RE: Almost lost reservation in AZ park

I agree that they should not be able to do that unless they let you know up front that you could be bumped for a longer-term tenant. Even so, my late husband and I wintered in AZ on an annual basis for about ten years. After he passed away I moved to AZ permanently. Except in the summer, the desert is the perfect place to be, IMO. You will like it!

RE: Dispersed or lightly used campgrounds - Bighorn NF

Sitting Bull cg is awesome. When I went a couple of years ago, I got the last site (#1, I believe). Lots of moose and bear, beautifully scenic and cool at 8600 ft.

RE: Dispersed or lightly used campgrounds - Bighorn NF

'Lightly used' when referring to campgrounds has lost all meaning this year. Here in UT, I've found that even a lot of dispersed sites are full. Headed for WY next and will be looking for same. Good luck to both of us. :)

RE: Canada barring folks still

If Canada chooses to shoot herself in the foot, far be it from me to interfere. ;) And go Lightning!!!

RE: How important is level with residential fridge

Mine is not a 'residential' fridge but is an all-electric 12V/AC compressor fridge and it doesn't need to be level.

RE: Smaller Holding Tanks...What to do when NO hookups??

In much of the West we conserve water. YMMV.

RE: Smaller Holding Tanks...What to do when NO hookups??

As my grey tank usually fills up before my black tank, I often use a plastic dishpan for washing dishes and pour the dishwater down the toilet.

Thanks, Canada, but no thanks.

RE: It's hot!

Get the generator fixed is my suggestion. Well, as I said, I couldn't get an appt. until next month but, yes, that's the plan. Just curious as to how other campers here in the West were doing with the heat.

RE: It's hot!

I'm not retired yet, but when I do retire and start RVing for months out of the year, I can guarantee you I won't be RVing in Arizona during summer months! Not when there are so many lovely, cooler boondock sites up north. Isn't that what the RV is for, anyway... so you can MOVE to a better climate? :) Tell me which ones are cooler. Montana is hot and the Canadian border is still closed.

RE: It's hot!

Yuma, what do you expect. Move somewhere cooler. Hawaii is great never too hot and never cold. I'm not home. I never stay in Yuma in the summer. Just sayin' it's hot everywhere in the west.

RE: It's hot!

I can't go home. I live in Yuma! :)

It's hot!

Here in the West this heat wave is apparently going to last all summer and into at least September. How are you all coping? I had been boondocking and running my generator for the AC but it quit on me last week and I can't get it fixed until the middle of next month! Meanwhile, it's RV parks and campgrounds with electric. I drove up to nearly 9000 ft. the other day hoping to cool off and it was still hot even up there! :E

RE: National Parks' Hilarious Bear Advisory

After watching a moron tourist tailgating a grizzly with his ATV in Alaska, I sometimes feel inclined to root for the bear. :R

First COME first served should mean just that.

Home field advantage. It seems a little selfish to me. Me, too! :(

RE: Forest Service Campground - First Come, First Serve & hosts

That happened once when I was camping at White River, Rainier NP. Supposed to be FCFS but the best row of sites with an in-your-face view of the glacier were all 'reserved'. Power corrupts.

RE: Salt Lake City to Spokane Wa.

stop in jackson, WY if you can and check out the Grand Tetons. Super gorgeous Not if they're in a hurry. Traffic in that area will be s-l-o-w.

RE: 93 North out of Vegas

It's a great road. You'll want to take the 318 cutoff to save quite a few miles. The shoulders are very steep in most places.

RE: It’s that time again.

I like to start out with Big Rock Candy Mountain. It's a personal tradition. Then it's bluegrass and CCR for the most part, though I throw in some Motown, too. Classical is my overall fav but it doesn't drive well.
