RE: Forest Service Campground - First Come, First Serve & hosts

That happened once when I was camping at White River, Rainier NP. Supposed to be FCFS but the best row of sites with an in-your-face view of the glacier were all 'reserved'. Power corrupts.

RE: Salt Lake City to Spokane Wa.

stop in jackson, WY if you can and check out the Grand Tetons. Super gorgeous Not if they're in a hurry. Traffic in that area will be s-l-o-w.

RE: 93 North out of Vegas

It's a great road. You'll want to take the 318 cutoff to save quite a few miles. The shoulders are very steep in most places.

RE: It’s that time again.

I like to start out with Big Rock Candy Mountain. It's a personal tradition. Then it's bluegrass and CCR for the most part, though I throw in some Motown, too. Classical is my overall fav but it doesn't drive well.

RE: Spiders

Bug bombs and sprays may kill most of the spiders, but those that survive---hoo-boy! :E

RE: Grants Pass, OR (exceptional experiences)

You might enjoy Valley of the Rogue SP in the same area. There's a walking trail for miles along the river. Watch out for ticks on your dog, though, this time of year.

RE: Bypass Salt Lake City Utah

While I, too, hate driving through SLC, I have found that straight through on I-15 is better than the 'bypass' 215 route. Last time I went through, most of the traffic slowdown was south of the city.

RE: Driving people to boondock by calling themselves a "Resort"

I avoid any place with 'resort' in the name. It usually just means higher prices.

RE: Cost of RVing

You'd be hard pressed to find any RV park here in the West for less than $35/night. And many state parks are even more. I usually dry camp at NFS campgrounds with my ATB pass.

RE: Dealing with campground reservations

I hear you. Gone are the days when one could just pull into a campground in the early afternoon and find a spot for the night. :( My solution, other than for places I need to spend a week or more, is to boondock.

RE: Mystery campground -- Lewiston Idaho ????

It's highly unusual for either a NFS or BLM campground to have full hookups.

RE: Class C RV Bomb

Hopefully he will donate that $250,000 to a recovery fund for the businesses and residences damaged or destroyed once the inevitable realization that there will be no arrests or convictions is finalized. Hear, hear!

RE: Class C RV Bomb

The motor home appears to be a Chateau. Old Biscuit: As I noted upthread, there are two reasons I posted this: 1. Other RVers may have seen this RV in the area and might have some useful information. 2. Older RVs might want to avoid parking in city streets for the time being as they will be looked upon with suspicion.

RE: Class C RV Bomb

If I had an older RV I'd stay out of major cities in the near future. {I doubt anyone would waste a new expensive one to blow up things}.
