RE: Mayberry Campground

Price is good because other than the cg and maybe some fishing, there is not much to do at the cg but rest. We travel into Mt Airy and tour the town or go over to Pilot Mtn. During summer months they have beach music groups at the amphitheater across from the Andy Playhouse. Mostly on Fridays but often any day from wed-sat.. Ask the owner there to give you a tour of the house where the 2 Siamese twins once lived who were in his family. Eng and Change I believe their names were. Great story of their lives.

RE: Jimmy Buffett concert at Cruzan Amphitheatre in Florida

Heck, when in Myrtle Beach, SC we have to wait in line at his restaurant for what seems like forever. I know seeing him in person is a blast

RE: Mayberry Campground

Hey WB. we always go there the first weekend of October and then some other weekends during the year. We love the beach music concerts at the amphitheater downtown. I usually drive to work from there if we stay on a Wednesday or Thursday night. but it's a 2 hour drive so that hurts. We might still be there but haven't booked it yet. Will let you know if we do. We really like staying there.

RE: Holiday Travel Park Emerald Isle NC

We are staying at MB Travel Park for Easter for $51/night. I know things go up more into summer months but still not bad for what is offered with the cost.

RE: Tanglewood Park, Clemmons NC

Wb, you have Tanglewood described correctly. I would also suggest the arboretum as a must to see. You can walk to it from the cg.

RE: Holiday Travel Park Emerald Isle NC

That's why we have only been there once and it wasn't but $90 back then. Seems like we did find a nice waterpark near there.

RE: Creekwood Farms or Pride RV Parks, Waynesville, NC

We've stayed at Pride twice for 1 night each time. The 1st visit they put us in the middle of the CG and the site was "Tight". Rooms for the slides but not much else. Water, and electric were both good each time. Side note to Mockybird: Did not quite understand your post about the elk. There is a very large herd down the road at the Cataloochee area of the Great Smoky National Park and a smaller herd at the Oconoluftee visitor center area in Cherokee. I do agree that it is a sight you should not miss. I think you did understand me :) That's exactly what I was referring to. The ones at Cataloochee. A must see but a crooked road to get to them.

RE: Myrtle Beach state park

We have always enjoyed MB on Memorial Day. But we go in the cg and usually don't leave till ready to come home. The original comment would be referring I believe to this being "Black Bikers" weekend. It gets really crowded and noisy in spots around town during this time. I think the regular bikers weekend is the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. It makes for some crowded and noisy 2 weeks there. We have never had a problem there on either weekend, but as I said, we stay in the cg the complete time mostly.

RE: Creekwood Farms or Pride RV Parks, Waynesville, NC

I disagree .........but don't we all. Creekwood might be north of Pride but it is butted right up to Pride. We love Pride much better. The mill has never bothered us at Pride. Just personal choice I guess. More activities at Pride we feel. Whichever you choose, drive over to see the elk across the mtn..

No need to mention level/unlevel if they say all ARE level..LOL

RE: Tanglewood Park, Clemmons NC

Maybe they are more set up for TT and not many spaces for motorhomes. With a TT you can unhook and drop the tongue down to level. Motorhomes are sot so accommodating to be lowered or raised very far either way.

RE: Myrtle Beach bans tents & umbellas

I for one just love it when I have my spot staked out and in comes a couple who puts their (even small ones) umbrella up between 2 chairs and I can't look straight ahead then and see the ocean. SO I move to the front of them and then the tide comes in to wash me away and I have to go running after my flip flops. Just another day at the beach but much better than a day at work.

RE: Tanglewood Park, Clemmons NC

wb, I think what they mean is side to side. Definitely not from front to back. They did this we were told to help water run off better. They do have some sites that do not have as much front/back slope.

RE: Charlotte in April

With that age, I also suggest Dan Nicholas Park in Rowan County/Salisbury. as wbwood said, not full hookups, but they do have water and electric and a sewer dump for that part. Might work for your 4 day trip. Hope you can keep up with those kids if you go here though. Plenty to do and you will feel young again as you ride the ponies on the carosel. Just ask wb and terryallan. They rode so many times they got dizzy. LOL gary

RE: Myrtle Beach KOA- need site pics

There are some public beach access spots on the ocean side of OCean Drive, but get taken up quickly each day.

RE: Not For The Faint of Heart

All I can think of is squirrels, hilly terain, and music in the mountains. How have we let our country get so out of whack. I think I'll get me an RV and sit inside with my TV volume up loud and my bathroom all inside with me..Oh no, was that an acorn that just dropped on my roof ? LET'S GO CAMP. Winter is destroying our minds. It has mine.
