RE: Best RV trip planner

To download to Garmin it is easy - first using the trip tool - click send to GPS -click on download csv file - this will place the file on your computer Then using the Garmin "POI loader" install the file to your Garmin you can get the loader from the Garmin website Actually this is not true. To upload to Garmin RV785, you must use Garmin basecamp. RV trip wizard creates a GPX file. Garmin rv 785 does not accept cvs files. The GPX file is imported into basecamp which loads it into the the GPS. The problem is it is POI's sorted alphabetically. It is not imported as a multi stop trip. As I said, use the RV trip wizard for planning and just key in the address each morning before departure. Ken

RE: Best RV trip planner

I use RV Trip Wizard. Works great for me. Only caveat is that it is not free. Best product out there i have use is for at least 6 long trips of 20 stops each x3. Used it two years now after GS changed theirs. Only issue is that it is difficult to impossible to upload to the Garmin rv785. It it is easier to just key in the address and hit go on the Garmin. We used it to completely plan our biannual Alaska trip starting in early May. Ken

RE: Camping World Holdings Fiscal Health

I guess his request came true? Per CNBC: “There’s no doubt that there is probably not many consumers in this country today that are in favor of what has been said in the last couple days and if they are, quite frankly, don’t shop at my business,” said Lemonis, who is CEO of Camping World and host of CNBC’s “The Profit.”

RE: I-70 Colorado in April

We lived in Colorado for 30 years. It can happen anytime, but April will have a pretty high probability. The weather services do provide advanced warning to be able to plan your trip. The worst areas are at the Eisenhower Johnson tunnels and Vail Pass. Interesting side note, they have been closing eastbound quite often due to sun glare. Ken

RE: Mail Service? What's available?

We use the Goodsam mail service when we go to Alaska. They are here in Florida. Goodsam Mail Service What we like is they will scan any mail and email it. They trash all of the junk mail. Only once a month or so do we have them forward the actual mail to us. Ken

RE: Wi-Fi extenders

We have been using the PDQ Connect "Bullet" for years. It can pick up wifi and boost the signal from miles away. We use it on our RV and our Boat. My favorite feature is that it sets up a wireless network inside your RV or Boat for printing and connecting devices. Since all of our devices have logged into the PDC Wifi hub once, all I have to do is log the PDQ into the wifi signal that has the best signal. Automatically all of the other devices log on. I believe PDQ Connect now calls the newest product PDQ Rocket. My disclaimer as usual; the Wifi is only as good as the internet provided by the marina, campground, etc. Ken

RE: New and improved Trip Planner

If you are referring to the Goodsam trip planner, Goodsam severed their affiliation with Rand McNally. We gave up on the GS Trip Planner and moved to RV Trip Wizard. It has been working perfectly for us. Ken

RE: 4-Corners

Not much to do there. When we lived in Colorado we like visiting Mesa Verde, so we went down to 4 corners a couple of times. To burst your bubble, the private marking is not really 4 corners. It is somewhere else. I guess the surveys in the 1800's were not as accurate as today. Ken

RE: Mail Forwarding

We use the goodsam mail service. They will scan and email any documents you request. About once a month, we have them send us everything but junk mail. Ken

RE: Ways to Save on Fuel at Pilot Flying J

You need to swipe your credit card first. It then asks for your loyalty card. However, the largest discount (14 cents on diesel) is available if you get the Pilot/Flying J/Goodsam credit card. Ken

RE: Any Denver area C owners? Alignments???

You don't say what chassis you have, but we used to take our 2010 36FK Seneca to John Elway Chevy (old Burt) on South Broadway. I believe they can do the chassis work. We had the C5500 Chassis. Ken

RE: Please read the signs....

We were coming back from Denali last year back to Wasilla following two rentals. Both drivers were not from Canada or the US, but had rented from Canadream. They stuck to the speed limit EXACTLY. The problem was they were driving exactly KPH instead of MPH. I thought I was going to go nuts. It took almost the entire trip down to get around them. Ken

RE: Saving Planned Trips

I finally gave up on the GS Trip Planner. My issues: 1. Cannot upload to a GS GPS 2. Cannot save a trip. 3. Only shows campgrounds on route. The old one you could see all campgrounds with a click. 4. Keeps randomly changing the route. 5. Limited to 25 stops. We purchased the RV Trip Wizard (annual subscription). So far the app and website are awesome. We have completely planned our 2020 Alaska trip and are ready to make reservations and key stops. Ken I got info that the GS Trip Planner is still work-in-progress and promises features inputted by members (???). Looking forward to getting update on your Alaska trip on a separate thread. I kept hearing it's not doable on RV and people kept on suggesting a pricey ferry in between to make it viable.. This is our 4th trip up from Florida. We spend the summer but do something different up or back. Ken
