Need

I like to freeze wet or soft things first. They seal better. I seal my dry beans and rice in mason jars with the jar attachment. They last for years.

RE: Florida

My neighbor across the street has COVID 19. He is miserable but doing alright. DW made me several masks and I keep two in my pocket. This is really going to be bad If we get hit with a big hurricane. With the shortages in the stores for some items at this time. We are getting are hurricane stuff now and getting prepared. A hurricane will clean the stores out completely. Florida has around 23 million people with over 6 million living in south Florida. The more congested places are the easier it is to spread the virus. I would stay out of Florida for now. You don't want to get sick away from home and family. We want to travel to Ohio and look at a new 5th wheel but for now we will stay home until things get better. We don't want to get sick or infect someone else.
